Pros: I’ve stayed there many times and it’s always a pleasure. The location is perfect, by the station so you can get anywhere so quickly. The building is gorgeous with so many common spaces to unwind and chill out. It’s a good place to meet new people. I’ve been traveling around Europe over the last two years and Palmers is the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed. The staff is a plus as well. Always nice and helpful guys.

Pros: All in all I like this hostel pretty much (this is my 3rd stay there). Staff are always very friendly and helpful, the building and the atmosphere is unique and relaxing.
Cons: It's not super convenient to use the bathrooms. There's no space to place clothes and stuff, and sometimes when it's busy you have to find an available shower on another floor.

Pros: Privacy curtains round bunk are great. Bunks are solid and don't move. Cheap price, great location near tube, pretty quiet at night even tho it's a hostel in London.
Cons: There was a heatwave and no air con meant room was very hot. There was a fan but it didn't do much and was noisy. But it's rare that the weather gets so hot so it wouldn't put me off staying again.

Pros: The ambiance in the room is very exquisite. It is very rusty and have this classic feeling in it. Love every details on the wall, the light setting and the kitchenette area.
Cons: The staff can be more engaging especially at the front desk. I've requested for lower bunk in my email due to injury at my ankle, however the email went unnoticed. During the checked in process, I've had mentioned about the request once again because it really hard for me to climb the stairs- the respond - we cannot move you to lower bunk as there is no availability throughout your stay. FYI, I stayed here for 3D2N.

Pros: Nice staff, they refilled soap upon request once we realized it was empty. Overall status of our 6 bed room was OK, could be a bit cleaner and tidy. We could leave luggage before checking in and after checking out in the dedicated room which also has lockers. I'd definitely recommend for low budget families and backpackers. There's Tesco Express and Sainsbury nearby. The bedroom was adapted for wheelchair in case of need. Solid bunk beds that don't shake when someone moved.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: It was great, nice room and bathroom (I got room for 4), big kitchen, very nice staff
Cons: I would just like in kitchen to offer some free things like tea or sugar, paid breakfast could improve their coffee (too watery) and add cheese at least, for these two reasons I didn´t buy it after first day, but they advise you to look first and pay if you like so it is not like you don´t know what are you paying for Like it was said here before, windows can´t be opened and in warm weather it would make dificult to sleep there, fans will not help much.

Pros: SoHostel is brilliantly located for getting around London using public transport and close to many of the big tourist attractions, tourism services and top shopping destinations like Oxford St, Regent St and Carnaby St. The private room I had was very clean and comfortable. Bathrooms and showers were cleaned throughout the day and spotless. Staff were very helpful especially with luggage when the lift was out of order. Common area/ pub was cheery and the breakfast included was really good value. Dinner menu was wholesome, good size portions and also good value. I also liked the fact that there were a decent number of vegetarian options - and that there is a Tesco and a Boots really nearby for any other needs.

Pros: Good location Every morning we found toilets clean. This is a very important point because a lot of people stay in the hostel.
Cons: All doors were closing very noisy. They should be repaired. For this reason, we cant sleep first night of our stay and we bought earplug. We booked double room but not feel comfortable only for this reason. Also, I think, double rooms should be located further away from crowded dormitories.

Pros: Nice and clean, good breakfast, comfortable beds, coffee 24/7, good wi-fi. In the center of the city.
Cons: A guy who actually was living in the room with a lot of stuff, but really polite. You have to take your locker with you.

Pros: Staff, location and food are excellent!!! The property is so clean.
Cons: Bunk beds extremely noisy so pretty much if you have some that moves a lot/ toilet during the night you’ll definitely wake up with them. In addition, they clean the bathrooms/ toilets during peak hours in the morning so get prepared to queuing up.

Pros: Clean, quiet, easy to get around. Big room and bathroom relative to the cost.

