Pros: It was my 2nd stay at ampersand hotel during London design festival. I liked the place last year so I decided to stay again. Staffs are still kind, room was cozy and clean. Complementary snack, cookies and drinks in room was so satisfying. Comfy bed and bath room’s under floor heating system was just perfect during chilly season. Location is amazing too.

Pros: The hotel is truly lovely. I think we had the smallest room there which I booked unknowingly. But it worked just fine. The bed was so comfy. There were slippers and robes and the bathroom floor was heated. The daily tea was also very nice. I can't write enough to explain how exceptional the hotel, staff and location were. You will have to try it for yourself. Overall I plan to go back to London and stay here again.

Pros: The location is great and the bed was very comfortable
Cons: I knew this hotel before it’s renovation and it looks like 1 bedroom has been converted into 2 bedrooms now. We booked a superior room at 325 euro night - unacceptably small for the price - the bed practically touched the wall. It really was uncomfortable. This alone will stop us from returning. 2 coffees and a water for breakfast - 13 euro. Not good value

Cons: The gym was very well appointed in terms of weights, towels and free water but the space was too small in my view, it needed to be at least double the size as only 2-3 people would comfortably fit. Equally, the smaller hotel rooms (where my sisters stayed) have limited space if you are staying for more than 2 nights, but the hotel reception kindly advised us of this beforehand.

Pros: Great location, nice staff, comfortable bed
Cons: Room is too small and breakfast is overpriced

When we checked on booking.com there were rooms available. When we informed them of this, the suites suddenly became available. They’re just after your money all of the time. It’s not about customer service.

Pros: Great staff, great location, good breakfast.

Pros: Breakfast was good property was clean staff was very polite. The hotel was great at giving guidance on car services and taxis.
Cons: The rooms are not very sound proof we had extremely loud neighbors several nights. More of business hotel. There were not many things to help tourists book restaurants or get around. The staff didn't have guidance on hop on hop off buses or tours. We figured it out on our own but I think in other hotels there is more help for that type of thing.

At The Gore we wear our heritage lightly. Since 1892, we have been providing guests with understated elegance and impeccable service. As quintessentially British as our near neighbor The Royal Albert Hall, we have won hearts and minds with gracious, personal attention and agreeable luxury that recalls a gentler era and the best traditions of grand hotels.Today, these traditions are charged with new energy. Our new restaurant, 190 Queens Gate, brings both with and wisdom to fine dining, re-imagining a whole range of comforting classics. Meanwhile Bar 190 is lighting up Knightsbridge and beyond with a vibrant ambience and eclectic drinks selection.

Cons: Room so small and we were upgraded. Bathroom facilities small and just not great. Decor not to our taste, but recognise that this is a very personal thing.

Pros: The staff are great and very helpful and location
Cons: A bit maintenance is needed
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Decor is classy and comfortable and the staff were very friendly
Cons: Like most London hotels the rooms are small but for £200+ a night I expected a little more and a better bathroom, which is showing its age and wasn't very good in the first place (average fittings and pour grouting). Being able to hear the music from the bar below did not improve the score and not in keeping with the nature and style of the hotel. The location is great for the Albert Hall and the park but a walk to a tube station for anywhere else.

Pros: The atmosphere and location and our room was very quiet

Cons: Room was very small and did not have twin beds
7,9 Good
Pros: Classic old hotel with great restaurant. Great location for Kensington Palace and Hyde Park.
Cons: A bit far from the train station. More than a 10 min. walk. Very small room and elevator since quite old.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Excellent location for the Albert Hall
Cons: Staff were a little chilly on reception. The bar added a service charge of £5 on to our bar bill, which we thought really cheeky. Also, room service adds £5, so an early morning coffee is extremely expensive if you wish to have one, which you may as the revolting tubes of instant coffee in our room had obviously been there for some time and had solidified. Luckily there is a cafe around the corner on the way to the Tube.
8,8 Excellent
Pros:
Cons: Prefer a 5 foot bed

The Pelham is an elegant boutique hotel in the heart of South Kensington. It is located a short walk from the Natural History Museum and Kensington Gardens, which seem to have inspired the brightly colored interiors. Here one is surrounded by a romantic mix of elegant patterns and rich tones. It has long been considered among the most sophisticated places in London. Settle in and revel in the character of the wood-panelled drawing room and library. Make time for a little indulgence with an afternoon tea or a dinner at The Trattoria by Michelin starred chef Alfredo Russo. Step out and explore the boutiques and worldclass museums of Kensington.

Pros: Perfect location immediately across the street from the South Kensington Tube stop. Has a large elevator which a lot of these townhome-style hotels do not have. There are a couple of stairs from elevator to room, but far better this than lugging luggage up flights of stairs. We dropped our luggage in the morning and returned in the evening and they had already moved bags up into our room for us.

Pros: Our room was perfectly set up for the traveller with a perfect set up for your clothes and plenty of room.
Cons: The entrance has 3 steps,a long step and then 2 more steps which makes it impossible for the handicap to access. So sad for such a perfect hotel. This seems to be true for a lot of London hotels.

Pros: Great location, clean and pretty hotel with friendly staff. Room was remarkably quiet considering location. We were in and out quickly so we didn't get to spend much time there.
Cons: There's only one thing that could have been better and that was the size of the room. We'd booked a superior room but it was quite small with stairs inside the room and some things (tea pot, hair dryer) to be plugged into the closet with too narrow a space for two of us to pass each other from bedroom to bathroom. Otherwise, it was perfect and I'd book again but in a different room type.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Directly opposite the underground and the Pret a Manger just down the road.
Cons: A bit pricey for the small room and facilities.
7,4 Good
Pros: The location is excellent. Across the street from the be station and so many great shops, restaurants and pubs nearby. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The bed was really comfortable.
Cons: The WiFi was terrible. It connected, but was too slow to make worthwhile. Also, the tv channels didn’t include any sports! Not that I wanted to waste my vacation watching sports on tv in a hotel, but it would’ve been nice to keep up on scores and such. Also the old building was very creaky. I was awaken by the neighbors above two nights.

