San Francisco hotels near San Francisco City Hall

Pros: The location was great, along with the entrance/lobby was beautiful.

Cons: The room did not represent a 4 star hotel. There was a huge chip (1x2 in the bathroom countertop and another in the bedside table which the drawer did not open by design. All in all. A standard run of the mill hotel room. Parking was $100/night

Pros: Location was great, very central and busy. Easy to walk or Lyft to sightseeing. The front desk was cordial, and of course the actual hotel itself is quite grand. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but the room service food was good, and the bartenders are excellent. The bar is pretty small though, and gets very crowded on weekends.

Cons: We had a few issues with service. A caveat- we stayed over Valentine's Day weekend, so I know they were quite busy. Still, these issues could have been mitigated. Situation #1: Our first night, decided to order a couple of drinks to our room. I decided on a G&T, and my husband on a margarita, both with top-shelf liquor. We called room service and asked for our drinks, naming the types of gin/tequila specifically (reading off of the menu). "We don't have those," we were told. OK... maybe they were out? We tried our second choices (also on the menu- not top shelf, but not well). "We don't have those either." .... We ended up ordering "whatever you do have" and trying not to let it get us down. 2 nights later, I stopped in the bar. Guess what was on the menu and fully stocked behind the bar? Both types of gin I'd tried to order. I suppose they could have gotten a shipment in that weekend, but somehow I doubt it. Situation #2: Our 6-year old kiddo came along for the family weekend, and one night he had an accident in his bed. We'd declined housekeeping that day, but now we desperately needed a change of sheets. My husband called down to housekeeping and explained the situation, and they said they would come up and take care of it. Wonderful! We left the room to do a bit of shopping and dinner. When we came back, the bed was beautifully made. Our son changed into his jammies and got into bed. "Mommy- it's wet." he said. THEY'D TAKEN THE OLD, PEED ON SHEETS AND MADE THE BED BACK UP WITH THEM. I can understand missing a small accident, but our kid had really let loose, and there was a hefty wet spot right in the middle of the bed. To the credit of housekeeping, they sent someone up with new sheets to remake the bed, and that person was great. I'm just a little floored that someone could make a double bed with sheets soaked in urine and not notice.

Pros: directly across the street from Union Square, so it’s perfectly walkable

Cons: Parking was atrocious. It took two hours to actually approach the parking garage bc of a traffic logjam, and we never got to actually park our car safely at the hotel. We had to find a random garage a few blocks away. Best bet is to drop your car off very early, or well after check-in time.

Pros: I was kindly upgraded and warms thanks for that (I was so happy to come back to this hotel I used to go when working at Cisco years ago).

Cons: An issue (promptly fixed) with the shower tap that couldn't be locked. It may happen, no worries.

Pros: It's history and location made it our runaway first choice. It lived up to its 5 star reputation starting with check in.

Cons: It's an old building; you come up steps to get to the front door. A modern building would have a ramp. But, a ramp would ruin the looks. So you put up with a cumber some handling of your luggage.

Pros: The view was good and the service was great.

Cons: I didn’t get a landmark view as said on the discretion, but the view wasn’t so bad.

Pros: The bathroom floor flooded because the seal on door was not sealed. Had a horrible experience with cab who threatened to shoot me with his gun. I was there with one of my attorneys’. Cab driver stepped out of car and was coming to get me. Your doorman was a real hero as he stepped in between us. I spoke with the hotel night manager about the incident.facility, location and staff are nice. I am a writer and a true sixth generation San Franciscan. The City has sadly changed and not for the better. Too much homelessness. I guess the biggest problem I had with my room was the bathroom flooding every time a showers was taken. Pros: Comfortable bed, charming hotel with beautiful holiday decorations, right at Union Square - great location!

Pros: Perfect for walking all around Union Square. Staff very helpful and advising regarding restaurants etc. Breathtaking views of the city from our room on the 25th floor.

Pros: The staff were excellent. Upgraded me when I arrived. The room was a corner room with good views of the Union square area from two angles. Bed was comfortable. The pillows could have been a tad better but I am picky with pillows. I was here visiting friends and the central location was very helpful for doing that.

Cons: When we arrived (as anticipated, it was late in the evening), there were no rooms available. Why didn't they tell us earlier so we could have made other arrangements sooner? We had to stand there while the manager disappeared to find us another hotel.