Pros:
Cons: This hostel asked me to changer the room for every night as I travelled alone. I reserved 5 nights and slept in 4 different rooms. The suggestion of the staff was either I accept it or ask for a refund. The explication was that as individual traveler, we need to move for the group traveler. So, I packed my luggage every morning and made a new check in every afternoon. What an inconvenience! The Hostel has an astonishing policy and it's totally unfair. By moving the clients in order to fully occupy the room, they make a maximum of benefit.
8,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was helpful. Facilities were fresh looking and nice albeit the showers were a bit tight. This is hostel living with 8 in a room on bunks.
Cons: Rooms were very warm despite opening the windows and it being cool in the evenings.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The location is good. The breakfast was value for money. There was a reception area where people can wait.
Cons: I got insect bites on my neck and arm after just 1 day of staying here. I had the biggest problem with the shower situation. I thought it would be like a dorm, but it was not. There was only like 2 shower areas for the whole floor of many rooms and many beds! It was always occupied and I had to wake up very early just to shower. Plus it was always wet! The shower head was not detachable. It was very disgusting. I had the most inconvenient shower experience ever and I have been to many hostels. Someone might reply that I should have told the management about this etc.. But what use will it be? Every person who showers will get the whole floor wet because there was no glass partition. Only a disgusting shower curtain. Even if they clean after I complain, the same disgusting thing will happen again RIGHT AFTER the next person comes out of it. The receptionists do not seem very into the job either. They were professionals that is true but they were not trying further than that? I am talking about the little things, nothing major. Like if asked about a good restaurant, they claim to have no knowledge about it? They are not like other receptionists in other hostels who are friendly and can talk to you about the hostel’s vicinity. I also did not like the fact that an early check in has to cost 5gbp. I felt terrible about it. It was not very welcoming of them to do that. I will understand if the room is not ready... but if it is already ready 1 hour before, then charging 5gbp is obviously greed. Do yourself a favor and book the room WITH the shower inside. That is less disgusting.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. Breakfast was value for money. Wifi was fast. Bathroom was clean. Shower head still not detachable but at least bathroom not as disgusting as the shared ones. I booked a different room before in the same hostel and TRUST ME. You have to book this one because this is cleaner.
Cons: This was my 2nd time. The first time I had a horrible time and I still can’t get that disgusting shower situation out of my mind. Also none of the rooms seem to have a charging station near the bed. Always far and it made me paranoid. I could not charge my phones overnight. Smart beds will go a long way! Several other hostels in big cities have that type. Hope you will look into that ‘coz you need an upgrade. Your staff hopefully can be more friendly next time? I feel that the staff of hostels should be the welcoming kind.

Pros: I really liked the location, close do Millennium bridge, Globe, Tate
Cons: a little spartan but that's okay
4,6 Okay
Pros: Close enough to the St Paul tube station
Cons: The surroundings are EXTREMELY noisy. There were groups of drunk men and women passing by on the road all night screaming, shouting and laughing - ensuring you dont get to sleep. To top it all the St Paul cathedral bells ring all night (every half hour and then longer for the hourly change) to leave no scope for a proper night's sleep

Pros: The elevator was out. A staff member carried my suitcase upstairs. My room was freezing. They gave me a space heater.
Cons: Hotels were cheaper. The location was hard to find. The taxi ride there was expensive. Climbing stairs. and having to carry my card to leave my room. They don't want you to eat in your room and threaten to use dogs. People smoke outside the eating area. 10:00 check out. I later stayed in a 4 bed room with bunk beds. My friend's shirt was stolen while she took a shower. I didn't know where the shower was. There were no towels or paper towels.

Pros: I liked the sturdy bunkbeds and the curtain provided some privacy, wifi was good, breakfast was alright. I got what I wanted.
Cons: I stayed in 002 which is the room next to reception. Whenever I needed the toilet I had to cross the whole reception area and sometimes through the school groups and when you're wearing your pjs it's a bit embarrassing. In that room there are two shower cubicles, one should be a toilet. Other than this, it was alright. My issues were with people being totally inconsiderate towards others.

