Cons: I did find that breakfast was delicious however it was expensive for what you get. The price we were paying for the hotel should have included some sort of free continental breakfast. My wife and I ate there once for breakfast and we both got eggs, Bacon, home fries, toast and coffee and it was $60 bucks. Far to pricey for that. But it tasted good :)

Cons: The doorman when we arrived was verbally abusive to our cab driver then turned to us as if he was our best friend very strange. We seen him having a stand up argument with another the next day at the front of the hotel. Carpets were getting replaced and workmen laying around chilling outside our room was weird. We were only told about this the night before. We had to walk right round the hotel to get out.

Cons: The windows were really dirty, covered in bird poo. Every time the refrigerator started up I thought someone rang a door bell - it was really loud. I had a coffee machine in the room, but only got sugar and something to stir my coffee on my last day. I bought my own sugar way before that. Soundproofing wasn’t really good - every day I woke up before 8 to someone packing and leaving early. Premium internet is a third of the speed you’d get anywhere for free but here they charge 9.95 per day per device. The connection window says it’s pay once for all your devices, but I had to explicitly ask the staff to remove all duplicate charges. I contacted the property and the staff member I dealt with was super helpful and changed me to the same room as my friends. Cons: They played loud music in the lobby all day & late into the night (until almost 11pm). Tried to take a nap in the afternoon but couldn’t because of it-during the day is one thing but after 10pm is pushing it. There was also other noise throughout the night with people showing up at the hostel and talking loudly at all hours. I don’t know how hard it would be with such a big place but if some quiet hours could be enforced it would make it easier to sleep. Even without these noises, might not have made a difference for me the one night I stayed because my bunk mate tossed and turned, shaking the bed & making other noises throughout the night. Needless to say, I didn’t get any sleep & had a long drive the next day. If I ever stay here again, I’ll probably get a private room.

Cons: The hotel is a old property that has had the useful very surface low cost based redecoration...the restaurant is too small to accommodate everyone in the morning so forget breakfast, coffee machine in the room did not work, sink was blocked and did not drain, room had a connecting door that was old, loose and you could hear everything in the room next door. £280 per night in September....you can easily do a lot better in the same area.

Pros: Did not have the breakfast. Of all the places I have stayed in San Francisco, the Holiday Inn on Van Ness was the best. It was close to Cow Hollow, next to Polk Street and a cable car line into downtown. I also liked the fact that I was close to restaurants on Polk.

Cons: The breakfast room is too small and cannot accommodate all the people staying here. So it’s stressful to find a table and had to wait every morning. Also, 2 mins before end of breakfast the staff removed everything.... if they cannot guarantee a seat for breakfast during the allotted hours, they could be a bit more flexible for the people arriving a little late ... they wouldn’t have had a table if they’d arrived earlier anyway.

Cons: This hostel has literally ZERO soundproofing. It is attached to a band practice space/karaoke space, which I get is part of the draw for some people but there is NO WAY TO SLEEP here. It is like being at a concert-even on the third floor, constantly until almost midnight, and after that even just your neighbor opening and closing a door, or the street noise is so loud that I had to put in noise canceling headphones and take extra sleeping pills. Its all amplified so much. I literally got maybe 3 hours of sleep here each night that I stayed. The bathrooms were never clean, and the staff was less than friendly. There is no elevator and no one offers to help with luggage. I would never stay here again.

Looking at the reviews, I don’t understand the 4 stars standard for some people, when you book a 4 stars hotel you expect something fancy, clean, well decorated, nice lobby... I haven’t seen any of those in the hotel, if it was one star or two stars with 30% of the price, I would have said it’s excellent.

Cons: Hotel is outdated, decoration is a mess. I’ll start with lobby till up the room: Lobby is big, a few couches, some are colorful some are modern but not compatible with each other. Other then the furniture the lobby needs painting, cleaning and renovation. Elevator: slowest elevator I ever saw in a hotel, if you don’t have luggage, you would loose patience and take the stairs. Once in the elevator, you would think it’s the first elevator that we built, walls need paining, buttons need to be changed, the whole elevator needs to be changed. Once in the room, the room floor is carpeted with a dark brown color, awful. The floor is not straight at all, just like the roads in San Francisco, lots of ups and downs, watch out for your coins, you let one falls, you will have to catch it before it rolls till union square. You have a bed lamp with the shape of horse head, nothing to do with the rest of the room decoration, probably they got a bunch of them at a good price, or probably someone likes horses. The room is not at all soundproof, you can hear people in the hallway, doors shutting. When you open the bathroom door, it will automatically hit the room door, which will wake up the people next door. Room has a window with Neighbour’s view, so you will have to close the curtain all the time. You have an iron board, however when you open it, good luck closing it back, irony if you keep it open so room service will close it, you’re wrong, they will keep it open and place it in the middle of the room. You have 2 phones in your room, they both do the same thing, I do not know why there are 2, maybe they come with the horses head lamp. You have a tv in the room, with the cables all visible on the wall. You have 2 bottles outside the fridge, in any hotel what’s outside the mini bar is complimentary, however in this hotel, the 2 small bottles are for 3 dollars each, you can buy the same in the shop next to the hotel for 25 cents each.

Cons: The hotel cafe was closed down. It wasn't clear why and we didn't ask. The flip side was that it gave us a chance to support a nearby coffee shop (Cup o Joe) and a separate restaurant for breakfast (Han's). Both were probably better than what the coffee shop would have been.

