Pros: The lounge upstairs offered great views of the sea and is the perfect spot to sit down and chat. There is a kettle with tea and coffee plus biscuits in the lounge, as well as a fridge.

Cons: I thought the breakfast on the first day of our visit was nothing special. There were little things I found strange like no water or glasses in the bedrooms, and no milk for coffee in the room either. We were not offered the tourist map other guests were given so be sure to ask for it.

Pros: Where does one start, have never experienced such fantastic hospitality like it, the extra touches were amazing, the breakfast was original and an eating experience, Nothing was too much trouble and the location beautiful. Will definitely try to go back in the not too distant future.

Pros: The house is breath-taking. Its completely stunning. The standards are incredibly high.

Cons: We were made to feel guilty about being given a complimentary upgrade, in an empty house. We specified that we were on our honeymoon, and they knowingly gave us twin beds. The next morning she mentioned that she did have the ability to put a cover over both beds to make it a double bed, however, she didn't as the room had already been made up for the guests staying the next night.

Pros: We had omelettes for breakfast which were freshly prepared, prior to that fresh fruit salad. The proprietors are on hand and are excellent, very friendly and knowledgable about vicinity. Great to chat to. The whole place is luxury standard with a deck area and small pool if you wish to relax in the sun.

Pros: The owners were extremely accommodating. We requested a vegan breakfast. This was no problem for the owners and we were given a delicious vegan breakfast which surpassed our expectations. Nice quiet neighborhood. Our room and upstairs accommodation felt extremely private.

Breakfast so delicious and the best walks around, safe and spectacular. They offered to book our restaurant (Pear Tree was fantastic) and our whale watching trip

Pros: We loved everything about Auberge Provence - we received a very warm welcome on arrival, were taken to our very comfortable room overlooking the ocean. The breakfasts were really excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - they made restaurant bookings, whale sighting bookings - basically everything we needed. We found the whole experience wonderful but the staff at the Auberge Provence just made it a wonderful home from home for us - Thank You!

Pros: This hotel is absolutely fabulous! The manager and staff gave us a very warm welcome with free coffee on arrival. We received a lot of tips for exploring the environment. We had bookings in 15 different hotels during our holidays in Afrika but this hotel was the cleanest hotel ever seen. Breakfast is superb, Amazing !!!

Pros: The only thing that that bothered me was the finishes in our bathroom - the edges of the bath and floor area looked unfinished and dirty but I know they weren’t as the cleanliness of the whole hotel was good but could be reviewed and sorted with little effort The staff were exceptionally good and helpful so would definitely recommend

Pros: Stunning location across from the Bay. Beautiful bedrooms with en suite but the spa bath plug was removed to save water so disappointingly I couldn't use the Spa. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The only downfall is the noise from the reception area travelled into our room number 4. Fabulous stay and will visit the Whales again next year!

What I liked is that I was fully orientated to the guesthouse and invited to sit in the lounge because my room was very small. I cannot complain about it, because I paid a very low price for it. Pros: We stayed at the place for 2 nights and really liked it. We had a lovely spacious room and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The house and garden area felt very relaxing and is very secured. There are gates to come through to enter the whole property and parking lots for cars. It is also very close to start the walk for the Cliff Path which made this attraction convenient for us and just a few mins drive into the center to bars and restaurants.

Cons: Maybe without own car a bit outside of the center but since we had a car, no problem for us. There is a township close by but as long as you don’t walk around in the dark, we felt very safe

Pros: Everything was Fabulous, Staff, Room, Food, Garden, Pool and Grounds. All staff super friendly and so helpful, they go above & beyond in everything they do...it felt like I had my own personal staff and they did this for all clients. The lodge felt really homely and welcoming and the food is freshly cooked cooked for you to your own wishes. I have travelled extensively all over the world and have to say this is one of my favourite places, if not my most favourite place I have ever stayed. Am definitely returning to stay there and would recommend to anyone.

