Pros: Staff is friendly, fantastic service. Rooms were clean and for the reason of my stay it was fine. It had everything I expected. Location is very good specially for walking. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family.

Pros: The newly renovated rooms are every nice. When we first checked in though, we were given a room on the ground floor, right next to the office with two single beds. This room was quite crappy and old, and there was renovations going on directly outside the window. We asked for a room with one bed, and were given a much nicer room higher up and on the back side of the hotel.
Cons: The older rooms are quite crappy, and I would not have stayed in that. Also, being winter, the A/C is turned off. But, it's hard to open the window, so our room was quite hot. An there was no working fan.

Pros: My boyfriend and I stayed here with extended family for a week. Great location, everyone that worked there was really nice/helpful and the rooms were great. So happy to have stayed here during our European adventure!

Pros: Discovered bedbugs before going to sleep. Had to pack up my belongings in the middle of the night and move hotels. Staff had said they were going to pass along my contact information to the manager. Days later and I've heard from nobody.

Cons: They advertised a gym with a sauna, and both days I was there they were both out of order. I managed to convince the staff to let me use the gym and they did try to fix the sauna to their credit.

Pros: The hotel is walking distance from parque el buen retiro, and has metro stops for two different lines and the airport shuttle within two blocks. The rooms are ample and clean, but my favorite feature of hotel was a handheld city guide (converted Google phone) that was programmed with suggestions for activities, and info about tourist attractions in city. I live in the USA so my phone would have been roaming and expensive to use. The city guide allowed me to navigate the city, and look up information as I walked around. It was extremely helpful.
Cons: The hotel has closed it's entrance that accesses the sidewalk directly and I had to walk in and out of hotel through car tunnel, which felt a bit dicey as the sidewalk in the tunnel is very narrow.

Cons: Convencion Hotel is not more than a old style business hotel but......if an Hotel is made up especially for business .....how come WIFI SUCKS SO MUCH!??? They told me that for a "premium" connection I would need to pay 4 Euro a day. I did and my connection "upgraded" to 3mb/s.....are you f..ing killing me??? Leave this hotel for few more year until they will understand what is a "business" Hotel...Forgot about the garage....it is a mouse trap not a garage! Leave this Hotel for few more years until they will understand what does it mean being a Business Hotel. There are other Hotel around (Regina) at half a price and double value that this!!

Pros: Individual members of staff were lovelies. The pool boy, bar staff and the night reception staff. It close to the shops and has good access to pretty much everywhere. On the surface it is very beautiful.
Cons: Shower dripped constantly. The ac worked sometimes. Arrived with a child and 4 pieces of luggage not one person greeted or helped us down the steps into the foyer although there were at least 6 bell boys standing there. They seem to assume their customer want to steal from them. It's very strange. The pool is tiny and sunbeds are scarce. Apart from the one you can pay 100 euros to have all day. On the last day we decovered an infestation of red ants. Generally spent as little time in the hotel as possible.

Pros: - Amazing Breakfast with variety of fresh juices (my booking was not included with breakfast, but 9 Euro is not at all expensive for such a fabulous breakfast. and for child it was free. - kids play area in the lobby - my eight year old daughter enjoyed there a lot, and I have seen several kids happily playing (I seldom see such arrangement anywhere else) - excellent design make a luxury feeling - Bed and pillow was so comfortable and soft (one of the main component I looked when booking) - so met the expectation - enough space inside the room (though not a lot) - helping and smiling staff
Cons: - Though toilet was neat and beautiful, shower area was not properly covered which made the shower water brings out of the designated place and made the entire toilet wet (they could make the proper coverage for the shower area) - waste bin in the toilet was damaged and had to use hand to open it ( it could be in my room only, unfortunately) - main door was not properly closing (could be my room issue only, unfortunately) - Location wasn't great as its far from city center - if you wish to walk daily to the centre or attraction this is not the place. you will have to rely taxi or metro. But if you go to airport, then you save a lot of time (though money is same from wherever you go to airport) as its end of the city.

Pros: We like the location and the staff.
Cons: I was shocked that my 2 hardboiled eggs and yogurt (in room breakfast) was $30. My husband got fruit and Muesli and it was an additional $30. $60 for a small breakfast!!! Apparently if you order anything they charge you for a full buffet. Had I know that, I would have just gone downstairs to the buffet. The laundry service was also ridiculously priced. My husband washed 4 pairs of boxers and three pairs of socks and it was $60. Shame on us for not planning better, but shame on them for price gouging.

Pros: The rooms were beautifully decorated. Each floor has an invidual motif. The staff at check in were courteous and efficient. I enjoyed the experience of choosing the style of room on an iPad.
Cons: While waiting for staff to fix my door (keycard would not work), I decided to wait at the main bar on the top of the hotel. one side was marked for a private party, one wasn't. I went to the unmarked side, ordered a drink, and as I was about to pay, the bartender asked if I was part of the event. I told him no and he said that he couldn't serve me and took the drink away. I informed him that I was a guest of the hotel and that this area was not marked as reserved. His manager apologized but asked me to leave. This added insult to injury of being locked out of my room. Were it not for an early flight and the hotel's free shuttle, I would have checked out that instant. Furthermore, the hotel is poorly located in the middle of a boring residential neighborhood. It may be a good value for anyone about to travel but the device and amenities do not merit 5 stars.

Pros: Hotel is located 2mins from Madrid metro, as well as supermarkets and authentic local tapas bars and restaurants. Attraction of staying here, eventhough your a short complimentary hotel bus ride from the touristy centre, is the hotel's interior which has been designed by a number of world famous architects and designers - Foster, Hadid, amongst others. This is matched by the 5-star service of the hotel.

Pros: Front desk staff was very responsive. Hotel architecture, floors, rooms, etc are amazing. Never saw anything like them!
Cons: The restaurant staff was terrible. We were two businessmen dressed in suits. We entered the restaurant at 9:15 pm; It was not busy but had a number of tables with patrons. We walked out at 9:40, having gotten not so much as a glass of water, or even a nod in our direction, let alone an "Ill be right with you." Instead the 3-4 waiters and the captain never even made eye contact with us. So we went to the desk and got a recommendation to a very good restaurant right down the street.

Cons: Granted things get booked out in madrid on Saturday night - price paid for standard room of 161 euros was serious ripoff. Hotel not much different than IBIS. Took 20 min to find my booking and do check in. Check in process appallingly slow - there was a group ahead of me in the lobby and all on it more than an hour to get to the room (the group was not a last minute booking as was planned and booked in advance - so utterly invompetent team at check in). Hotel was ok but really no different than IBIS in term of room size, comfort, probably even poorer in terms of location. Has a pool but weather was no good - this could be the only difference. Breakfast was ok

Cons: The room was extremely hot. There was no option to reduce the temperature of the room. A member of the staff offered to change our room to a smaller one that was less warm. We strongly recommend having a thermostat in each room that allows reducing the temperature when it's substantially higher than the one outside.
