Best hotels in Southwark (London)

Cons: Nothing, just be aware it is a pub and there is music in the evening (but then, they offer free earplugs if you want to sleep early!)
5,0 Okay
Pros: The beds were comfortable and the location was great
Cons: The bathrooms were gross, there was NEVER any water in the water jug, even after 2am it was still VERY noisy within the hostel and in the bar. Thankfully my room was fine, but some of the rooms smelled like vomit. There weren't any towels for me to rent. They kept moving my bed every night which required me to constantly check in and check out. Very annoying and inconvenient.

Pros: The location. The staff was very nice and friendly and you could also check out as late as noon. Every bed had a socket and even a usb which is super convenient if you don't have an adapter. Bring your own padlock if you plan on using a locker.
Cons: Bedding and towels looked really worn out, the pillow was totally flat and not very comfortable. Breakfast was very simple, but what bothered me the most about it was that there were not so many tables, they were moved together as if for big companies and solo travelers like me were forced to unwillingly join others. Many people kept sitting there after finishing their meals and it was not always easy to find a place.

As a matter of fact is the worst hotel i have ever seen.

Pros: Location
Cons: The fact that except the time of checking in, hardly will you be able to have contact with any staff. For me I was promised that there will be somebody to collect my luggage from me by 10am, but this did not happen. I needed iron, there was nobody to ask as the pub does not open until 1pm which is the only time you can see someone to talk to. Also my bedding and towel were not changed for the 3 nights that I spent.

Pros: The location is great for proximity to the South Bank, Globe Theatre, Borough Market, Underground, etc.
Cons: This hotel used to be run by some very helpful and friendly staff from Spain. Those managers have gone. We were not welcomed. We were misinformed about breakfast. The old cafe has been removed and replaced with a modern but uninviting reception and coffee bar area. We did not eat or drink anything there. There was no hair dryer in the room. The towels and in-room coffee/tea service were not refreshed.

Pros: The location was okay as a bus stop was a two minute walk away but if you don't know the area like we didn't, we quickly learned from the taxi driver that took us there that it was an undesired area and warned us to be careful. It was really hot out and it was a bonus that there was air conditioning even though every time the cleaning girl came in they turned it up and we'd come back to a sauna.
Cons: The lobby was okay when you walk in but the hallways, elevator and rooms are very dingy as there isn't much lighting. It was dungeon like feeling. We walked in our room and it was gross. It was dirty the floors looks clean thank goodness there was no carpet but the walls had stains on them and looked like stuff splashed all over them. There was hair on the floor in the bathroom. The shower barely spit out water so you could barely shower off the drit you felt like you had all over you while there. We did not sleep under the covers as there was no mattress pad/cover over the mattress that looked like it was from the war because you could see it because the bottom sheet on the bed was not a fitted one. The decorative pillow on the bed had a huge stain on it and we didn't even want to think about what it was but it deserved to be thrown out. The pictures online look decent but that is not the case for the rooms. As well, the rooms are really loud with everything going on out side sirens all night long. We assumed there was minimal insulation and that the windows weren't the right thickness to block the sound. It felt like we had the window open and we live in a busy city so we are use to those sound but these were too amplified for sleeping. If we could have gotten a refund and moved we would have changed hotels in a heart beat!

Cons: everything
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very greate. We like to stay there.
Cons: It was good but coust some trobels. The window is blowing. We were three people, it would be good to have three separate blankets. One Entrance card work only on the principle and another only opens the front door. This causes a bit of inconvenience.

Cons: Bathroom bit small Called Tower Bridge but in reality nowhere near Tower Bridge - misleading, but subjective, depending on where you are visiting in London Not on easy tube route so buses essential

Pros: Noise from the bar downstairs was minimal, breakfast was a lot better than expected, fresh bread, tetley tea and proper butter. Staff accommodated me and my party all sharing the same room with another female so no mixed sharing which made us feel much more confident about our first stay in a hostel.

Cons: The room is basic, but you get what you pay for. You wouldnt go here expecting a 5 star hotel, the room is small but clean and comfortable.

