Pros: Great area, easy access to motorways, food and wines amazing.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We liked everything from start to finish, nothing is to much trouble for the hosts, heather and her husband. They booked taxis and we had food in our room not to mention the top quality breakfast the next day,we will be back and give them a ten out of ten for everything.
Cons: Nothing to do with the venue really, but the sat nav takes you to a muddy lane to gain access when there is a driveway round the other side of the property, maybe a sign up at the gate to tell people to turn around and go in the other entrance.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautiful place, nice to stay at a place where the warm service is provided, very nice , , but apart from that I would recommend this place to stay.
Cons: only slight downside was the food was on the pricey side
Excellent 9,6

Heather & David make it a home from home with their warm welcome and unique service, which is reflected in their price & WORTH every penny. Pros: Great service
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Friendly staff, good breakfast and good location.
Cons: A little on the tired side e.g. Windows panes require painting and carpet had holes in it.
Good 7,0
Pros: Staff were really friendly, room was comfortable and nice and warm. Please be aware the spa is a car ride from the hotel.
Good 7,7
Pros: we stayed at the hotel to go to a wedding , and loved it from the moment we stepped in through the door .The staff were so attentive and helpfull .My room was on the ground floor and it was stylish ,warm and spotless .The food was excellent and the wedding planners made the day very special .
Cons: The only thing we found difficult was finding the way into the grounds of the hotel as it was nt very well signposted. We also found that we could have done with a few more staff on duty on the bar when it got quite busy.
Good 7,0
Pros: The staff were very nice. Both check in and check out were quick. Was nice to be taken into the lobby and given directions to the room. Room clean and nicely decorated. Fab shower. Bed very comfortable. Hairdryer with a diffuser...brilliant!! Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Room a bit on the small side but had everything needed.
Good 6,3
Pros: The hotel foyer and reception rooms are lovely. The bedroom was clean and had all the essentials but the carpet was worn near the bathroom and the basin was cracked.
Good 7,3
Pros: Lovely room, friendly helpful staff and excellent position of hotel to Darlington shopping centre.
Cons: Nothing.
Good 7,3
Pros: The hotels decor and stylish "style"
Cons: The breakfast waiter ! Grumpy and moody - not an ideal welcome !
Good 6,0
Pros: The hotel was very comfortable and I'm glad the decor is is keeping with the age of the building.
Cons: On our first night there, there was a problem getting a reservation for the restuarant Maxines and we had to eat at 6.30pm.I think they should make sure they have room for hotel guests. Also the restuarant is very, very expensive and my party considered the food was not of a particularly good quality.
Good 7,6
Pros: Free broadband was provided to the room. Very good to see this and wish more hotels would offer it.
Cons: Service during the evening meal was not brilliant....a bit slow, but I have a feeling that the member of staff assigned to my table was in training and so this does mitigate the criticism slightly.
Okay 4,8
Pros: Good food
Cons: Warm white wine
Okay 4,8
Pros: $review.pros
Cons: After ordering room service (2 sandwiches) reception called back and said it was going to take over 1 hour. ridiculous. Also, dinner was meant to be served from 5-10pm. We got to the restaurant and were told rather rudely that it wasn't possible to fit us in at all due to a wedding taking place. Fair enough but should have mentioned this to us when we checked in.
Good 7,6
Pros: we found the hotel welcoming [ warm and cosy ]
Cons: we are not complaining but found the breakfast was rather hurried .too many courses on your table at once.