Pros: Location was close enough to the “downtown” area at about a 5 min walk. Ocean view from the 1st floor patio was amazing.

Cons: Restaurant for dinner was mediocre, should have probably eaten in the city area. Breakfast, however, was quite nice with a variety of hot plates to choose from as well as a bountiful cold buffet.

Pros: Breakfast was great and the location is perfect, just a short walk into town.

Cons: The room that we booked was on the ground floor which was very close to reception, we could sometimes hear guests at reception.

Pros: Nice breakfast buffet includes fresh-cooked eggs and other items. The view from the top floor room was fabulous--for watching whales or just the ocean. The room was huge, the bathroom well appointed with a huge 2 shower-head shower. Location is great, right on the walking path along the ocean that leads to the downtown in 10 minutes or a longer walk that is gorgeous.

Cons: The breakfast was perfectly done but the waitering was poor. Staff appeared to be on a 'go slow' each day. The actual restaurant was not quite the quality decor of the hotel but acceptable. A bigger selection of cheeses would have been welcomed and a few more pastries. Sadly we were unfortunate to have had a very noisy couple staying above us which disturbed our night considerably.

I asked the staff to book a table at the hotel restaurant and when we arrived they had not a reservation for us. We had to wait again until they had a table available. Very poor service.

Pros: The hotel is excellently located with views across the bay and easy, direct access to the main part of town. The staff were friendly and the breakfasts are good with a great selection to choose from. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. The turn down service is also very nicely done.

Cons: The room I booked was a premier suite. It is advertised as 57m2, but when I got there was rather underwhelmed. The room only measures 44m2. In addition the room was advertised to have a patio and fireplace and when I questioned this with the GM, was told only 2 of the suites had this. The room itself was rather bland and the pictures on the booking.com app look nothing like the room I had. In addition, there were some things that one should not expect in a 5 star hotel: The Mini Bar, although complimentary, has a very limited stock of alcoholic beverages, especially for her. Only 4 beers. Maybe some prosecco or gin or white wine as not many woman are beer drinkers. The wifi was very haphazzard constantly dropping. If you turn the main tv on or off, the second TV also turns on and off. Very irritating as when you turn it off, the other tv turns on and then you have to get up and go and turn it off, also maybe an update of the tv's is required as the current ones are quite old with average picture quality. In the bathroom there is a bath with a hand shower. If you activate this, it sprays out the wall and out form the back of the handheld piece. Not much water comes out the nozzle, I only make these points known as these should not be things your experience in a 5 star hotel and especially at that room rate. So overall, I was a bit disappointed and feel that the "bang for buck" or wow factor did not exist.

Close to everything in town but far enough to feel secluded and on holiday. Loved literally everything.

Pros: What an amazing place! We had a room with two balconies with both mountain and sea views! The room was very large and so was the bath. The bed was so comfortable and our room was equipped with everything we wished for. Everything is so well thought through and you feel like home instantly. The breakfast was amazing, the staff and the hosts very nice and accommodating. There is parking on site. We just wished we could stay longer. Do not hesitate to stay while in Hermanus, it is worth every penny!!

Pros: The room size was very comfortable, the buffet breakfast was amazing with lots of options for all, the hydro pool was a lovely addition to the stay especially on colder days. The bathroom was also really great and offered a shower and a bath. The staff were so warm and welcoming, and always ready to assist.

Cons: The hydro pool area could have been cleaner and some of the tiles need to be redone as they were chipped. The shower in our bathroom could have also been cleaner - you could see grime on the white grout.

Cons: Great breakfast-large continental selection and a hot breakfast as well. Hot breakfast takes a little longer to prepare but there is plenty to satisfy you in the continental if you don’t have the time.

Pros: The hosts were exceptionally helpful with excellent knowledge and suggestions on what to do and where to eat in and around Hermanus. They offered excellent continental and hot breakfast options. We walked to a delicious local pizza spot.

