Myeongdong area is the best for first timers to stay in. Find a hotel near a subway entrance Big luggage is a hassle if traveling by subway as they usually have stairs only for exits and finding a exit with an elevator is a hassle. Food places are plentiful in Korea so no worries about that.

Myeongdong or just some streets around it is a must especially if it is your 1st time travelling there. Realize that only shampoo and body wash is provided. Hotels really limit cleaning your rooms daily. They do change towels though no problem Bottled water is not provided rather a water station is provided on each floor Rooms are small but cleaner compared to ones in Europe and in newer facilities

Hongdae and dongmyo area was quite convenient to travel around Seoul. Be prepared to climb alot of stairs if you are taking the subway.
