10,0 Excellent
Pros: What a fantastic place ! Would definitely recommend staying here. The staff are lovely and so thoughtful, from personalised notes in your room, to mapping out routes and shortcuts, every staff member is so cheerful and helpful. The rooms are gorgeous, with amazing views and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious. Can't recommend this spot enough!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, super friendly host, the wine area is fantastic!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice view from our cottage. Also breakfast is great and we loved the two house cats that walked around. The cottage itself is comfortable, great beds. We were here in Winter, so we couldn´t enjoy the private pool, but I am sure it is great in summer.
Cons: The room was a bit cold with all the concrete in it, and lighting could be more cosy. There were road works in the entrance way to Sugar Bird Manor, which sometimes took about 15-20 minutes waiting time. We had chosen Stellenbosch for our stay near Cape Town as this looked a very central place and yet near the city, but in reality Stellenbosch is quite some travelling time away from the coast and from the city (about 1-1,5 hrs)

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room - spacious and well set up
Cons: The large mirror in the bathroom did not work
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for five nights - and really enjoyed it. Not least did we appreciate the small 'extras' - e.g. owners and staff taking time to explain in detail the history of the estate and the region, and helping us out with some parcels that were stuck with Customs. M.S.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb and excellent staff.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The host and staff were very accommodating, from booking to departure. They had also pampered me with a supply of sweets every evening. The location is excellent for business in the University. Eateries and shops, as well as, tourist attractions, are all within walking distance. Breakfast was very good- a big selection of goodies.
Cons: I couldn't ask for more.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: There was an elaborate breakfast for a good start of your day; secure parking behind the guesthouse; friendly and helpful staff; a lot of effort was made to reduce excessive water wastage.
Cons: There was nothing that really bothered us during our stay. If we had to say something, it was something about the persistent drought period affecting the Western Cape. To reduce excessive water usage, you could not run a bath. Furthermore, a large bucket was placed in the shower to capture "grey water". This water would then be used for cleaning the room. This was only a minor inconvenience that we very well understood.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service and lovely to stay!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We appreciated checking in slightly early so we could leave our belongings and car safely whilst we walked into town. Lovely breakfasts, helpful and friendly staff. Attention to detail noted in our room e.g. Cotton buds, needle, razor, toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities etc. Central location and easy short walk to bars and restaurants. Beautiful garden area with pool towels provided which was also peaceful. A very enjoyable stay overall.
Cons: Bathroom very compact and bath unable to be used due to water shortage ( which we understand)

10,0 Excellent
Pros: That I didn't have to travel anywhere. Everything I wanted was on premises.
Cons: Nitpicking here but a round two point plug in the room please. One was provided quickly though.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing hotel, we finished up honeymoon here and it was the perfect place to finish. Big, comfortable peaceful rooms, amazing views of the vineyards and mountains. Great restaurant and gin bar and a great breakfast, especially when you have it in the sunshine on the terrace overlooking the lake. Really brilliant, friendly staff, nothing was too much for them and they really made our stay. Wish we were still there!
Cons: Nothing
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful surroundings
Cons: Insistence that my friend provide identification
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great wine. Views! Food!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Calm, Serene, Clean and lots of wine from their own vineyards. Probably one of the best relax-holidays I had in a very long time
Cons: The restaurant is slightly disappointing. You’d expect at such an estate to really have a superb restaurant (cause I don’t want to leave the estate, so i’ll eat there). The food is quite mediocre. The had some passable dishes: - fish - springbok - banana desert But other than that the food was not good. Pizzas are underdressed, the chicken was dry and the burger.... oh the burger... let’s just say Mc Donalds would rank higher... that was absolutely tragic.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was exceptional, staff were friendly and breakfast was delicious!
8,2 Excellent
Pros: The location; The room decoration, facilities and size. Staff always ready to help.
Cons: Our room (number 2??) was in the 1st level of a building far away from the reception, restaurant and hotel entrance. To reach it you have to climb a very steep staircase with very high steps. For someone over 70 this is a big inconvenience. In fact, it seems this no place for people with walking difficulties. Lots of stairs are the rule. It must be said that the staff are always ready to help. But even so...

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Stunning property. We stayed in River Manor Rooms 1 & 2 which share a balcony on the 2nd floor. Both rooms were gorgeous with huge comfortable beds. Room 2 has big long sliding doors with a lovely view out into the vineyards. Good wifi. Nice breakfast on the 1st floor of the house and parking was right outside so very convenient.
Cons: It might be better if the staff asked “would you like some hot breakfast?” instead of “would you like more breakfast?”. We thought she meant more bread and coffee/tea so we said no, only to realise later she meant bacon and eggs when we saw the other guests eating it. Also, the glass door of the shower stall in Room 2 couldn’t close well.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nature, service, Manor House, views, breakfast
Cons: perhaps offer dining in house, wine tasting and in room telephone so we can call reception if any issues.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Second visit to this beautiful wine estate, it does not disappoint!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The views were incredible we chose the Mountain View suite.
Cons: It is unbelievable expensive !! looking and visiting other vineyards around the area although Molen is gorgeous it is truly exceptionally pricey given area, location and other stunning vineyard around. Also, It’s a small vineyard so not much to do in terms of walking and they don’t even have wine tasting. So you are pretty much alone with view and nothing else to do.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The views all around this property is probably one of the most impressive sights Iv ever seen. It is utterly beautiful and I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Cons: Nothing.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, bacon was to hard and the fruit and cereal not for everyone, so let people dish what they want. Location good.
Cons: Please provide blankets in room it was freezing although there is an aircon.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel premisses and view from the hotel rooms.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Great location if you have a vehicle, it is outside of Stellenbosch on the road to Franschhoek, stunning location, staff and breakfast, a major wedding venue in SA so weekend stays can be difficult, would highly recommend .
Cons: Nothing to complain about at all, very quiet and secluded and if security is an issue with you don't worry it is top notch.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The location was beautiful
Cons: 1. My room wasn’t cleaned for my entire duration of my stay. 2. You are unable to order any kind of room service. Not even a coffee. 3. When going to the manor house in the evening for dinner, they weren’t able to take me with the go cart because he said there was no one else there. 4. With breakfast it’s very much an ‘either or’. Not a huge variety of things. 5. No telephone in the room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible!!