Pros: They have a lot of space for setting up your computer and work, although it is not comfortable. Free lugagge storage. Great free coffee options. Fast check in and check out. Plenty showrrs and toilets. They are very clean too.
Cons: The mattress is to thin and, although i appreciate pods, this one is 190 cm or less so it very uncomfortable for tall people. The duvet would is also small. The bar was closed throughout my stay. I would appreciate if we had some, yogurt, tomatoes and cheese for breakfast but its ok. Ohh the banches have no leg room at all

Pros: Breakfast was good and there were 24 hour check in staff at the property so you felt safe.
Cons: In our room the radiator was broken meaning it was on full blast for the entire day and evening. When you are sharing a room it becomes extremely warm very quickly and it was almost unbearable to sleep in. This was reported to a member of staff upon arrival but nothing was done to resolve the problem or help us to change rooms. The mattresses on the bunk beds were extremely old... sunk and full of very painful springs!

Pros: Room is big. Bathroom is clean. Facilities are in good condition. I saw cleaning staffs everyday.
Cons: Toilets and showers are in the same space, thus causing bad smell because of others people's use of toilets when I were having my shower. Also, there are just a few toilets that I had to wait for so long in the morning

Pros: the brilliant location of the hostel - right inside the Holland park, lovely. The staffs are quite supportive, both the people serving the front desk and the kitchen. I will come back alone, only.
Cons: NEVER accept room 011 please. What I dislike is that the guests can remove all the silence in the whole coming in and out the hotel - as they may think this underground room cannot be with guest but a laundry or equipment room. -hope it is just because I picked the worst room 011. Nothing good except the bed- which must be available in all the rooms. And, we ordered the breakfast + dinner package for the two days while got a surprise day by day the canteen were reserved by some group from 18:00-21:00, and I was forced to take two late dinners around 21:30, without earlier warning. Too bad a service. It is a problem of management. It is my first score giving under 8, sadly.

Pros:
Cons: Sheets were dirty and dusty. dirty throughout.
5,8 Okay
Pros: It was mostly as I'd expect. It was worth it for the price.
Cons: Guests were using the toilet/shower room in an odd way. Water and soapy foam all over the toilet seat and splashed most of everywhere in the area surrounding the toilet. Maybe some signs should be put up to show how people should use a toilet and shower correctly. Simple stuff, but I guess some idiots need it.

Pros: The location is fine and, surprisingly, the noise from the pub wasn't too bad. The bed was comfortable, the locker worked and the room was reasonably big.
Cons: It's quite hot in the rooms (one of the people sleeping there had a fan switched on the whole night pointing at him, so he get the cooler air and the rest of us got the noise), the shower didn't work properly (no hot water would come out, and i tried everything) and the bathroom was quite messy. There doesn't seem to be enough bathrooms/toilets for so many guests. Either the socket in the room or the adapter they sell at the reception is not entirely right (would get a spark plugging and unplugging stuff), and charging 5 pounds for a towel seems a bit excessive.

Pros: The beds are really comfortable Fan in the room Great location
Cons: The first night, we told the staf that in a shower, the water didn't stop. They said, a little drunk, "yes, we know" and the next morning, the water was still flowing. Not very ecological..

Cons: The bathroom was clean and good. It's just that there was one shower room that had a broken door (couldn't be closed) and it made it more difficult to use. The door was not fixed by the time I stayed there (only 2 days) and it looks like it had been in that state for a while...
9,6 Excellent
Pros:
Cons: inconsiderate, noisy guests. breakfast is expensive not good value.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The property was refurbished since I first stayed there and is much more comfortable than before. It is warm, clean and in good repair. My only small criticism is that there is no kitchen, just the pub food, which is not really Budget prices
Cons: If it had a kitchen
4,2 Okay
Pros:
Cons: The people who worked here were the dumbest losers I'd ever experienced. The guy at the front desk wouldn't book me in, he made me go online to book in even though I was standing at the front desk. I asked a simple question "how far is it to Westminster Bridge?" and the fool had no idea. Also the room I was in had 24 beds like a slave ship. The fool at the front desk couldn't even write the door code down properly so I was unable to enter the room. The breakfast was pathetic.

Pros: Staff are great. Breakfast was overpriced but good. Beds were comfy and clean
Cons: Lights didn’t turn out in room overnight. No plugins in bathroom. Long wait to use showers (just a couple per floor) and the toilets are in same area, so constantly in use.