Pros: Location
Cons: I booked this hotel as I needed a place to crash for the night before an early morning interview. I specifically booked due location and the need to be able to have a shower and be refreshed. When I came to use the shower it was scolding hot. Even with using a lot of force it was not possible to adjust the temperature control enough to cool the shower. It made it impossible to have a shower. I knocked on the reception door prior to leaving the hotel but no one was available. Later in the day I spoke with the hotel receptionist who confirmed that it was a known issue with the room. I requested a partial refund but this was denied. Very poor service.

Pros:
Cons: Minuscule room - double was actually a twin with the second bed on a deck with limited headroom. Place is a disused pub, and fit out appears to be bad diy throughout.

Pros: I liked that it was well located (less than 10 minutes walk to the Elephant & Castle tube station), St Pancras train station is 15 minutes away by tube and there are many buses around the hostel. You can also find a Spar and a Tesco Express supermarket as well as many kebabs next door if you want to grab something to eat. I stayed in a 4 beds dorm wich was clean and I had a nice view on the Shard. Toilets and shared showers were clean too.

I stayed in a 4 beds dorm wich was clean and I had a nice view on the Shard. Toilets and shared showers were clean too.
Cons: Wifi was only available in sharing areas (only reception, " bar " and tv lounge). Also, the windows in the dorm were old and made of glass that was partially shattered so you could hear the traffic as if you were sleeping in the street. It can also be quite cold so I don't recommend staying there during fall or winter. Bed's matresses aren't confortable so I wouldn't recommend staying there for too long either.
When it comes to eating in, there is a bar near the reception that sells £4 pizzas, sandwiches, coffee and many other things but it is only open from 12 to 19 and during these hours there wasn't anyone working at the bar so I couldn't get anything...
8,2 Excellent
Pros: This is the second time I have ever stayed in a hostel...I can say with confidence that I will definately stay here again... $20 a night?! Who could say no! Also close to Elephant and Castle tube station too!!
Cons: I personally dont think it a good idea to have children (both male and female) sharing the same shower and toilet facilities as adults. I would strongly recommend having at least 1 floor dedicated to minors!

Pros: Amenities, room options
Cons: Lots of Screaming young children

Pros: 24h reception Hostel decoration Price Location
Cons: First of all, the lift wasn't working and our room was in the last floor. Second, the guy in the check in didn't asked if we want to rent towels. Third, the light in our room wasn't working. Fourth, the mettress was terrible, too thin and the bedsheets always coming out. Fifth, the dirt underneath the bed was disgusting! There was noose poop sticked on the wall. Sixth, the window started to drop water and wet our clothes. Last one, young girls making to much noise in the night time that we could not sleep.

Pros: Room was actually pretty clean, and restrooms were heavily used, but cleaned regularly. Staff was always very nice and helpful. Room was spartan, but comfortable.
Cons: Very noisy - lots of commotion outside our room. Also, for some reason, they decided to shut the bathroom near us for cleaning every morning from about 7:30 to 8:15 - right when lots of folks were wanting to shower. Finally, I had requested a private room for our family, but they told me that they didn't have any , so I had to pay extra money to get a whole 10 person room. Still a decent rate overall, compared to other places, but not the rate i thought I would pay. Finally, don't count on getting wi-fi any time between 7:00 and 10:30 at night. There are so many people trying to connect that it is pretty much impossible.
7,0 Good
Pros: Very nice staff, easy and quick check in and out.
Cons: Although I totally get that this is a hostel and not a 5 star hotel, me and my boyfriend got quite bad backpain from the beds.

Pros: The room was very simple, but serviceable, especially considering the great rate we paid. The location was excellent, especially for the price, and the neighborhood and hostel felt very safe. The front desk staff was friendly.
Cons: When we arrived, the window was open, and it wouldn’t shut properly. The front desk promised to send someone up soon, but they never did, so we went to bed and then spent the stay with an unlatched window, which made the room cold and noisy. The advertised free WiFi worked great in the lobby...but hardly reached our room, so it was ultimately unusable unless we went downstairs. Likewise, the room was advertised as soundproof. This wasn’t a make-or-break factor for us, but we were still disappointed to hear lots of noise up and down the halls. We had to rent towels (which cost more on Friday night than advertised on Thursday night) but could only get one for the two of us, since they didn’t have enough. The front desk staff was always nice, but whenever we needed something, we had to wait in line for 15-20 minutes. Overall, we were glad our stay was short, even if we appreciated the price and the location of Rest Up.