Cons: The hot breakfast was delicious but slow. Not an issue for us but something to be aware of if you have a tight schedule.

Pros: The location suited us very well being outside of the main downtown area and close to the beach.Parking was easy and the guesthouse was in a safe and quiet neighbourhood.We were given the option to take a free upgrade to a king size bedroom suite which was a pleasant option to have.We did take the upgrade.Breakfast was very fulfilling and delicious with a great range of options.All in all a very enjoyable stay

Pros: Rolf was an excellent host. He was full of really useful information on where to eat what to visit. Without him we would never have discovered Fernkloof nature reserve which was the highlight of our stay. He went out of his way to make sure my husband had a good gluten free breakfast.

Pros: Location is great. Quiet neighborhood 10 minute walk to the ocean. Very nice rooms and house. Hosts are wonderful. Large front yard to hang out with a pool. Backyard is common to 3 of the rooms and very nice to have right out your bedroom door.

Pros: Our hosts, Rolf and Martina are delightful. It was a pleasure to meet such lovely attentive owners. The room was fabulous. Light, airy and clean. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and the location is brilliant. Just a short, easy walk to Town square and the fabulous cliff path- this is where life in Hermanus happens.

Pros: Location was only a few minutes drive from the old harbour and literally a few metres down the road from the new harbour. We had mistaken the new harbour for old and so when we arrived were a bit disappointed that it wasn't a quick walk to Hermanus centre. That of course was our mistake. There is a nice jogging trail that runs along the coastline which was lovely. The room is comfortable, slightly old fashioned and would not really recommend for younger travellers. I can say that the host was great in arranging some activities for us prior to arrival which we really appreciated and the lady who checked us in was sweet.

Cons: Shower was really small, neighbours really noisy. The TV only has selected channels and unfortunately didn't work too well during our stay. WiFi is OK but not a very strong signal. The room we stayed in was advertised as a Honeymoon room but wouldn't recommend it to honeymooners.

Pros: It wasn’t that far from town centre, quite and no noisy guests. Time mostly spend at night , therefore bit sized review

Cons: WiFi not effective To little tv channels to choose from. Little communication from management side even at time of leaving ,just a short good bye, hardly saw them. Curtain at front door not good at all.

Pros: The room we had at Anchors Rest was a very good size and was very well appointed. Another very nice feature is a private courtyard with braai facilities. This means that whilst you my be in an establishment with other visitors, you can enjoy yourself in this self contained and private setup.

Cons: We attempted to contact Anchors Rest to clarify something. Between attempting to phone and leaving a message till the time we arrived which was about 3 hours later, this call was not returned.

Pros: Location and the owner the lady was amazing. Breakfast over expetation

Pros: House on Westcliff was an amazing experience. The rooms are so beautiful and with the lovely prepared breakfast and very caring landlady our stay was perfect!

Pros: Beautiful house with a very comfortable and spacious family room. Two hot water bottles are provided to take the edge off of a chilly winter night. A decanter of sherry helps as well. Rene the manager is friendly and happy to help meet your needs ... breakfast is generous and starts with a fabulous fruit salad served in a hollowed out 1/2 pineapple. The spectacular cliff walk is a mere few steps away, and its an easy walk to town. Would stay here again on a future visit.

Pros: Breakfast was very nice, in addition to the pleasant dining hall. The garden is super nice and enjoyable (and there was the cutest puppy- Bobby!) It's in a quiet location, couple of minutes walk from the cliff path and couple of minutes drive to the village center- very good location indeed.

Cons: There was an annoying noise from the next room, I think from the water pipes when the guests were having a shower. Also, the door and one of the windows lack blinds (only curtains), so the room was not dark for sleep (early morning)

Pros: Great place for a big family. Big and spacious rooms. A very nice breakfast.

Pros: The owner (Petra) is a really nice lady, we have stayed with her before and had no hesitation in going back to her B+B again. Note you have to drive down to the town and restaurants in the evening, it's a little too far to walk.