Pros: best staff ever! really great amenities. I felt safe leaving my stuff in the room. the pub was also a great place to hang out. great beer and food. good conversation.
Cons:

Pros: Check in was very easy, locks and towels provided if needed. The pub was very cute and clean.
Cons: It was bit too warm and the room was a little small for the amount of bodies in there but the bed itself was very comfortable!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It has recently undergone extensive re-vamping. Toilets and showers are much improved and the new lectroniccard locks are good. It is in the right place for me. Vis
Cons: Food is not really to my taste. Not a big problem but the have stopped serving Guinness.

Pros: We loved everything ! Beds are so confy, showers and dorms are super clean, pub is nice and staff is very helpful !
Cons: The « night » light. There should be some other way to fix it like with curtains :) I wish it could have been possible to open the window more.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A short walk from the Victoria Underground station and Victoria Coach Station. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds and good beer
Cons: Everything was fine really, one minor thing is that one of the shower doors didn’t lock, but there were several others available

Pros: how big the hostel is and the quiet court rooms, washing/drying facilities and the general cleanliness. All the staff were very friendly and helpful all big personalities
Cons: The Kitchen.. is not open until 1pm each day. and during the evening it is almost impossible to cook as its obviously too small for the amount of people who are staying in the hostel every night, its been time for an upgrade for a long time. This was my second stay a year apart and the same problem is still present
7,9 Good
Pros: Clean bathrooms. Surprisingly comfy mattress. Good wifi
Cons: Cell rooms are claustrophobic, no windows, no ventilation. Whole hostel has no ventilation, so it has a funny smell. Staff not so helpful.

Everything I need can be found in this hostel, such as a printer, a study room, etc. I even found a book of Inca and Maya civilization, which extremely and pleasantly surprised me!
Cons: The 4-bed room I lived is rather small---difficult to accommodate several big suitcases. Another problem is your roommate---a snorer can be a disaster! I used to choose the mix room, but the ladies' room will be my first choice in the future. It is so easy to come across a male roommate snoring, while this hardly happens among female roommates. This is not the fault of the hostel, but just the experience I got.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location, free storage room, and free breakfast incuded in my room price.
Cons: The wall is so thin. I heard people keep knocking the door of the opposite room, and toilet in the morning. The toilet is a bit small.

Pros: The reception area was pretty cool, I liked the couch and the fact it was so close to the train station (approx 10min walk)
Cons: Where to start. - staff weren’t very friendly, they weren’t horrible but they could of definitely improved on their customer service skills. - the rooms were so tiny you couldn’t stand in there, I was in a room with 7 other people and it was physically impossible for more than 3 people to stand at once. - there were no fans or aircon or any sort of ventilation in the rooms. - I got bitten by something each night, I’m assuming bed bugs as I was left with little red bites all over my body. - the en-suite was unusable unless your the size of a 10yo child - the shared showers were disgusting, not clean, water sprayed out in all different directions, only run for 30 second intervals and was COLD. There was mould all over the walls and paint peeling off the roof. - the bar and kitchen area were ok but smelt terrible and there was NO social vibe at all in the area. Was very disappointing. - the area around the hostel, was dirty, uninviting and I did not feel safe.

There are a lot of events and activities organized in the social areas where you can meet a lot of different people and hangout. The Generator was located really closed to the university I was attending so that was really convenient. Cheap places to eat near the university campus.
Cons: It's not convenient for long term stays. I had a trolley bag that I could thankfully store within my bunk bed drawer (it's a really nice and big drawer) + a larger bag that I had to store in the paid lockers (8£/24h*9days) downstairs. Most services are additional charges to your stay (lockers, washing machine, dryer, towel, breakfast, ...). If you don't want people to touch your stuff, remembering to always store your belongings in the drawer when you leave the room can become a chore. The facilities were smaller and more worn then they looked on the photos. The women's bathroom on the fifth floor (my floor) was closed for maintenance of the floor tiles for most of my stay.

I was very happy with the Generator Hostel.
Cons: The mornings were rough .You had to time it right to get a sink in the bathroom. Everyone seemed to need the showers at the same time. You just have to try to avoid the busy times.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Upon arrival check in was fine. But after that the staff were not very friendly at all, they're all in one big friendship group from the same nationality in Southern Europe, won't name any names. The barmaid was arrogant and attended her friends more than customers. The bathroom showers were horrendous, I've served 6 years in the military and have seen much better showers in the army. The location though is pretty good, close to Euston and King's Cross station, and the vibe of the bar was good with the other patrons. The rooms were cramped and didn't have enough coat hooks for all guests.