Excellent 10,0
Pros: The hotel and staff adapted to these times and regulations with humour.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Clean, staff are all very friendly, welcoming and polite. Great place to use as a base as it’s very central to most places.
Cons: Nothing
Mediocre 3,0
Pros: Service at breakfast
Cons: Service at dinner was not good the wait for food too long then they brought the wrong food.
Good 7,9
Pros: Clean and conformable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Car park is quite small and a bit awkward
Excellent 8,3
Pros: I had e mailed the hotel prior to our visit to request a ground floor room due to mobility issues my husband has with stairs (there is no lift). We were given Room 25, which faces the road, was lovely and bright with a lovely comfy bed. Bathroom and shower were excellent. Because of the hot weather, room was very hot but we asked for a fan which was promptly delivered, resulted in a lovely cool room. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Bar prices were very reasonable.
Cons: We had an early start in the morning so by 10pm we were asleep in bed, only to be wakened about 10.30pm with a really loud sound of fast running water. When we contacted the reception, we were advised that the room next door to us had a jacuzzi and the occupants must be using this. The noise we were hearing must be the jets in full flow. I sleep with earplugs and even with them, the noise was really loud. Whilst you cant stop anyone using the jacuzzi, a but of consideration to other occupants would have been nice. Noise didn't stop until about 11.30pm.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very spacious room and helpful staff, ideally located near the wedding venue we went to.
Cons: Nothing to declare a very good stay.
Okay 4,7
Pros: The small sauna/steam room were a nice touch although the steam room was out of service at the time of my visit. Breakfast was good. Staff were very nice and friendly.
Cons: My room was right above the fitness suite and i could hear the TV in the gym at night and early in the morning and my room was also next to the corridor fire door which was banged every time it was opened.
Okay 4,3
Pros: Breakfast was very good and the time of is service fitted in well with our plans.
Cons: The bed clothes where old fashioned and the top cover was not of the standard I would expect in a hotel.
Okay 5,7
Pros: large rooms and a good breakfast
Cons: not a fan of nouveau cuisine

Pros: I liked where it was situated.
Cons: The room window wouldn't close, had to hold it down with my shoes. Reported it but nothing was done. Room was very dusty. Could hear what I think was the boiler most of the night, not a great nights sleep, was very disturbing.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Staff very nice room lovely
Cons: Didn’t like the breakfast. All over cooked the first day hard bacon hard dry black pudding and hard sausage. All very dry Day 2 had poached eggs with both were hard

Excellent 8,0
Pros: Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Shower water pressure was a little low.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Staff were helpful and accommodating when stay had to be cut short due to unforeseen circumstances.
Cons: Lack of parking, limited room service (but understandable)
Good 7,0
Pros: Very helpful, friendly staff and good, secure parking. (basement of building, roller shutter door controlled by Reception)
Cons: Breakfast/menu was simple, but well prepared. A cooked breakfast would be a great addition.
Mediocre 2,7
Cons: Stepping into this place was like stepping into a desperate Kafkaesque novel - brightly lit lobby devoid of atmosphere, half interested man on reception, another guest in tracksuit bottoms sitting there picking his toes, a room which hadn't been decorated or cleaned since circa 1986, and no bar/dining facilities. It was grim. And to make the miserable experience truly dire, the internet date I'd arranged to meet turned out to be a right rough old boot. Lesson here - never go by appearances.
Good 6,3
Pros: Its location was the main reason we chose to stay there! We could walk to our meeting.
Cons: The clock on the Market chiming every 15 minutes, day and night!
Okay 5,3
Pros: friendliness of staff. very helpful
Cons: No facilities for evening meal or a cooked breakfast. room did seem a bit dark, one bulb out.

Okay 5,2
Pros: The food
Cons: Being placed on the third floor when I requested to be put on 1st or 2nd
Okay 4,0
Pros: $review.pros
Cons: i was in a room which must have been over the kitchens as fro 6am in the morning a door was being costantly opened and banged shut like a swinging door type arrangement. The same noise was there each evening when meals were being served. So not a hotel I would stay at again. Also windows were high up - they were filthy and obverlooked a flat roof and fire walk way.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Good hearty breakfast
Cons: More information in advance about access to leisure facilities as I didn't see this on your website.