Pros: In our trip along the west-Cape we stayed for 1 night in the Fynbos Villa Guest House. Mainly to enjoy wonderful wine tastings at Tokara and Delairre Graf Wine Estates. After this we were welcomed very wholeheartedly at the guest house and stayed with the 3 of us at the converted barn part. Nice, clean and a perfect location to walk safely into the city centre at night which is vibrant and full of nice restaurants and bars with a mix of young and old public. The grounds are also lovely with many amenities - spa, pool, restaurant, casual dining, bar and ample room to relax outdoors. Staff were extremely helpful with any queries we had. Cons: only thing I didn't like was the restaurant wasn't open the night I was there, Wednesday...…..
7,1 Good
Pros: The staff were lovely and really made an effort. The hotel is really funky and fun.
Cons: I am not sure if we just got a bad room, but I found it really dark and bit run down. It also had a terrible mouldy smell in the bathroom. I had to open all the windows and struggled with the bedroom one as the blind was broken and didnt roll up. Also there were damaged tiles on our patio which seem to have disintegrated into clay sand and hadnt been sweeped out , so my son hurt himself when he went out there and both of us had to wash our socks covered in sand. maybe 5 of Listed DSTV channels worked, none of the others. With regards to breakfast, I sent a mail informing the hotel prior to our stay that myself and my husband were vegan for breakfast. When we got there we were told there was no note about this, there wasnt really anything for breakfast that was vegan aside for some toast and fruit and they ran out of almond milk so we couldnt have coffee. Overall the staff were nice and the place was cute, I would come again and give it another try in a different room but I do feel like there is a lot of maintenace required.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very peaceful and was ideal for my three day 'check out of life and relax' break. Staff were awesome and so friendly and helpful and my room was cleaned twice a day. Also the in-room nespresso machine was a lovely add on for my coffee needs.

Pros: I am absolutely in love with the style of the newly renovated rooms. That is a real update to the already beautiful pictures I saw online. Staff is really really nice and absolutely helpful in organizing tours or dinner reservation. I felt very warmly welcomed!
Cons: If you stay in one of the rooms on ground floor, you can be sure to be awake before 7 AM. The house starts to get busy with staff preparing breakfast, so you are gently wakened with the smell of coffee and toast or pancakes.

Pros: Friendly staff! Nice spacious, clean rooms. Various dinner and lunch options on site! Great wine selections
Cons: Not much
7,4 Good
Pros: Grounds of hotel were beautiful and peaceful
Cons: Bed was horrible and way too hard and the on site spa average. My body hurts more because of the bed and the massage at the spa was just so so.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The peace and tranquility. The opportunity for walks and exploring the estate. Loved hearing the birds in the early morning. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The spa treatment was a real treat too! Impressed by Spiers community education and empowering programs... well done. I dont drink alcohol so not interested in the wines, etc but Spier is more than that.
Cons: The windows needed blinds or inner curtains for more privacy. I could only open the curtains slightly to ensure my privacy.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The place is marvellous. Really quite and great place to relax. Everything is slowed down so you vanish your stress away. The views are magnificent . The room was enourmus with even a fireplace.
Cons: Everythingwas overall great. However there were some things not so nice: There's no discounts for wine tasting or birds sanctuary if you sleep in the hotel. Also we bought a lot of wine and there was no package for international airfreights (at least i expected the non fancy bubble wrap that every souvenir store use).
7,5 Good
Pros: The surroundings and the picnic
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is my 2nd time visiting Spier and its absolutely stunning.

Pros: Though we arrived late as our flight was delayed, we received a warm welcome and enjoyed a restful night after a long flight before we took off on exploring other areas of South Africa. We had previously stayed at Spier Hotel and were not disappointed with our brief stay on this occasion. The proximity to the Cape Town Airport is convenient.

Pros: Best stay of my life! Friendly attendants and always willing to help! The winery is beautiful and charming, we got a wine in the room for being our honeymoon, it was all very romantic. The wine tasting was sensational and they have an animal shelter with eagles, owls and other animals. We want to go back soon!

Cons: The bathrooms could be upgraded

7,1 Good
Pros: Room and view lovely.
Cons: Our room was serviced by a 'new staff member' so wet towels simply hung on rails wet in the morning. So when we got back in evening they were still wet and getting musty. No coffee pur into room on 2nd day. Took up with staff who really went the extra mile to apologize and make up for this

Pros: If you are looking for a place close to the center of Stellenbosch this is a nice place to stay. It is central to lots of places and things to do (if you have a car). The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, had everything we need. Price/quality wise it's a bit high, it was one of the more expensive stays we had in SA for what you get.