Pros: Location.
Cons: When we checked in we were given the wrong room number and tried to get into a room that was already occuppied by two men, this was very embarassing. Finally when we got to our room we found it to be dirty especially the floor and the fan. We expected two lockers in our room (as described on the website) but there were none.... Be careful of the locker facility as it is charged my bank card twice for using it on our last day, once when we put the luggage in £6 and then £8 to get out luggage out again!!! Hmmm I definitely would not choose to stay here again!!!

Pros: Overall, as a 20-something, using this as a cheap place to sleep for the night while seeing London this worked for me and allowed me to spend my travel money on the things I wanted to do. The hostel does provide breakfast, and a 10% off discount for anything you order at the bar (burger and a beer is normally 15 pounds, so you get that for 13.50). The staff was friendly, and the bedding was clean in the hostel. The showers had warm water and seemed to be cleaned on a somewhat regular basis. The bar area is open to you 24 hours a day, though the kitchen closes at 10 and the bar closes to the public at midnight.
Beyond that, you can't beat the location in terms of it being a launching point for getting around the city. You are on several bus lines and three different tube lines. You are also only a mile's walk from Hyde park on a main road that is well lit, even at night.

Cons: There is no lift & the stairs were narrowed....especially when you have big bags & more than 1 luggage. My rromate actually booked from 11-15 Sept but she checked out on the 12 Sept due to the room is too small. Not as per in the picture shown. My room is a Female Room for 3 pax but during the last night.....middle of the night, me & another lady from Brazil were awaken when the hostel staff came in to our room & asked whether we mind having a guy to stay in our room....since it was after midnight & both of us are checking out the next morning...we have agreed but if we were to check out later....we will not allow as this room is stated for FEMALE ONLY.

Cons: First off, if you are a light sleeper, don't choose this hostel. It is on a highly-used road and the windows will be open in the room. If you wake up at every horn or siren, you will not have a good time sleeping here. In addition to that, the larger rooms have 24 people, so you can expect them to be coming and going at all hours, some quietly, some not (which also means your experience is not 100% on the hostel staff). Bar noise was non-existent, so don't worry about that.
The breakfast was a bit of a zoo, and a bit of a disappointment. They had loaves of bread with a toaster (butter and jam), some cereal and milk. There was also tea and coffee. It was pretty well picked over by 8:15, and the staff was too busy cleaning the bar to replace anything. To that end, the staff in the hostel always seemed to be stretched too thin. People are working the hostel front desk and the bar at the same time. They are not mean about it, but if you catch it wrong, you can end up waiting a bit to be helped. There were also a few people who were sleeping in the hallway at times, though I was not sure if they were just too drunk to remember their passcodes or had snuck in. Also, I never saw any semblance of a manager for either the bar or the hostel (not that I ever needed one).
The cleanliness of the rooms and the bathrooms left something to be desired, the rooms especially. Though I didn't spend much time in them, there was usually some crumbs / scraps of wrappers on the floor, which did not feel clean even when those larger pieces of rubbish were not there. This comes back to you experience being tied to the people you are in the room with however. In particular, there was one person who's luggage smelled like a college student's laundry bin that had been left to sit during the winter break, in-short, really bad.
My final warning would be that there are not a lot of power outlets in the rooms, and there are only two bathrooms to accommodate 50+ people, as opposed to 4 showers.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were clean, and everybody was very respectful. The location is good- right next to the underground. We didn't really hear any noise from the pub downstairs, which had a lovely atmosphere!
Cons: The rooms were very warm, but luckily it wasn't too bad due to a fan. There was also quite a lot of street noise, but if you live in a city then you'll be used to that level of noise.

