Pros: Having researched beforehand this hotel met and exceeded all my wishes for this birthday celebration for my partner. We had a minor hiccup after checking in as our room heating was not functioning rendering the room freezing! But the swift and professional response by your colleague Hester van Groot (?) rendered the matter fixed in moments and our new room was even nicer than the former. Both of us have worked in the public service sector most of our lives and are well aware that unplanned events can occur at any given moment. It usually matters not so much on why they happened but more on how they are resolved. Hester rose to the occasion admirably and left us feeling that we were old friends. Well done! Cons: It was very cold in our rooms. My mum is 88 and needs to be warm. The staff gave us heaters that warmed us up. We thought mum was going to get a walk in shower as she is a wheelchair user and cannot use a bath. We had afternoon tea which was super expensive for what it was.

Cons: I didn’t want a big breakfast and ordered a waffle which came out with no accompaniments at all just one plain waffle on its own on the plate . I thought it might come with berries or something so was a bit surprised when it came out just plonked on a plate. No preparation I guess so be careful what you wish for . It just looked a bit sad for such a great hotel.

Cons: The only (slightly) negative feedback is, like other travelers, the sound in the night of glass bottles being emptied into recycle bins outside is a bit annoying. Also, we couldn't eat the scrambled eggs at breakfast as they were really watery. The second morning we ordered poached and they were much better! :)

Cons: I've stayed here twice now, first room was excellent, the second one a bit less so as it is at ground floor flush against the courtyard, with imperfect sound and light isolation. Didn't really bother me much though, still had a good night's sleep.

Cons: Sat in lounge area which was beautiful but although there was staff around nobody cleared away the table of cups and plates and crumbs the whole time we were there (45 mins). In the breakfast room some of the plants on windowsill had dropped dead flowers, leaves,mess etc. Some plants looked half dead. Only a small thing I know but not great. Showers not great at the pool.

Cons: There was a piece of stale cake in the room with a note saying ‘happy birthday’ to somebody else. The room was very cold and although we had a disabled badge, we still had to pay full parking price.

Cons: The staff were very welcoming and helpful but we felt there were not enough of them so they were rather hard pressed in the restaurant and bar. The staff themselves did all they could to provide a timely and efficient service but it was hard work for them.

Pros: Bedroom was nice, alittle overpriced for size but good view and very comfy. The cooked breakfast was especially nice and there was loads to eat, we didnt need to buy lunch! On the first night we went to the gin bar attached and had a great time. The barman was friendly and gave great service.

Cons: On the second night we ordered room service for dinner. The pizza was nice but the fish and chips were very disappointing (8 soggy chips and overcooked bartered fish). Other than that we had a great time.

Cons: The shower was not great in terms of water pressure. For the price of the stay breakfast should have been included and there should have been decent biscuits in the room. When we arrived there was not enough parking spaces for the two cars in our group.

Cons: I would like you to explain why a payment of £30 per room is payable on arrival. I have never been asked this before. The usual is that credit card details are taken as a precaution. Also the room was VERY noisy so much so that it interfered with our sleep. I was in the next room to my brother and his wife and they had to ask to move rooms. Surely something can be done to stop this.

Cons: There were a few minor issues Room was extremely hot but a fan was provided. It was noise in the morning with then Kitchen staff were making breakfast which was below our room. One strange thing was where we were allowed to keep our bags before we checked in our room...this room was unmanned unlocked. I would of liked to keep out luggage somewhere secure, although on request the staff did keep my laptop at reception instead Wireless access was poor had problems connecting.

Dinner in the gourmet bar was amazing and I’d highly recommend eating there. Dave especially was awesome at recommending certain dishes and they didn’t disappoint!!
