Pros: The Ampersand is a lovely hotel, with thoughtful and attractive decor in an excellent location for visiting all the major London tourist spots. Its location in South Kensington is brilliant for the tube, museums, restaurants etc. and the hotel is genuinely child friendly. But what made our stay particularly memorable was the excellent, very helpful and friendly staff. They were all very attentive and made us feel very welcome.

Pros: I arrived exceptionally early, after a very long flight. Check-in was not until 2pm, but the staff very helpfully pulled out all the stops to get me into a room some hours early. They were friendly and thoughtful. The room was very comfortable and clean. Overall, it was excellent service.

Cons: In ordering the English breakfast, my husband was asked if he would like toast and beans with the breakfast. Assuming that it was included with the full breakfast, we were surprised at the additional $3.00 cost per item on our final bill. Not happy.

Cons: I think the lighting in rooms could be improved. Carpet looking a bit tired. Guests above us had very noisy children so perhaps room allocation of families with small children needs to be considered - we did have to call reception several times as it was very annoying having the noise above us.

Reception Sarah was very professional she did her best to make my room ready before 2pm I didn't like the queen room city view at all so i changed for an extra 80£ and got the garden view room, The only thing she didn't mention to me is that the extra price per night was 80£. I found out only at checkout. Room service : had a great moment with Barbara, a great conversation while she came to my room with my order, such a lovely person. Romeo : was amazing and i loved how passionate he was with his job, i promised him to be back to the hotel again and say hi to him. For the pasta i ordered, i didn't like it but the salad was good. The only suggestion and i can make is , more variety of pasta, like penne for exemple. Here they have only spaghetti and tagliatelle. GYM: very nice to be after meetings. They have very coaches but didn't have time to speak to them. Stayed at the gym for about 40 min and left. What makes me come to this hotel even if the price is higher than other 5* hotels in london is the staff, they have the best staff you can find in london, they make you feel home, otherwise its a good hotel. Be ready to see me again.

Reception Sarah was very professional she did her best to make my room ready before 2pm I didn't like the queen room city view at all so i changed for an extra 80£ and got the garden view room, The only thing she didn't mention to me is that the extra price per night was 80£. I found out only at checkout. Room service : had a great moment with Barbara, a great conversation while she came to my room with my order, such a lovely person. Romeo : was amazing and i loved how passionate he was with his job, i promised him to be back to the hotel again and say hi to him. For the pasta i ordered, i didn't like it but the salad was good. The only suggestion and i can make is , more variety of pasta, like penne for exemple. Here they have only spaghetti and tagliatelle. GYM: very nice to be after meetings. They have very coaches but didn't have time to speak to them. Stayed at the gym for about 40 min and left. What makes me come to this hotel even if the price is higher than other 5* hotels in london is the staff, they have the best staff you can find in london, they make you feel home, otherwise its a good hotel. Be ready to see me again.

Breakfast was a bonus in a spacious area with a very broad selection (including full English breakfast) to cater for the many international guests. The location is excellent with shops, supermarket, pubs all very close. Gloucester Road Underground station is across the road which has a direct link to Heathrow. (Does have some steps, though.) The restaurant is good and the bar area which opens onto a private park is exceptional in warm weather. Overall the vibe of this hotel is of a busy but well organised property with a family friendly, welcoming, international home away from home feel!

Cons: The room that l stayed in has the most awkward lay out. The toilet roll fixture was placed at the side of the bathtub exactly where you get in n out. It got splashed by water from the shower, and one can easily slip over its 15cm protruding metal rod for the spare tissue roll. The magnifying glass was only able to face to the toilet area n not to your face. The toilet flusher was behind the toilet cover. So each time you need to flush it, you ll have to first close the cover. The distance between the wall mirror inside the bathroom, to where you stand in front of the basin was so far that one need to bent extra to see your makeup. But this issue may not be for everybody. One who is taller then my 5.4" height maybe able to reach it better. In general... l used to stay at Crown Plaza Singapore. The experience is very different.

Cons: Online check in was a waste of time as re checked in when reached hotel. Early arrival left luggage with concierge but when we got back to hotel late evening bags were still in luggage room. Would have been better if in room.