Pros: The staff was incredibly friendly, they gave me a towel for free because I was staying for so many nights.
Any time there was an issue it was solved immediately.
Met a lot of great people staying at the hostel.
The bar was low key and the beer/cider was relatively cheap. The pool table was great for something to do when everyone was winding down for bed.
The whole place was cleaned every day, the cleaning ladies were very nice.
It was cheap and close to a national railway station, an overground station, and a docklands light railway station. If you stay here, definitely get an oyster card!
I really enjoyed my stay!

Cons: The pictures are a little deceiving, the place is a little disheveled. The chairs and tables in the bar are in various states of falling apart.
The water had to be shut off for an hour in the middle of the day when there was a leak that went from the toilets upstairs, through a room, and down into the kitchen area. They felt really bad and gave those of us that were there a free beer. The situation was dealt with very quickly.
One morning the toilets were out of order upstairs, so you had to go downstairs. When I came back a couple hours later the situation was dealt with.
The neighborhood is a little bit of a trek from downtown London. You've got to take at least two trains to get to the real sight seeing stuff. It's also a little rough as a neighborhood, but I never had any issues staying there for 10 days.

Pros: One staff, a guy with beard and glasses, was very nice and helpful. I cannot find my room so he showed me and helped me with my bags.
Cons: The staff was so rude especially at the reception. My first impression was not impressive. The hostel is big so the facility is not very good. The bathroom is a mini size and not handy. There is NO WIFI IN THE BEDROOM. I barely work in the public space too. It’s a cheap hostel so you get what you pay for. It’s alright for the price but It’s not a good experience hostel for me.

Pros: Good location, staff, and for a cheap basic night in London as a layover it was fine for one night

Pros: The location and the fact that the bus station is near the hostel. The hostel is very clean (the room, bathroom and toilet perfectly cleaned !!)
Cons: No elevator to go to the 4th floor, the rooms are small for 4 personnes and no boxes to leave the luggages inside the room (you have to pay a box which is at the reception !!! ???). Unfortunatly, in the 4th floor no way to use internet the signal is too low.

Pros:
Cons: Seeing a mouse , lift was broken, dim lighting, sink plug confusion, wifi didnt reach upstairs well
4,6 Okay
Pros: The food available at the hostel was good.
Cons: The rooms are very very small, we were in four and we had to sleep with our luggages on the bed because there’s no space on the floor. The elevator was broken and we had to go up 4 floors with all the bags and nobody from the staff volunteered to help. The bathrooms are also smalls and far from the room. You can’t choose the temperature of the shower water, it is always very hot. The nearest subway (underground) station is Elephant and Castle and yet you need to walk a lot. I sincerely do not recommend this place to anyone.

Cons: The staff in the reception are horrible! The Italian ones specially speaking.. how rude can some people be? Both Italian ladies in the reception would speak in italian language to each other and laugh at my face just because I didn't feel comfortable staying at a mixed room and wanted a female room. Very unprofessional. What a disgrace for the hostel these women are. Have the decency to speak about guests behind their back not infront of their faces!!!

Pros:
Cons: The pictures do not show the real quality of the room. Walls were pealing and dirty, floors were not clean, the bathroom facilities were cramped and gross, beds were horribly quality with springs poking you, and the staff was not service oriented or very friendly. Very disappointed in this location. After talking with some people in London we came to find out that our experience is not normal with hostels, most of the time they are better kept. This was pretty bad. Don’t trust the pictures you see in their ads, they aren’t what you will get.

Pros: Right around the corner from public transport. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pretty good value.
Cons: Rooms and facilities were suffering from either age, or poor design. Sometimes both. Had to spend a lot of time at cafes, because the room did not have an electrical socket for me to charge my phone. Only ventillation in the room was from an open window, exposing you to all kinds of traffic noise throughout the night.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Not much I can say was good honestly, efficient check in and luggage room for the day was good. Location is right by Earls court tube station, lots of pubs and shops nearby.
Cons: Nothing like what i expected or lead to believe from images of the hostel, it was unclean, smelt bad and the staff were less than helpful. Location is great but the actual rooms and facilities leave a lot to be desired, it did the job for a night but I wouldn't recommend. Breakfast is literally just cornflakes, they have hot drinks machine but there were no teabags, staff were lazy and barely even looked at guests. There was no storage or option to lock away bags in the room and mattress was very hard.
