Cons: The whole experience was terrible. It doesn't deserve its star rating. The rooms were shocking with a flood in the bathroom every morning as the shower was drainless! The decor was done in cheap plastic like a motel. The food was sub standard.

We also had a birthday during our accommodation, and the staff left a treat in our room as well as a kind note. We also arrived early from the airport and our room was ready. Additionally, they offered complimentary welcome drinks. Very lovely boutique hotel with pool/spa in the basement, as well as small fitness room. Would recommended this hotel many times over!

We had trouble booking online and instead booked via phone directly with the hotel. Therefore they refused to give us the Prado tickets because it was a web only promotion. They refused to refund any portion of the sub-par, over priced meal. Left an awful taste in our mouth regarding the whole stay.

It is clean, the cleaning ladies are coming a few time during the day to make sure everything is clean and if you need something. The bad was the most comfortable bad I ever had. And with the pillows you feel like you are sleeping in a cloud. I found my perfect hotel in Madrid, and will be back soon!

Cons: My high evaluation of value for money of this hotel is based on the special offer we booked (80 euros a night with breakfast included). However, when we asked about the price for our next stay in september, we were told the same room would cost 160 euros, which is too much for the amenities you get. In my opinion, this is a good 3stars hotel, but no more than that.

Cons: Our room had electrical failures. The phone didn't work. The air conditioning didn't work well. It is controlled from a master room and not inside the room itself. It was not a bad experience but this is not even close to a five star hotel.

If all hotels used this one as an example of how to deal with customers from the point you enter it, travelling would be a lot more pleasant. It is the little things that they do so well and always cheerfully, they respond, they are good at what they do from the restaurant to the bar to reception and the doorman and porter. I dont know how they do it, but they need to keep the secret and keep it going!!

Pros: Exquisite and stylish are the two words that conclude the hotel design. From the elegant entrance, tastefully furnished guest rooms, to the delightfully designed rooftop terrace, every corner of this hotel has been well thought out to create the best guest experience. The service was spotless, staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Upon arrival, we had issues finding the carpark and the concierge attended to us immediately. During our stay, I wanted to borrow the microwave to reheat some food, the staff not only helpfully agreed (this somewhat odd request!) but also brought it up in a gorgeous silver tray! Breakfast selection was excellent with both a choice of hot dish and a buffet that counted iberico ham among the selection! The serving staff made an effort to remember our coffee choice in the morning, which made us feel immensely at home. The location was perfect, right at the end of Gran Via, so it was quiet but central, with a view of the beautiful historical building of Sepblac. The key shopping areas and museums were only 10-15 walk away. The trendy restaurants of Chueca, as well as the Mercado de San Anton that was buzzing with locals in the evening, were also just a short walk from the back of the hotel. The room that we had was comfortable and compact. Given the hotel’s central location we were realistic about the average room size, but we were positively surprised by they made it all work within the space given, and how much they have modernised the interior while retaining the integrity of this historical building. There’s a cute little balcony where we could step out and bath in the early morning sun. The rooftop features two sections – one end offers a panoramic view of the city which is best viewed during sunset (we absolutely adored it!), the other end has a hidden bar featuring a leafy wall lined with chaise lounge where guests could bake in the sun at their leisure, or opt for a drink. There’s even an outdoor shower there!

Cons: When we arrived to the Hotel, there was a couple of women’s in the street, in front of main entrance, who told us they wanted to read our hands (like for good luck or destiny) we told them no thanks but they insisted and took 20 dlls from us, literally they took the money, we felt robbed. They shouldn’t treat visitors like that.

Cons: This hotel doesn’t seem like a five star to me, definitely a solid four. There was a luke-warm reception when arriving, no one was at the door and there was no one to assist with bags or show us the room. Overall it wasn’t a very welcoming experience. There was a similar experience when trying to check out. The main receptionist at the desk was dealing with another guest however there was another receptionist (or staff member) at a different desk busy on her computer and ignoring me. I just placed my room keys on the desk and left as I couldn’t wait too long. There is also no valet parking, something which is usually quite common for five star properties (certainly is the case for the Villa Real which I’ve stayed at). I parked at the NH car park down the road and tried querying with staff whether there were any discounts due to us staying at an NH hotel. This was something which was never answered.

Cons: The rooms were extremely claustrophobic. It was very difficult to sleep here. Wall as are very thin. You can clearly here the conversation of other guests in their rooms and in the hallways. Complained several times- nothing done.