Pros: This hotel is really good friendly helpful staff clean rooms and the location is the best right opposite the south Kensington tube station

Cons: An earlier check in would have been better. 3 o clock is quite late . We were going to proms at Hyde park so didn't actually get in room till after midnight and left again at 9.30 the following morning . But, a beautiful hotel and very comfortable.

Pros: Awesome location, girls behind the desk were lovely and helpful. Massive rooms and beautiful garden out the back.
Cons: I didn’t have breakfast included in my booking which was fine, I paid for my breakfast and after getting my breakfast the host asked me for my room number, he then came back and told me it wasn’t included very rudely, I then gave him my receipt and he continued to yell at me so I gave him my receipt again and he just said oh, no sorry or anything. But still a lovely breakfast just didn’t feel very welcome

Pros: Nice size rooms. Friendly staff. Clean.
Cons: Don't buy the breakfast. At nearly £20 each you should expect a certain standard. This was verging on dangerous. Undercooked bacon and sausage. Scrambled eggs were watery and a strange colour. Everything was cold. Literally the worst breakfast I've had in over 35 years of travelling.

Cons: noise isolation is not the best, it's a good thing it's in a quiet location , but still work in the street ( garbage disposal or something ) in the street outside woke my wife up some days ( we were in the 4th floor) mattress was a bit too hard for our taste ( we didn't complain about any of these to the hotel staff ... it could be that they could have done something not sure)

Pros: Nice, boutique hotel on a quiet street close to the Hyde park and 10 min walk from the Paddington station. We were upgraded to a jr. suite at no charge and it was a very pleasant bonus. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was welcoming a friendly.
Cons: They have 2 breakfast options: continental or hot English. We had a continental included in the price. There is a special person that instructs each guest on which breakfast they are entitled to have and that the hot breakfast is extra. Not very classy... I have a feeling they spend more money doing that and creating a negative vibe, as opposed to letting everyone have some scrambled eggs (how much can they cost?) and a good impression of the hotel.

Pros: the brilliant location of the hostel - right inside the Holland park, lovely. The staffs are quite supportive, both the people serving the front desk and the kitchen. I will come back alone, only.
Cons: NEVER accept room 011 please. What I dislike is that the guests can remove all the silence in the whole coming in and out the hotel - as they may think this underground room cannot be with guest but a laundry or equipment room. -hope it is just because I picked the worst room 011. Nothing good except the bed- which must be available in all the rooms. And, we ordered the breakfast + dinner package for the two days while got a surprise day by day the canteen were reserved by some group from 18:00-21:00, and I was forced to take two late dinners around 21:30, without earlier warning. Too bad a service. It is a problem of management. It is my first score giving under 8, sadly.

Pros: It was mostly as I'd expect. It was worth it for the price.
Cons: Guests were using the toilet/shower room in an odd way. Water and soapy foam all over the toilet seat and splashed most of everywhere in the area surrounding the toilet. Maybe some signs should be put up to show how people should use a toilet and shower correctly. Simple stuff, but I guess some idiots need it.

Pros: I really liked the night staff member - Lionel. I came in the middle of the night completely exhausted and his smile, his very warm approach has made me feel welcomed and safe. Honestly, I was a bit scared to stay in a hostel, especially because female dorm was not available at the time of the booking and the room is smaller than it is comfortable. He was polite, fun to talk to and helpful. I had genuine feeling he is a nice person to hang around. I was glad the locker inside of the room was big enough to store a small luggage and that in the bunk bed space you could find a plug, where to charge a phone. The long mirror in the room was also something I liked.

Cons: The rooms are uncomfortably small with too many bunk beds. When I wanted to open my tiny luggage, someone would open the door and hit me or someone would come out of bathroom and had to go through me. It was terrible to go toilet inside of the room as you could hear everything from the bathroom cubicle. Also I felt the bed curtains are not being changed after the guests left. There was no space to hang a towel, which is pretty annoying. The room ventilation was awful, there is a fan, which is noisy and terribly small window that opens at the bottom, not at the top - which I do not think is terribly safe or helping to ventilate.

Both Italian ladies in the reception would speak in italian language to each other and laugh at my face just because I didn't feel comfortable staying at a mixed room and wanted a female room. Cons: The pictures do not show the real quality of the room. Walls were pealing and dirty, floors were not clean, the bathroom facilities were cramped and gross, beds were horribly quality with springs poking you, and the staff was not service oriented or very friendly. Very disappointed in this location. After talking with some people in London we came to find out that our experience is not normal with hostels, most of the time they are better kept. This was pretty bad. Don’t trust the pictures you see in their ads, they aren’t what you will get.

Pros: Right around the corner from public transport. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pretty good value.
Cons: Rooms and facilities were suffering from either age, or poor design. Sometimes both. Had to spend a lot of time at cafes, because the room did not have an electrical socket for me to charge my phone. Only ventillation in the room was from an open window, exposing you to all kinds of traffic noise throughout the night.

Location is great but the actual rooms and facilities leave a lot to be desired, it did the job for a night but I wouldn't recommend. Breakfast is literally just cornflakes, they have hot drinks machine but there were no teabags, staff were lazy and barely even looked at guests. There was no storage or option to lock away bags in the room and mattress was very hard.