When I reported it the desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Other staff gave good recommendations for restaurants and family friendly activities. Pillow was the BEST! When I reported it the desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Other staff gave good recommendations for restaurants and family friendly activities. Pillow was the BEST! Room spacious and had everything needed. Safe location and tonnes to see and do within walking distance.

The parking was not included in the booking, as per the filter I had selected when looking for a hotel, it was an additional $50, there was no on site breakfast even though there were menus in the room. Lots of the switched, bulbs in our room didnt work... and the toilet overlooked the terrace so if there were people smoking they were just looking at you having a wee! TBH I booked this hotel as a treat and dont feel it lived up to my expectations...

Cons: We paid for the Victorian suite, which from the photos show a large bedroom and room with a sofa (alluring that this was a tv room or lounge), shower and bathroom with golden gilt design throughout and with jacuzzi bath! In fact the decor was run down, very dated, there was hole in the wall where there was not door stop on entry, the spare room/lounge was a box room on the side, with a sofa, microwave and a sink??? (Had no real purpose) This really needs knocking through to the bedroom or bathroom as extra space. Jacuzzi bath was in the bedroom (this did work well and enjoyable for 1 use). You could hear floor boards creek upstairs and overall was like staying at someone’s nans house. The hotel was on a ok street pretty central to most things, but within a 1 minute walk you are in a rough area with a big homeless problem (advice is to stay clear of the tenderloin district). Very over priced, I’m not sure if the extra cost came from nob hill. Overall very underwhelming experience

I think that the room should be renovated. Moreover the machine to prepare coffe are kinda outside at the reception room so it means you have to carry a tray in your room :/ Awful.

Pros: Staff are helpful and friendly. Facilities were clean , & I think it’s definitely worth it to pay extra for a private shower in your room. The in room tv has Netflix and Amazon Prime which is awesome. The location is really great, especially if you’re a walker, you can walk to Fisherman’s Wharf in about 35 minutes and see Lombard on the way. Trader Joes and CVS right near by is great too!

Cons: The bar next door is very loud but that can’t be helped. There’s a few people around who must be chain smokers of marijuana as there’s quite a strong smell that comes through the window but other than that it’s fine.

Cons: Staff was very rude! They did not show me the room or the facilities, they didn’t answer my questions and they got almost threatening when I complained about the smell of smoke. The smell of smoke in the room was so strong that it gave me a headache all night (even if I bought a spray). The hotel is above a sports bar and my room was just above it so the noise was super loud. The windows couldn’t lock if you closed them all the way down so to lock them I had to leave them a bit open. I didn’t feel safe leaving my computer in the room.

The smell in the lobby and the corridors (room did not smell at all, very clean) The carpets need to be changed I think as they are impregnated with an awful smell. Someone was smoking in their room with their door open on our floor so could smell it every time you walked out. Dangerous as well. Cleaner does a great job with old facilities.

Pros: The staff were extremely nice and helpful. We came in pretty late and they advised places that we could go and eat that were near by. They held our bags the next day while we explored San Francisco. Our flight didn't leave until 10pm. I would stay here again.

Cons: We had a problem with our booking. Hotel staff/manager did not seem like they wanted to fix issue that they created. We requested a specific room(golden gate view) weeks in advance and they denied our request stating they were out of rooms. After I called multiple times to confirm reservation. Later that night I go to the lobby and Over heard a convo between staff and another guest, saying they were going to upgrade him to another room (golden gate view). really?!?! That's not good customer service at all!

Cons: I think every hotel now days should have a USB charging hub but at the very minimum somewhere convenient to plug in your phone, Ipad and computer. This place only had one visible spare plug which was in the middle of a wall a nowhere near the desk. It also was very lose so that it was hard to get the plug to stay in the wall.
Sadly though, this is more typical everywhere you stay.

Cons: I am very upset with this hotel. We booked this hotel for our mini honeymoon in San Francisco. We booked and were guaranteed a king bed. Upon arrival we were told that we had Queens. I showed them my reservation that clearly stated that we booked a king. The front desk clerks were very rude. They didn't seem to care that our reservation said king. They said they gave our room away. Thanks for ruining our honeymoon.
After a while they offered us free parking which was nice... but it was after I threatened to leave.
The hotel is gross and not like the photos. Our bathroom was filthy and the toilet paper was on the floor.
The bed was actually decent- but NOT A KING.
I will definitely be spreading the word that you should not waste your money on this hotel. Perhaps if they would have showed some sympathy to our situation I'd feel different.

Cons: So many negatives!! The carpets are disgustingly stained, the upholstery on all furniture is tattered and torn. Paint is peeling, mattress sunken in, no smoke detectors, exposed wires sticking out of walls. Its a sad hotel with incredible potential.

Cons: Very dated with poor amenities. Things like plug sockets were hard to find and TV didn't work initially and the air con wasnt great. I felt this was overpriced. For the price paid I would expect a more modern environment or at least better air con and electrics. There is no parking, we had to park in a garage 10 mins away and get an uber.

No issue with bugs but children would need to be watched as they could easily fall out. The noise in the area was terrible all day. At night it got some better but very hard to sleep. Be prepared to be every morning by 5am because the traffic and noise will surely wake you. Asked for a fan from the front desk, the first one was broken and the second one made a terrible sound. Ppl says it’s not bad for the money but I can assure you I have paid less and had better. I understand San Fran is more expensive city but this place was no where near worth the money we paid. If I could have canceled and gotten our money back we would have. Desperately needs updating!