This hotel is marketed as 5-star but far from it, most should be 4-star base on exiting facilities. Interaction with hotel staff varies from great to less than great depending on the person on duty. I find the night shift far more helpful, pleased and accommodating.

Pros: The breakfast is FABULOUS, worthy of a five star hotel. The personnel at breakfast are very lively and welcoming. The location is great: you can walk to almost everything - museums like the not to miss El Prado are just a 6-7 minutes walk, El Retiro park is also close by, the beautiful plaza major is like a 20 minutes walk, 5 more minutes and your at the royal palace and al Mudena cathedral. Also Atocha train and metro station is just 5 easy minutes away. Plus, right in front of the hotel, I mean just at the door: taxi stops, several bus stops.. We stayed on 2 separate days and, in between, traveled by train to Lisbon: they very kindly kept our heavy luggage for 4 days until we came back, which allowed us to travel light. We are very thankful for that. Rooms are comfy and well furnished.

Cons: One thing I didn't like on our second stay, the room wasn't very clean and the kettle had coffee remains. When I informed the person in charge, the reply was that it was actually stained and needed extra cleaning time... Pros: I loved Gran Versalles Hotel. It is a very comfortable and excellently located place to stay in Madrid. I will definitely come back soon. Breakfast is also very good and a good value. The hotel is right next to Plaza Santa Barbara and near the lovely central Madrid like the Gran Via and Plaza del Sol.

Their friendliness and attention to detail was second to none. Each staff member went the extra mile to ensure my stay at their hotel was outstanding. The room was a perfect size with stunning views of Madrid. The morning breakfast had a huge selection of hot and cold foods, perfect to set you up for the rest of the day. As the adgit goes, it about location, location, location - and this Hotel is right bang smack in the middle of Madrid's tourist, restaurant and shopping areas.

Pros: The location is fantastic, but since I already know Madrid I knew this going it. It's about a block and a half from the Plaza Espana metro and it's very accessible to pretty much everything. I also liked that they had a free mini bar though there were just a couple of Pepsi's, bottles of waters, a couple of juice boxes, and an alcohol free beer. It was still a nice bonus. Another surprise was how big the bathroom was, nearly as big as the bedroom and there is a remote control for the bed that elivates it. The room was also really clean.

Cons: I was disappointed actually, despite of all the things I said prior. It's listed as a 4 star hotel so I had high expectations and it didn't meet them. The room was an interior room so there was no view, fair enough though, I guess they can't all be. There was only shampoo/ body gel in the shower, I'd fully expected if not tiny bottles of each, then dispensers for all three. Also the decor was quite outdated looking, not old fashioned in a tasteful way, but outdated. Like it was still stuck in the 80's. One other point, I was really excited about the spa, but that was the most disappointing part. No seperate changing rooms, 1/2 the jets didn't work and the jacuzzi was tepid, also the sauna was broken.

The nightshift guy who checked me in was really nice but theres one lady that was sitting on the couch i think shes a staff of owner or whatever i dont know and she gave me the dirtiest look and dont smile at all like i was not welcome. Lady, im a customer and i paid i dont know why is it so hard to give a bit of a smile, i owned a hostel back in Kuala Lumpur and i know how to treat my customers very well and i will make sure my staffs will do the same. This lady, she failed to do so. The rest of the staffs are super nice include the housekeeper lady in the morning. Thank you everybody, definitely recommended and will come back

Cons: The room Air conditioning was almost non existent. It was very warm in Madrid when we stayed. I need to be under the covers when I sleep. The pillows were the worst I have ever encountered! They were long and thin so they offered no head support. If you folded them in half it was worse because it became very firm and uncomfortable like sleeping on a bath towel that was rolled up and then folded in half. I need absolute darkness to sleep. The light illuminating from the TV literally lit the room up. It wasn't until our last night that I figured to cover the TV with blankets. The walls and ceilings seem thin because I heard banging and conversations going on in other rooms, both above and on the side of me. You could even hear the people across the hall. The complimentary breakfast buffet also was not worth even going to. Everything was not only substandard and cheap, but while we were there the hotel was at capacity, so the buffet area was extremely loud, and everyone was grabbing food as fast as they could. We ate breakfast outside each day after that. Bottom line...Spend a few extra bucks for a more comfortable hotel, with a better breakfast!
