Bait and switch. Promised cheap rate then after waiting for over 30 minutes in line I was told it would be a two hour wait for a car or I could upgrade to an SUV to get out of there quicker. Ended up spending 3 times the original rate. Could have went with Enterprise for cheaper and would have been out of there quicker with a nicer car.

I had a disastrous experience with my car rental booked through KAYAK. Upon arriving to pick up the vehicle—which had been paid for in full weeks prior to the trip—I was informed that I had to be a U.S. citizen. Even worse, I was told the rental included no insurance coverage whatsoever, not even the basic minimum (which is impossible, as having insurance is a legal requirement). Since it was 11:00 PM and the EUROPCAR branch was closing, I was forced to purchase insurance with an excess, paying €122.99—double the cost of my original prepaid rental (€94.74). For this reason, I am requesting a refund of the €122.99 paid; nowhere in the contract was it stated that the reservation was restricted to U.S. citizens, nor was it indicated that the rental came without any insurance coverage. I look forward to hearing from you.

I arrived to pick up my car as I have done many times before and I could not find my driving licence- it transpires it was in my suitcase. the assistant would not hire3 me the car despite me offering him to check the DVLA site with my passport details to verify that i did have a full licence and No points. I was charged £176.00 and not even given a hire car and I will be contacting the CEO and You and your on BBC radio 4 -

They increased the price for the insurance at the counter. In case you don't want to pay for it, you gotta leave a voucher of $45000 for a $20000 brand new car.

We were not rented the car we had reserved as we did not have an international drivers license. Had we known of this requirement before leaving canada we could have obtained one and saved ourselves a lot of grief and considerable expense

We had a flat tire on the 6th day of our rental, they picked up the car and never gave us a replacement. We could not return to the airport the next day. Ended up spending a lot of money to make our way back to the airport

It was a nightmare to pick up the car. There are no clear signs showing where Europecar is. This caused over a 1 hour delay in us gettting the car.

Location, rental price and vehicle were positive, however the pickup and drop-off experience was less enjoyable compared to other agencies. Factors such as a high refundable deposit ($1500), a 2500km limit on mileage (even though functionally irrelevent), and requirement for two pieces of identification with address were unexpected and made the process less smooth. Demeanor of staff also could have been friendlier.
