Cons: I can't really say there was anything I didn't like about the hotel. I did a lot of research on hotels in toronto, and this was the highest rated and for good reason. If you're on the fence, go with Shangri-La

Pros: We inadvertently left somethings in the car that was valet parked. Our bellhop brought our bags up and immediately helped us with our situation. In a few minutes our other items were up in our room. It was so effortless. I also loved how well staffed if was and how ready they were to help us with anything.

Pros: We stayed to celebrate my husbands birthday and brought our 2 year old, and the hotel concierge and butler service were beyond accommodating! Although it’s a pricey stay, the service made it well worth it!

Pros: Staff was super friendly and helpful. In suite laundry was major bonus to wash and dry running gear before packing into suitcase. Room comfortable, well appointed. Historical building was neat, lobby nice, convenient location downtown. Valet parking was expensive but necessary as there appeared nothing convenient around. Well suited to transit and walking. Views were fantastic from 36th floor suite, and gym was great, with super views, on 17th floor. Sandwich/pastry shop off lobby was good, Starbucks immediately across street.
Cons: No in suite breakfast option, so either be prepared (and make use of in suite kitchen), hit restaurant downstairs (which seemed expensive), or plan for pastry or coffee shop mere steps away.

Pros: Thanks to Collin at the front desk, my stay was perfect! He not only upgraded my room, but he ensured me he'd personally handle my concerns and he did just that. The hotel is central to everything downtown and you can walk everywhere.

Cons: I got a bunch of random charges for 'custom package' and 'upgrade' charge and didnt even get the room i had requested and paid for! It ruined my stay because it felt like a waste of my money. I ended up going down to have them removed, upon check out I had to request the removal of the fees a second time

Pros: Amazing staff, decadent surroundings, great views, incredibly comfortable beds and accommodations, Union station is across the street for transportation and the hotel itself is like visiting a landmark - it's beautiful. The price is high, but it's for all of those reasons.
Cons: Thin walls. A lot of the comfort and decadence was dampened by some people who decided to have a "get together" around 11 PM next door that continued until about 2:30 AM. When it was down to 2 people you might guess what the next hour sounded like. Needless to say I did not sleep. I had to check out for an early flight around 4 AM, so I didn't bother kicking up a stink with management. I will next time though. I would stay again, but will request a room not joined if possible. Other than the inconsiderate neighbours, I loved the hotel.

Pros: We were upgraded from 1 room - 2 queens size beds to a renovated 2 bedroom suite upon arrival! It was a special BD celebration so it couldn't have been a nicer surprise. The suite was gorgeous, with 2 king size beds, each room with separate luxurious ensuites, full living room, dining room and kitchen. The only problem was, we didn't want to leave to explore the city. The staff was exceptional. I'd come back in a minute and I'm in Toronto every day.

Pros: The woman, Madeline, who checked me in and out was exceptional and is the example for all of the other associates there. She made sure at check-in that I was comfortable, she asked about my flight in, and made sure that I had a map and was situated well to use the PATH and other means to get around Toronto. The hotel was clean and modernized and room service was excellent. The room service associates were exceedingly polite and friendly.
Cons: I arrived early Sunday and was in conference all day and jetlagged. I couldn't wait to put in a long rest since I wasn't in conference that morning. I put out the "Do Not Disturb" and latched the door. At about 9:00 am Monday morning housekeeping opened the door. When I got up to see what was going on I told her no services at this time. She said she was having problems with the door because the RFID was flashing yellow (which was explained to me the yellow light meant that the latch was on. She persisted until I let her in. She cleaned the bathroom and left, but my day was just going to have to start I guess. As I saw her throughout my stay she was not the most polite. Very terse "Hello"s, if at all.

Pros: The location was phenomenal, within walking distance of so much -- only a 10-15 walk from Air Canada Centre, a couple minutes from the Rogers Centre/aquarium/CN Tower, and just a short subway ride from the ROM and Casa Loma, etc. The restaurant behind the hotel (Amsterdam Brewhouse) was absolutely fantastic as well. The rooms were so clean and big and comfortable. It was perfect for a weekend getaway. On top of it, the staff was so friendly and helpful, making for an even better stay.
Cons: The only thing I really didn't like was the fact that parking wasn't free for hotel guests (it was $21/day), but I know that it's a hotel in the downtown area of a large city, so they can't really control that/you should expect to pay for parking.

Nor did the shower have a full closing door- only half the shower was covered.