Good 7,5
Pros: Hotel, grounds and spa were gorgeous
Cons: Prices of the drinks and food were very high, I appreciate it’s 5 star hotel but why charge extortionate prices for run of the mill drink/ food, we stayed in a separate building from the hotel so had to go to breakfast/spa/dinner with our outdoor coats on which isn’t ideal, also although our room was comfortable there was a good few cobwebs in the bathroom, tissue box was empty all throughout our stay and room was chilly
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Fantastic hotel and the spa facilities are amazing. We enjoyed our stay and definitely will be returning.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great stay as usual.Staff were fantastic.

Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very clean , grand hallways very well kept grounds , great concierge service , excellent food all at a good price
Cons: Spa area felt more like a leisure centre at times but I put this down to it being a Saturday afternoon and members being in there with a lot of children

Pros: Very nice property. Rooms were very nice
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Staff were excellent. Rooms were warm and comfortable. Shower was fantastic. Ideally located for my work in the area. Half a mile from A1 north and south junction 59
Cons: Because of covid 19 bar and restaurant couldn't open for obvious reasons.
Okay 5,0
Pros: The room
Cons: No food or drink no fault of the hotel.
Okay 5,0
Pros: good food, friendly staff, decent facilities.
Cons: In urgent need of updating, very run down & dated in places. Very poor choice of drinks (if the bar opens that is!!!) I'm disabled but mobile, the place would be a nightmare for a wheelchair user.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything. Staff so friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing
Okay 4,3
Pros: Needs a bit of a revamp
Good 7,7
Pros: The atmosphere and the all round cheerfulness of all the staff no matter what their duties were.
Cons: There was nothing that we did'nt like.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: the countryside was beautiful, it was set away from all city exposure, in the country. beautiful. food accessible w/o problem. very nice
Good 6,3
Pros: The friendliness of the staff
Cons: Evening meal could have been better. Quite expensive hotel so food needs to be top notch
Good 6,7
Pros: We only stayed one night and only had a light meal but our impression was very favourable - the receptionist in particular was most helpful.
Cons: The absence of a lift (my wife is disabled) is a disadvantage to us considering a longer stay
Okay 5,6
Pros: Nice setting, friendly, helpful staff
Cons: The first room we were allocated was above The Stables pub with a large extraction fan outside the window! Also, the room itself was poky and well worn. However we asked immediately if we could change rooms and after a short time were given a 100 per cent better room in the main building on the first floor where the carpets were new and the room very clean & agreeable!
Okay 5,6
Pros: Nice restaurant, pleasant surroundings, friendly staff, gym facilities
Cons: Noisy guests in the adjoining room, quite small bed
Mediocre 2,8
Pros: The location
Cons: I had to move rooms as it had not been cleaned. T he next room was not much better and there was no table or desk to work on. The ensuite was basic
Okay 5,6
Pros: privacy & comfort
Cons: dirty carpets and no refreshements available in the morning
Okay 4,0
Pros: Location was good.
Cons: The room was dated and the bathroom had silicone everywhere. The leisure facilities were out of use and that was the main reason we booked the hotel in the first place. We were in a room next to the family from hell who started shouting and banging doors from 04.00am onwards! The food was very poor and expensive. I feel very let down by the hotel as did the rest of my family who also stayed there. I would have thought that when booking 5 rooms someone would have said that the leisure complex was closed.

Okay 5,3
Pros: Attended a wedding reception at the hotel - quality of service for this was great as they allowed the wedding party to take photos where they wanted and gave us a free run. Beds were very comfortable and shower was fabulous!
Cons: Poor standard of decoration in places - repairs outstanding, first view into my room was a patch of missing wall paper. Also room doors didn't seem very secure and didn't close behind you - had to be pulled shut. This made it difficult to justify the price which was higher than equivalent other hotels. I had to stay there as I was attending an event.
Okay 5,7

Pros: The location was ideal
Cons: The flat was not clean. my son found a pair of pants , sock and a packet of pro-plus tablets under his bed. Pros: Attentive service, good response to contact including assistance in gaining entry late at night. Shame about the misleading Amex access online that turned out not actually possible for payment - I might not have booked had I known since I rely on getting ba airmiles!
