Pros: Absolutely everything! It’s fantastic
Cons: Nothing
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fantastic - great selection of delicious food. Staff amazing and very helpful,
Cons: I took exception to being charged a "tray fee" of R30 for bringing my coffee up to my room. I felt it was ridiculous - when you are spending the kind of money the least they can do is deliver coffee without charging a tray fee. I would have rather wandered down to get my own coffee. Also not enough plugs in the room - I had to plug the kettle into the plug and put the plug on the floor. I also couldn't work out how to use your tv.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about it
4,2 Okay
Pros: The view from the balcony. Helpful car parking.
Cons: The hotel is looking tired and lacking maintenance. The panel had fallen off the bath, the shower door did not close, the phone in the room didn't work, there was no alarm clock, the lighting was very poor. The worst thing was the centrally controlled air conditioning. When we arrived it was windy and quite cold and they had the air conditioning very cold the suite was freezing and there was no way of turning off the air conditioning. It then turned warm and they turned the air conditioning off making the bedroom too hot to sleep (26c). I will not be staying there again until they sort themselves out.

Cons: Nothing
7,1 Good
Pros: The manager of the guest house Elsabe was excellent and does a really good job. She is friendly and very helpful. The guest house is good value for money
Cons: The pictures online make this guest house look really amazing and the reviews were really high giving us a false expectation but once we arrived . Everything is looking really tired and old for example legs of chairs and tables badly scuffed, and fridges rusted, old soft furnishing so it feels unclean even though it wasnt. It is these small things that need to be done which would have changed our opinion from average to awesome.

Pros: It is a lovely establishment in a peaceful and tranquil suburb. It is also close to restaurants in the area.
Cons: We were slightly overcharged. The establishment didn't apply the booking.com genius discount. When booking we had the choice of being charged the same day by Booking.com or letting the establishment charge us at a later stage. We made the mistake of choosing the latter option.

Pros: The owners and host Tosca and Gary are very hands-on , make you feel at home.
Cons: Room 8 Wi-Fi network was down, otherwise there is nothing to dislike about the place.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location for what we needed to do was excellent
Cons: We arrived early and my husband needed the bathroom so the an employee allowed us entry and phoned the owner who returned to the lodge and pretty much confronted us for being early no one was to be booked in early and this kind of soured the whole trip for us. Also when queried about message we received re parking she was pretty argumentative- did not listen to what we were asking at all. Also advertising full dstv bouquet which we could not use as we were to go and request them to change channels and only up until 7 in the evening - rather don't advertise that you have full bouquet. Also price very high for what was on offer.

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and well presented Location was within 10minutes of our function
Cons: Struggled a wee bit entering at the gate- not enough space to turn into parking when using a Large Van
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious rooms, aircon that actually works, beautiful house, safe and the hosts are awesome people. Loved the breakfast too!
Cons: One of thee most beautiful guest houses I had stayed at. The hosts are amazing and if I come to Durban, you'll find me lodging here!
5,8 Okay
Pros: Gary was Amazing. Very warm and caring individual. Our stay was only favorable due to the hospitality received from Gary. He has a good heart with a very friendly approach to people. The place was beautiful, which is expected from most B&B's and Guesthouses etc. But when thinking of the whole experience it was just Gary that we can give accolades to for making our stay enjoyable. The main house is beautiful and fortunately there are only two rooms that are under the roof parking. The breakfast is standard, not buffet, however Gary cooked up a delicious meal and his hospitality was amazing as always. Gary saw us out on departure and was Amazing throughout.
Cons: The location is in a very small street. On arrival we pressed the intercom to enter the premises however the neighbor across the road needed to enter her property. As a result we were forced to move our car so she can get into the property. On returning back to the intercom we were met with an very abrupt lady (will not disclose her name even though known); who was clearly upset with us for not being at the intercom when she came on. This is what set off a distasteful taste in the start of our trip, so as we all know if things start off distasteful its going to end that way. We were then met with a disgruntled lady who appeared still upset that she had to walk to the gate to meet us. We remained pleasant however already feeling discomfort. She then took us to our room which is a beautiful room. Very spacious and private, however there was a smell of damp in the air. The room is situated under a roof parking so that could have been the reason, however on my stating there is a damp smell in the room, this made the lady get even more riled up. She offered to take us to another room however she was already at this point trying to be helpful however in a very unfriendly disgruntled manner. She had already deducted the full amount for the accommodation, even though booking.com, stated we would only be charged when we get to the location, so we were forced to take it. We were offered a better room but by this time were so uncomfortable at being there due to the reaction from her. The second room that was offered was warmer with no damp smell as it was in the main house. We got ourselves ready and left the premises. She did not offer us the WIFI password like other B&B's and guesthouses etc offer. We had to ask Gary for it in the morning before we left. We were basically greeted with a smile by Gary but not from the Lady throughout our stay!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Tosca and Gary are wonderful hosts. They are both interesting to talk with and helpful ! They helped us planning our journey, gave us good adresses in Durban and helped to fix a problem with our car, all in one day ! The guesthouse is beautiful and cosy and the view on Durban Harbour is breathtaking !

Cons: I was missing the fridge in the room.

