Pros: As other people have said, it is the staff at this hotel that were really great and I have told people about it that I would not normally tell or make comment to. If all hotels used this one as an example of how to deal with customers from the point you enter it, travelling would be a lot more pleasant. It is the little things that they do so well and always cheerfully, they respond, they are good at what they do from the restaurant to the bar to reception and the doorman and porter. I dont know how they do it, but they need to keep the secret and keep it going!!

Pros: The hotel is very attractive, sleek and modern. The best feature is the location, just a short walk to Puerta Del Sol and tons of restaurants/tapas bars, and a pleasant walk to the Prado or the Palace Real. The desk staff were very helpful in identifying nearby restaurants and answering questions about Madrid. The bathroom amenities were outstanding, nice big towels and a great shower. Black out curtains and free internet were a big plus.

Cons: Urban is very attractive and the rooms spacious by European standards, but ours on Floor 1 was very noisy. Not sure about the upper floors, but we heard everyone in the hallway, all the early morning preparations and the popular bar at night. The beds may be to European tastes, but far too firm for us - just a mattress on a platform. The breakfast was inappropriately expensive (a smaller, more affordable option - coffee, juice and croissants, perhaps?). We also missed being able to utilize some of the common spaces, esp. the roof terrace, due to many private functions. The desk staff were great but others seemed more interested in chic than service. This hotel is best suited for (much) younger people and business travelers.

The staff was very nice and even though language was an issue (we don't speak Spanish) they tried their best to assist us. Free internet throughout the hotel. Cons: The restaurant/bar area were badly run. The staff were not well trained and the services were chaotic, especially at breakfast. We also tried to eat an evening meal there as well, and waited an hour for a course. Then the food arrived barely cooked. Other guests made formal complaints to management but it didn't improve. The rest of the hotel was very good.

Cons: The staff charged for breakfast when we didn't even attended the breakfast neither we called for breakfast in the room.When I challenged it they took off the charges. My family checked out of one room a day before and they were charged extra too. They were running late for the airport so they paid without checking exactly. But next day when I checked out and asked them to produce the evidence of me or my husband in the breakfast room or the call recording of the phone if we called for breakfast in the room. All of a sudden the staff took off all the charges. This makes me think that my family has been charged extra too as they didn't check

The room was a great layout with a sitting area downstairs from the beds. Restaurant/Bar were excellent. Hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival. They have a free computer if you need the internet. They also provide a CD player in the room. Wish I purchased the CD of Spanish music. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel gives upscale/rustic/cosy feeling all together. Front desk personnel,porters, and door men were all nice. Location is great for sigtseeing and dining. A bar next to hotel was nice to visit for small drink or tea at late night too.

Pros: The friendliness of personel, the central location (right at Plaza Mayor), the laptop and ADSL connection in the room (included in the price), the cleanliness of room, the very fast and effective air conditioning, very nice shower, free of charge mineral water in the room.
Cons: One more chair in the double room (if you use the only one to sit in front of the laptop, there is no other left). Free of charge mineral water is very nice, but mini-bar has to be full with other stuff as well (alkohol drinks, sweets, etc). A little more lighting on the front of the building should be a good idea (the taxi driver found it difficult to locate it on the street because it was dark).

Cons: I was shocked that my 2 hardboiled eggs and yogurt (in room breakfast) was $30. My husband got fruit and Muesli and it was an additional $30. $60 for a small breakfast!!! Apparently if you order anything they charge you for a full buffet. Had I know that, I would have just gone downstairs to the buffet. The laundry service was also ridiculously priced. My husband washed 4 pairs of boxers and three pairs of socks and it was $60. Shame on us for not planning better, but shame on them for price gouging.

Pros: The Location is excellent as you can walk across the street to the Pio Principle train station. There is also a small shopping mall there as well. The price is inexpensive.

Pros: This hotel is so bad and it should be 2 star max the rooms are not clean , toilets are also not clean and old fixtures with no maintaince, no proper aminites as in any 4 star hotel ,Breakfast is poor an ,overall it is not a hotel to be recommend ,

Pros: The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and had wonderful views over the Royal Palace. Access to the city centre was walkable or useof the "R" underground route ran every three minutes and got you to "Opera" close to the city centre. Perfect location for a quiet comfortable good value for money hotel.

Cons: The room Air conditioning was almost non existent. It was very warm in Madrid when we stayed. I need to be under the covers when I sleep. The pillows were the worst I have ever encountered! They were long and thin so they offered no head support. If you folded them in half it was worse because it became very firm and uncomfortable like sleeping on a bath towel that was rolled up and then folded in half. I need absolute darkness to sleep. The light illuminating from the TV literally lit the room up. It wasn't until our last night that I figured to cover the TV with blankets. The walls and ceilings seem thin because I heard banging and conversations going on in other rooms, both above and on the side of me. You could even hear the people across the hall. The complimentary breakfast buffet also was not worth even going to. Everything was not only substandard and cheap, but while we were there the hotel was at capacity, so the buffet area was extremely loud, and everyone was grabbing food as fast as they could. We ate breakfast outside each day after that. Bottom line...Spend a few extra bucks for a more comfortable hotel, with a better breakfast!

Cons: if you are sensetive to the noises and commotion, i do not recommend this hotel. you can always hear not only noises in the street (during whole night) but also the voices behind the wall of other rooms.