Cons: This is definitely not a luxury hotel. Things look nice but the hotel is old with a new coat of paint. You can tell where the renovations were done on a budget so things looked nice, but were not actually done well. In addition, the walls were paper thin. We could hear the people in the next room having a conversation. We did get the hotel for a very good rate, but there is absolutely no way the rooms are worth normal price. The hotel itself is not bad, but it is by no means 'luxury.'

Pros: The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious, relaxing and the harbour view was just relaxing we actually ended up staying an extra night. Large shower, lots of towels. They brought in a microwave on request. Location is walking distance (even with a little one) to CN Tower and major central Toronto attractions. It's convenient that you have the parking even after checkout - until 6pm of your departure date. We came in March but I would consider it again in.summer to use the pool and patio.

Pros: We were in town for a concert and a Jay's game, the location was perfect. We love to be near the waterfront when in Toronto and this was our favorite location so far. The hotel is smaller in size which is nice, not too busy, it's clean and the staff was great. The pool area on the 5th floor is a great location to sit at night and enjoy a cocktail while people watching. We have no complaints about this hotel.

Pros: Loved the full wall of windows with shutters on them in the bedroom and windows/skylights in the bathroom. Made the room so wonderfully bright in the mornings. Modern updates gave the room a high-end look and feel. Very beautiful. Very comfortable.
Cons: We experienced four minor annoyances. Firstly, the fireplace (which came with a remote - pretty cool) made squeaking noises when it was on. Secondly, the mattress was overdue for a change - my side had a significant body indentation in it. Thirdly, the lower spigot in the shower was not attached to the wall - it stuck out about a foot or so into the shower. Lastly, the old tub is still in the bathroom but really just takes up space (it's a short tub, so no spa-like soaking). None were huge issues, just minor details that should be addressed.

Pros: My room was large, beautiful, and clean. The hallways were a bit difficult to navigate and I got lost a couple of times until I got a acclimated to it. I went around in circles before I could find the elevator! The hotel is very special because it sits directly next to Rogers stadium, which is the home of the Toronto Blue Jays, & I understand that there is soccer there too. If you sit in the hotel's restaurant, you can look directly into the stadium, and it's a great deal of fun. However, I understand that there are some rooms that also look directly into the stadium but which do not have windows to the outside, so these rooms would make a sports fan very happy but perhaps others might be disappointed. Be sure to ask for a room that has a window to the outside if you don't want to face the stadium.
Cons: The concierge was very nice, and attempted to be very helpful. However, she did not give clear enough instructions on how to get around the city. Taking a cab was a big suggestion of hers, & I really wanted to learn how to use public transit. Perhaps part of the problem, however, is that Toronto's subway system has not grown as the city has grown. It is not that widespread or complex, and in order to reach many places, there's a great deal of transferring necessary between train and street car. So this is difficult for a tourist to learn quickly.

Cons: The hotel was being renovated, so there was no convenient access to a pool or fitness centre (you would have to go to the Delta hotel a couple of blocks away for that); the ice machine/vending machine room on my floor was locked with no sign or note explaining the reason or where to go for an open ice/vending machine room -- maybe those are also being renovated. My particular room seemed to be in need of renovations as well (like caulking the bathtub). After the renovations are completed things should be OK, but I was really disappointed as I had no heads up about these issues and would have booked a different hotel if I had known about them.

I told the front desk and they said it was not legal, like people don't bypass the smoke detectors.. who is monitoring and fining people for this?? The noise level was too high, I had to call the front desk 3 times during my stay (once at 1am) to get the people in the next room to turn their music down. Someone also put their key in the lock of the adjoining room door and was clicking it for 10 mins at 6 am and woke me up the next morning, I was pretty scared. The guests in this so-called higher end property are ridiculous and the hotel staff don't really care that much even after you complain. I will not be a guest at this hotel again.

Pros: I contacted the hotel to confirm our reservation as we had booked it online a month ago and was forwarded to reservations and the lady was not helpful at all and told me the booking was for two double beds even though my statement from Kayak said 1 King bed. She was rude and didn't want to assist and instead told me she can put in a written request with the front desk for a King room but we will only get it if there is one available. She said someone would get back to me to confirm and no one did so I called the hotel again and again they put me through to reservations and I spoke to someone else who was not helpful either. The third time, I called the hotel and asked to speak to the front desk and spoke with Leonard and explained the situation and the confusion on why we were being told we could not have a king room when this is what we booked. He went above and beyond and not only did he make sure we had a king bed, it was on the 35th floor and lakefront room. It was beautiful and we had a wonderful anniversary. Thank you Leonard.