Pros: The hotel was very close to an Underground station and in an area close to Museums. It was a very pleasant area to walk around in. The staff were friendly and keen to help with any problems. The breakfast choices were excellent.
Cons: It didn’t suit me as a solo traveler in my 60’s. The single room should be called a shoe box room. It didn’t look like the one on their website. It was squishy and stuffy and the traffic noise combined with the air con was annoying. It felt like the perfect place for people on a tour with everything perfectly executed with the best of manners. I did not find it a relaxing stay at all. I was very disappointed with my choice.

Pros: We chose this hotel as it was near to the Royal Albert Hall, and we had bought tickets to a concert for my partner's birthday, which I had mentioned when booking. The hotel is in a perfect location and they kindly upgraded our room and gave my partner a birthday card, such a lovely gesture. The staff are very friendly and helpful; particularly Andrea on reception who was wonderful. We had a great stay and would recommend this hotel.

Cons: An earlier check in would have been better. 3 o clock is quite late . We were going to proms at Hyde park so didn't actually get in room till after midnight and left again at 9.30 the following morning . But, a beautiful hotel and very comfortable.

Cons: Don't buy the breakfast. At nearly £20 each you should expect a certain standard. This was verging on dangerous. Undercooked bacon and sausage. Scrambled eggs were watery and a strange colour. Everything was cold. Literally the worst breakfast I've had in over 35 years of travelling.

Cons: There was no staff to help with luggage. The hotel has steps, and its raining half the time. They told me I should deal with it myself. There is a small luggage lift but no staff helped us use it. Also found the room service charge of 5 pound per order a bit mean. Dont know if that's a london thing.

Cons: Uncomfortable bed~conks in in middle. Lockers too small and not safe. Even if you use a good padlock it's easy to break in because of flimsy mechanism. Only the shower at the window gets hot property. Other showers with the press knob are only hot for a few seconds then warm and lukewarm. Bunk beds do not have enough headroom in your bed~I kept on bumping my head. Duvet too short~either my neck or toes were not covered ~a little short for a tall person

Cons: We booked breakfast for our 8 days stay and the food choices sadly did not change at all. It would have been much better if they change the menu every few days to give some variety for customers - especially those that will stay for more than 4 nights.

Pros: It's location near to the Earl's Court Underground station. Just a few minutes walk from the hotel, you'll find yourself at the station and other convenience shops, cafes and restaurants along street. Our room was clean and comfortable enough for a few nights stay. We particularly love the bedsheets because they were very clean, crisp and nice to sleep on after a long day. Although we've booked for a small double room, somehow we did not feel it was too small because the room has a generous wardrobe space behind the bed. The en-suite shower area is pretty spacious too. Definitely will come back to this place again if we were in London next time round.

Cons: The room was small (despite being described as an "executive" room with more space), we had no telephone, and the "desk" could hardly function as a bedside table (which were completely absent). We never sampled the included breakfast because the line was so long (and/or the space so small) that we could not even see into the room to see what was offered.

Cons: You might like this hotel prices and location but this is a trap.
I stayed in this hotel twice and both times were bad and I documented it with pictures and video.
My first stay the gave me a room in the basement with a view of walking pedestrians feet and the sound of cars tires and the entrance door was the place where they keep their garbage bags.... but that wasn't the real problem... the real problem was the entrance was full of mice! So I complained to the hotel about this and they moved me to another room.
In my second stay, they gave me a room on the 2nd floor without an elevator and I had to carry my suitcases alone though the narrow staircase without any offer to help me with it. and it's important to mention that the is room in a building around the block about half a km (about 1000 feet) from the hotel lobby.
While I was sleeping in the tiny bedroom exhausted from the two floors staircase I woke up from dripping water! the ceiling light was dripping water on me! I since the room doesn't have a phone to call the front desk I had to walk to the down the street to the front desk to tell them to check it out and water with electricity doesn't mix! so I had to wait for about 3 hours then they asked me to go back room to find nothing changed then I called them from my mobile phone so I don't have to walk to them again under the rain. after an hour a maintenance guy who smelled like he had a lot to drink looked at it then told me that they can't fix it.
a few hours after several calls later they told me to gather my important stuff and check-in another hotel to spend that night in it.
the next day they asked me to move to another room in a different building and again it's in the basement.
After all that and on my checkout day I asked to extend my checkout for an hour and they said you have to pay £10 for an extra hour. I told them I had to move from 3 different rooms during my stay with you and you ask me for £10?! the rude hotel receptionist said "if you are not happy with this write a bad review about it, but this is the hotel policy"
