Breakfast options were limited to extremely expensive buffet. No opportunity to sit down and order from a menu. When travelling with 9 teenagers, this was a huge problem. They were in the hotel to compete in a mock trial invitational and it would have been helpful to have a breakfast option for them to order only what they would actually eat.
This is our usual port of call when going to San Fran. It’s so easy to get to off the freeway, the location to restaurants is great and we just love stopping there. We will certainly be back soon.
The escalator up to reception was out of order in this trip. Not a massive deal as there are plenty of elevators just around the corner.
Walking distance to shopping mall.
Residence from apartment complex close to the hotel have a clear view inside the rooms on the 5th floor that don’t have a city view. For someone like me that loves to have the shades and drapes opened, we caught 2 men looking directly into my suite.
Situation in the city. Being on a corner room with a view
The room I was unfortunate to experience was an outdated, handicap room, which I found extremely odd given I strongly believe these types of rooms should be reserved for those that need it - not an able bodied couple! Interestingly enough, when notified at check-in that we'd be receiving a handicap room, the employee immediately, without prompt, stated that the only way we could switch is if we paid an upgrade fee which I found not only to be rudely unaccommodating, but also quite uncomfortable as I felt as if I was being sold a used car and being coerced into spending more money either pragmatically by the hotel and/or for an individual to reach their sales quota. Either way, back to my earlier point, clearly there were more rooms available and I do not think a handicap room should have been given to two able bodied individuals! Onto the creepy-at-best aesthetic of the room - it was old and downright depressing inside (certainly not a place you'd want to stay with a significant other with the "death of a salesmen" esc vibe of the room). Although the bathrooms were decently clean, they were an on par representation of the rest of the room, so much so, my girlfriend didn't even want to take a shower because of the look and feel of it! Having worked in the commercial real estate industry for the better part of a decade, I have financed dozens of Hotels and this is not what I expected at all from a Hilton brand in this market and at that nightly rate. Unfortunately, I cannot in good faith recommend anyone to stay here. Part of me hopes this is isolated to the handicap rooms, however, the other part of me feels that if it is, that is even worse than the alternative that the Hotel rooms are just in much need of a PIP (franchise required upgrade). I welcome a conversation with the manager, if he or she (or Ze) are interested.