Cons: It did not showed I already paid when I arrived at hotel. I was pressured to pay again. When I had evidence that I paid twice the hotel was very unprofessional in addressing the matter. They said that the card on file that booking.com was booked ended in a number that was not any of my cards. They said I needed a letter from my bank in order to get a refund. I came back to the desk 3 times. They told me it would be handled at checkout. They demanded copies of my bank statement and other private details and had me do paperwork when I was needing to go to the airport. The process took two hours before it was settled. I am also angry with booking.com as the hotel says this happens frequently with your bookings. That your payments are delayed. Though if this does happen, I don’t know why a smoother process for refunding isn’t in place. They said that the problem was I paid with my business debit— as in directly from my bank account— rather than a credit card. It seems that hotels are no longer set up for the fiscally responsible who actually have the money in their account to spend versus needing to rely on credit.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Always good.
Cons: Restaurants need work.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good location with easy access to the beach

Pros: The location was superb, the food excellent, and the price unbeatable! Totally blew away my expectations.
Cons: The room had a few things broken, including the window so when it was windy it would hiss.
7,0 Good
Pros: I will love to get double room so that I can stay nice with my children next September
5,4 Okay
Pros: the breakfast area was overcrowded and we could not wait any longer in the queue and had to leave without breakfast. the bathroom is rather dated. I stayed at the hotel some years back at it was much better. Very disappointed.
6,0 Good
Pros: The ocean view from my room on the 21st floor was good. The breakfast is also good with a variety of food choices.
Cons: The noise from the air conditioning system in the hotel. Also, there is a gap between the fixed glass frame and sliding windows in the room that allows a lot of air through it. Finally, the room does not have a central heating system for cold weather!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is always fresh, the choice is quite wide from fruits; cereals; breads; fresh juice; coffee and tea.
Cons: Blankets are small and short but warm

Pros: Cuisine
Cons: Internet data cap

Pros: Great location, nice building, is good for the time (2 days). I think is good for business people .
Cons: So many employees and no Valet parking, no professional concierge.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Relatively good service at the Hilton, front desk was just amazing, with check in and making sure all is in order. A place to stay with a family for leisure as well as business as I've always been here only for meetings and meals before. The location, reception area, pool, gym facilities and restaurants were good, the service were pleasant and the staff friendly. Rooms needs a bit of attention to detail and carpets. Breakfast was a combination of luxury and variety.

Pros: Stay was okay...after travelling from East London for 8 hours. Had a good night sleep but when we asked for a cup of coffee in the morning we were denied and said we did not book breakfast. There was only items in room for one cup of coffee and we were 2 guests. So for that I will never book there again. Being bluntly turned down for coffee after spending money for a stay threw my top off.
Cons: No coffee

Cons: Nothing .
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness and swift booking in
Cons: TV not clear and not enough channels
5,8 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was nice and filling. Waking up to fresh air and a cool sea breeze with a nice view always gets to my heart.
Cons: The cleaning staff seems a bit incompetent. They kept knocking on our door even though we had the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on the door. We left the room to go to the mall only to come back to find that someone was in our room, even though we still had the sign up. It really raises eyebrows about the security of the area and the competency of the cleaning staff.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very vibey café on ground floor (Café Jiran), elegant 60 styles lobby. Prices are good and staff are very friendly.
Cons: Rooms quite basic, blue plastic sheeting on windows (presumably for thermal protection against the sun) is tacky. The family suite, which is advertised as having two bedrooms, is really one bedroom and an upgraded broom closet.
4,6 Okay
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Dirty! Rooms are filthy
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location on the north beach, very quiet, away from the very busy south beach. We had an ocean view, absolutely breathtaking! The staff were great. When I couldn't connect to the WiFi, they didn't hesitate to get me another connection and password. My swimsuit was misplaced but it was quickly retrieved for me. Thanks!
Cons: I had a hard time closing the windows that open to the hallway, but it was taken care of by the staff.

Cons: i wish the price we pay included the breakfast
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very clean and their service is generally good ( their response time on requests is commendable)
Cons: For some strange reason they were unable to retrieve my prokard. Initially I was assured that the matter would be resolved. Then I was told to attend to it. I called prokard directly and it turned out that they should actually address it. The hotel’s management got involved and the matter was resolved. But it was a slight glitch, which could’ve been easily resolved without upsetting me in the process

Pros: The room set was perfect as we were there with our 4 month year old son, the hotel staff made our stay as welcoming as possible, everyone carried a smile at all times and were so helpful in every way, Eg I had a problem with my WiFi connection and Njabulo from reception assisted me in just a minute. The General Manager is fond of people and is from the same town as we are so we related quiet well for the short time we spoke. The reception staff were professional and have a client centric culture. Thank you Protea Hotel by Marriott Karridene Beach.

Pros: Decently sized, clean room and bathroom. Good sea views from our 2nd floor room. Great beach access to a quiet, almost private, beach.
Cons: It’s a very noisy hotel. Staff talk loudly in the corridors almost as early as 7am. Other guests are loud at all parts of the night and bang things in their rooms which you can hear so loudly which also breaks your sleep in the middle of the night. The facilities are average.

Pros: Well situated hotel. Wonderful room size, very spacious.
Cons: The hotel charged me twice and claimed that I was a no-show. Front of house admin therefore somewhat problematic. I hope this gets sorted out quickly. I did not like being disturbed on Sunday morning at 08:00 by gospel music sounds coming from one of the main rooms, it was loud and intrusive for about 15 minutes.

Pros: The rooms are spacious and the staff is friendly.
