Structure And hospitality!
This hotel was the baseline of quality I'd expect for a hotel of this level of service, location, and history. The room had a large and very comfortable bed, and large bright windows with a fantastic view of the city. Loved the view and the high floor and the pillows. My sleep quality felt good. The location is great, very close to Union Square, though be warned this area gets many homeless wanderers after 9pm.
I can't tell if the hotel rooms have been renovated recently. The decor is not at all my taste. Everything is black and red and has a weird woman-in-her-60s-sexual-reawakening vibe, down to the toys offered in the hotel dresser. The bathroom lighting was awful and there was no makeup mirror so you had to lean way over the large counter. Everything just felt cringey and poorly done. The lobby was dusty and tired. I waited 10 minutes for baggage claim. We could hear the club on the 21st floor from our room on the 16th floor until late hours of the night. If I were revisiting San Francisco in this area, I'd choose Hotel Emblem a block away instead of this hotel.
It is a older style hotel But very clean staff is very helpful and courteous definitely would stay there again
Everything is good
They should allow bike service after 6 aswell
Location. Very near Chinatown and several eating facilities close. Manager was very helpful. Opportunity for catamaran tour was very nice.
Small rooms, POOR lighting of bathroom, no tubs, condescending and rude staff. The concierge was also not available often, and when he was, was not able to produce opportunities like a top level concierge in a city like New York or Rome. The "amenities" provided which we never used. These included: bicycles, wine bar, in-room yoga mats, use of business center (not centre - we live in the US not Britain), and use of fitness center (not centre again). When questioned about these, the hotel staff seemed shocked that we did not consider them important. Additionally, I found it funny that they thought we should appreciate the 14% room tax (daily) along with the $33.77 destination fee (daily) for both rooms because.....(wait for it) we were in San Francisco. They acted as if our lives should be complete because we had stayed in San Francisco. My family and I have traveled all over the world and San Francisco ranks in the probably the bottom third of destinations.
Sir Francis Drake attracts both business and leisure travelers with its great location close to Union Square and public transportation, including a cable car that runs directly right outside the hotel.
Proud of its historic past and its position as one of the older hotels in the area, the Drake retains its historic character while keeping its design and amenities updated for the modern traveler. The hotel is proud of its design but also prides itself on creating camaraderie among guests through programs such as its free wine hour each evening and its pet-friendly policy.
Located blocks from Union Square, The Drake features views of the Square from many rooms as well as the hotel's nightclub. Sir Francis Drake is well-situated for seeing all of San Francisco's most popular sites including numerous department stores, galleries, and theaters, as well as bars and restaurants. Several public transportation options are also available. For guests who want to stay in for the night, The Drake features its own restaurant and bar.
Housed in a historic building, the rooms are attractive, modern, clean, and up-to-date. There are several room types available in a range of sizes. Suite accommodations allow more space and beautiful views of Nob Hill and/or Union Square. Business travelers appreciate the dedicated work spaces in the rooms, while leisure guests enjoy the in-room spa treatments that are available. Also part of a stay at Sir Francis Drake is free morning coffee and tea, a free wine happy hour every evening, and a pet-friendly policy.
A prime location close to Union Square, Sir Francis Drake Hotel is considered one of the best luxury hotels in the San Francisco area.