Cons: The room was odd, it was supposed to be a suite but had a couch in the way of the door, it had a very small bathroom with a shower that didnt drain properly nor did it have very good water pressure. Noisy being next to elevator

Pros: Hotel was on the smaller side, boutique style so it was easy to get to our room. There is a restaurant right at the lobby level called Jaspers with great food and reasonable prices. Staff was friendly, very imformative and ready to help.

Cons: Roms were a little on the small side. No where to put your suitcase to unpack. Tried taking pictures out the window of the view but the windows were quite dirty. Also, location even though it is 2 blocks from Union Square there are many homeless around.

Pros: They have Peloton bikes - THOUGH THEY ARE NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: A lot - - Sadly the Peloton bikes were not working - they were not activated - what a waste! - Rooms are not clean enough - dirty surfaces - mirrors, light plates, windows, bathtub - HVAC was broken - Not much you can do with location but the Tenderloin is less than ideal for 90% of the people out there. It doesn't bother me but a better neighborhood never hurts.

Pros: The staff was really friendly

Cons: The tenderloin district is a difficult place to stay due to the homelessness and mental illness which gives the neighborhood its gritty vibe. Locals dont seem to mind it.

Pros: I really appreciated the free coffee in the morning and the environmental consciousness.

Cons: I wish Jasper's had more varied fish/vegetarian options.

Cons: The restaurant in the lobby is really not up to standards for this hotel! Service was terrible and it looked unkept. -Halloween decorations in the lobby were awful -At 9pm, some rooms were still being cleaned by housekeeping and they were not ready.

Pros: The bed and bathroom were great. Super large TV in the room. The air con had issues but it was repaired by the staff very promptly and very efficiently perfect job. The location is OK à few blocks from good restaurants and supermarkets.

Cons: I have stayed here several times. This is the first time i was assigned 2 double beds instead of a king (preferred) and i found a dirty plastic glass and some garbage under the bureau and beside the night table.

Cons: The other guests on the floor were there in multiple rooms and weee making a lot of noise in the hallways and slamming doors.

Pros: The front desk check-in lady couldn't have been more helpful. I arrived early (before check-in time), and she comped me breakfast in the restaurant, and worked hard to get a room ready for me early. She had a great sense of humor, also!

Pros: I liked the location. The door man was helpful and he suggested he will try to get Alcatraz tour ticket charged 150$ per person.(we were 4 people so 600$ for us). I searched online and fined out it was 39.90$ per person. We almost paid 600$ for that.

Pros: Several blocks from Union square. Convenient to use public transport. Friendly and kind staff. Large room, especially in SF. Free-wifi, in you have Marriot membership. Like other hotels in SF everything is old, but clean and well-managed.

Cons: Bed was too soft for me. Probably due to the memory foam mattress. No refrigerator - mini bar use only. Elevators are quite old. If your room is next to the elevator, you can hear the sound very well.

Pros: The location of the hotel is great. The breakfast amazing. Wonderful staff. Great cocktail bar. SF is generally a cool city to visit.

Pros: I liked the beautiful crisp bed linen, comfy beds, lovely bathroom and fluffy towels and quality toiletries.

Cons: Mix up with breakfast. From the booking.com website it states breakfast was included but then we when arrived at the hotel there was a lot of confusion and mis communication as to whether we were actually entitled to breakfast.

Pros: Very clean, very comfortable, loved the large room! Staff superb.

Cons: The elevators were abnormally tiny, I wanted a cot/rollaway bed and based on the small elevators they said they were not able to bring one. It was fine, we made due however it was a little disappointing as one employee had promised to find one for us.

Cons: I was charged for the internet on both my devices when I very clearly confirmed with the staff if I will need to pay before clicking the connect button and the staff confirmed that there will be no charges. When I saw the bill later in the day after I had checked out there was no direct contact or email that I could write to or contact. I had to pay to my hotel to make two calls to Hotel Adagio to get in contact with someone with whom I could clarify. The gentleman I spoke to said since I am not a mariott member I was charged. Everywhere WiFi is complimentary in today’s era only to find a property like Mariott is charging for internet. Also when guests are confirming before using n get charged? The gentleman said that they would refund that money but I feel it was all unnecessary for me and also the cost I incurred to make calls to clarify this issue