After dealing with the reservation staff, it put me off and made me want to cancel my reservation as I was unsure if this was a reflection of what the service would be at the hotel. Pros: The number one selling point for this hotel, is that it is located right in downtown Toronto on Yonge street and is one block away from the line 1 College subway station, which is also a stop on the 506 Carlton streetcar line. There are also an unlimited number of reasonably priced places to eat and shop within walking distance of the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful

Don't actually spend too much time there, but its nice to have the bar/coffee next to the lobby and though I didn't eat at it this time, the breakfast buffet was good in the past. My friend came to pick me up and was able to leave the car out front while she came up to get me instead of having to try and find parking.

Pros: When we checked in the front desk inquired about our stay, and I said I was treating my husband because it was his birthday weekend. We arrived early and dropped off our bags. When we got to our room in the afternoon, the hotel generously had a large chocolate cake with Happy Birthday on the plate, waiting in our room for him. Lovely! Buffet breakfast the next morning was amazing as well!! We we placed in a very quiet room at the end of the hall with an amazing view of the CN tower.
Cons: Hotel curtains didn't close completely and we faced east, so early morning sky coming in. They need to fix the water damage in the bathroom. But that is being picky- great stay.
Located in Downtown Toronto, this hotel is steps away from The Path and PATH Underground Shopping Mall. Nathan Phillips Square and Toronto City Hall are also within 5 minutes. Dundas St West at Chestnut St Stop is only a 2-minute walk and Dundas St West at Bay St Stop is 3 minutes.

Pros: The swimming pool is big for a downtown hotel and the breakfast buffet is worth the pricetag. The location is very central and Double Tree has made great efforts to save this older building.
Cons: The elevators are slow and unreliable and don't have a way to see what floor they are on while you wait. The breakfast buffet is good but repetitive. It would be nice to see a greater food variety over the days and they need Maple syrup and sugar-free syrup options.

Pros: The hotel staff were very friendly, especially at 2 AM on Friday, as our flight was cancelled and we had a round-about journey to Toronto from Phily. Breakfast was very good, and wait-staff for it and the dinner on Sat. were cordial and welcoming. We were made to feel welcome, even though our soccer team was playing Toronto for the MLS Cup.

Pros: I came to the hotel because I was leaving my boyfriend and had a day before I could go back to America. I figured I'd splurge on myself and enjoy a soft comfty bed. Overall things were lovely and I enjoyed my stay.
Cons: I wasn't told about the deposit that would be taken from my card or the fact I would not get it back. Also being told utensils cost 4$ and there were no napkins or paper towels in the suite, my only issue

Cons: The vibe of the place is off because it is dark and the rooms are so, so small. The pictures of the room on this site are nice, but in all actuality, the rooms were too small for comfort. We didn’t even stay at this hotel for longer than an hour because the room wasn’t comfortable. There were windows, but facing inward and dark.

Cons: Staff were not friendly. They were not accomodating. I realize the weekend my boyfriend and I stayed was a busy one. However, after checking in multiple times about checking in early, we were treated like we were asking too much. Our room was two single beds that my boyfriend did not fit on. When asked to change rooms the front desk announced this would be too difficult. This may be the case however, I was not impressed and would not stay here again. We made a weekend away the best we could and we did have a great time. The strathcona hotel was just a minor set back in our getaway.

Cons: Walls are paper thin. You hear everything. They charge WiFi per device, not per room. Rooms are very small. No Windows to see out into the city. Have to park at least a block away. Bed and pillows very uncomfortable.

Pros: The location was very convenient and it was easy to get to any part of downtown. It was also pretty easy to use public transportation to get there from the airport which was my concern. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within a couple of blocks of the hotel. Another nice perk was a movie theater a couple of buildings over which was great. The staff was really pleasant and accommodating. The cleaning crew was amiable and checked in about when the room would be cleaned. I really appreciated not feeling rushed to get so the room could be cleaned. I would definitely like to stay there again.

Cons: I chose this hotel for the fitness centre but it was closed down for renovations and I was unable to workout, I was offered ryerse. University facilities but I'd have to bundle up walk a short distance outside and the weather was less then favorable and time was an issue

Cons: The rooms were large oh, but they were pretty much apartments that were turned into hotel. The furniture and floors was scratched, the bathroom was very basic and not very clean. The only benefit was there was a kitchenette and it was big in size.
