Cons: Construction was very inconvenient will definitely not come back until it's completely remodeled.

Cons: Took too long to check-in

Cons: Mandatory "urban bundle fee" of $20+ per night, even if you don't use or want the services. Housekeeping was bad -- there was a half full highball glass in the hallway outside our room for our entire stay. When we arrived on a December evening the room temperature was set to 54 degrees with cold air blasting in. Overall not a friendly or welcoming environment, unfortunately.

Cons: No complaints

Cons: Since we were there during the renovation, there were no shops, etc. They had shampooed the carpet in the halls the day we arrived and there remained a wet rug smell throughout our stay.

Cons: Food pricing was expensive, 1 electric bike was broken

Cons: No one answered the valet parking phone three days in a row. No room service. A beer glass sat in the hallway for two days without being picked up. Kitschy "hipster" feel.

Cons: Slow service from check in to check out Uncomfortable beds (pillows were worn flat, requested new ones and got two more flat/worn out pillows) Towel was dirty (not stained--it had actual chips of dirt on it) slow wifi Very low quality food

Cons: Confusing layout, couldnt easily located the front desk for check in (temp location due to redecorating.) Also, booked a king, was given a queen with a "better/more expensive view" not cleared with us before. It was too late to change rooms when that was offered.

Cons: Needed spa after some gruelling walks (need to be fit to get around) or simply jump on cable cars outside hotel ;). Although We found city pricy, hotel food offerings were excessive to say the least (no room service either?)Management has to know within walking distance are some great options for meals that are easier on your wallet.

Cons: As with most SF hotels the price is a little steep, but more reasonable than many. The cable cars were a little noisy, but didn't really bother us. Valet was over $50 for 24 hrs, but that's kinda how it goes in SF.

Cons: The room size was a little small for the money, and you could hear everything from the hallway and surrounding rooms.

Cons: Nearly everything. The rest of the staff seemed unimpressed with the hotel themselves and in fact mocked the hotel for intentionally using "false advertising" to lure customers into staying there. Upon arriving we received a "complimentary upgrade," which off the batt seemed wonderful, but once we entered the room we were appalled; we couldn't even imagine what our original room would have looked like. When I called down to complain about the striking difference from the pictures on the website the woman at the front desk replied that what I saw online was called "photoshop." The room was spacious, but empty; there was no headboard, safe or amenities. The hotel offered nothing, but rooms and was not the kind of place you looked forward to returning to at the end of a long day. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never return myself. For a couple hundred dollars more I could have stayed at the nicest hotel in San Francisco. This hardly ranks with the top hotels in the city, despite its high prices and false four star advertising online.

Cons: I had stayed there many years ago when the hotel was a 5 star property and was disappointed to see that it was now a 3 star.

Cons: Somehow, the hotel reservations people decided I should pay for an extra night when I had cancelled that night the previous week. The lady at check in was very helpful and was able to resolve the issue, but I was disappointed I had the issue in the first place. It was not clear to me why this happened. The room was nice - but quite expensive in my opinion.

Cons: The check in was one our delayed and the people in the front desk were not very servicial. Since it’s in the top part of the city, walking with kids or senior people is complicated. Breakfast options are not really option, it forces you to buy the full buffet.

Cons: Urban tax fee is a shady charge that was not explained at check in, The fee is for bike rental and internet, yet the Wi fi was listed as free and you would be insane to ride a bike down the hills. I had to argue to get it removed.

Cons: Totally preference but the beds are too soft and frankly the food is over priced for the quality. It's clear the food has not been under a real chefs direction for a while but these are relatively minor complaints

Cons: Upon checking in, they didn't have our room available until the next day. Not sure how that even happens, but after talking to the manager, he miraculously was able to get our room. I had an allergic reaction to the laundry detergent they use on the bed sheets and my eyes swelled up. I was told that if you have allergies, you need to call in advance to make sure they wash the bedding with hyper-allergenic detergent (they normally use Dawn). For the inconveniences, they did comp me my room service.

Cons: The main building although grand, is a little dated. The refurbished rooms are good, but the particular room I was in the door didn't fully open because the wall gets in the way, so for room service the trolley couldn't be wheeled in, food had to be carried in from the door, and there wasn't really any table to put the food on, only the writing desk or the fold out mini bar. I had to call for slippers

Cons: Poor soundproofing- we could hear everything next door. $65 parking and $14 wifi. "Courtyard view" misrepresents the huge noisy cooling type towers. Breakfast was 1 1/2 hour late. Dinner in the restaurant was loud and only mediocre.

Cons: Quality if product - 5 star hotel was at best 3 stars. Everything was dated / old. Not selecting this hotel again.

Cons: This place would be great, but it need a renovation. It just looks like it hasn't been kept up in some time. Needs some fresh paint and some updates. It's in an area that not much is going on also

Cons: A bit run down in appearance and small old elevators. Poor customer service upon check. We were given a hard sale to sign up for hotel program upon arrival.

Cons: I booked this reservation months in advance for a large group, and still, upon check-in there was alot of miscommunication and confusion about the reservation (how many rooms, names on the reservation, etc). Staff was not warm or particularly helpful at all, there was an obvious lack of hospitably and willingness to help that you receive at most hotels. The hotel itself is average, its very old and outdated inside, the walls are thin so u hear conversations next door, and the rooms are small. There were very limited hours for the restaurant/lounge downstairs, and overall was just someolace you'd go to sleep and thats it. It really was just ok. Many other hotels in the area that offered more for the price. I wouldnt stay there again.

Cons: House keeping kept knocking on door throughout trip despite do not deserve sign. Room of 5-7 very drunk women being loud and disruptive throughout the night. I definitely did not think it was a party hotel when I booked it. Didn’t get much sleep as a result. Not what I was looking for.

Cons: Not a big complaint or huge discomfort, but we like to sleep in a cool room but the thermostat would not let us lower temp below 60 degrees.

Cons: Don't like the weekend charge for "top of the mark" tourist trap.

Cons: Furniture in lobby needs cleaning or reupholstering. Looks dated. Bathroom was small and dark. I was there 5 days and one of the elevators was out of service for 3 of those days.

Cons: Noise level in the rooms. Windows do not block out the noise from the streets so you can hear Grace Cathedral bells and the cable cars which is great but also the loud drunks in the middle of the night as well.

Cons: Dark bathroom, dated room in general...for the money I prefer the Fairmont.

Cons: The breakfast was very poor, and the staff in general didn't provide much help, even one clerk fail to give simple directions.

Cons: Air conditioning was intolerably noisy, but it was too hot to sleep without it.

Cons: The two beds in our room were full size beds (a little short for me) and a bit worn. No air conditioning but the large windows were great.

Cons: bathroom door doesn't fully close dirty corners (behind beds) some staff is great, others are not hot water is not consistent, watch out no parking rooms are old comforters are/feel cheap

Cons: Room was not fully clean. There were pieces of plaster on the carpet. The bed angled up the wrong way - the foot of the bed was higher than the head of the bed, for some reason. There was no A/C in the room, and heat was controlled by a seemingly uncontrollable radiator. The breakfast hour was a joke. There were a couple of stale pastries and black coffee. All other coffee was a 50 to 75 cent upcharge that required you to put change into a coffee maker that had somehow been modified to accept money. When checking out, I asked for a receipt to make sure I didn't get charged any incidentals. The lady at the front desk refused to give me a receipt, and told me to call or email Expedia to obtain it, since I had booked through them. Overall, not a great experience.
