Pros: The staff are really friendly and welcoming. The hotel is only a minutes walk from the shambles which was perfect for us. My sons room had the view of york minster which was impressive. I would also recommend the 19.30 ghost tour which starts just round the corner from the hotel our story teller was illarious We will definitely stay again and will recommend to family and friends.

Pros: This hotel is perfect for a visit to York. This is a beautiful hotel, in a perfect location. The staff were friendly & extremely helpful. The facilities were excellent too. The gifts/balloons placed in our room for a birthday suprise was the icing on the cake.

Cons: They only have a handful of parking spots at the hotel which need to be reserved. If they are full, you park at a city lot which isn’t very convenient. I think almost all hotels in the area have a similar situation.

Pros: A great location room was spotless a great price love the free Wi-fi which connected to smart tv so can sign in and watch YouTube Netflix and on demand. Breakfast was £10 beautiful setting friendly host with pastries unlimited toast fresh coffee juices cereals and lots of options available for English breakfast perfectly cooked. Didn’t get to use the lounge area or garden as was winter but very quiet perfect to relax. Will be back in near future. Personally I do like a harder bed as was too soft for my back and the shower dripped from bath making floor slightly wet other than that faultless.

Cons: Do not visit York when the Christmas markets are on. We could find nowhere to eat in the evening - not even the hotel which was extremely busy with non residents eating in the restaurant and drinking in the bar. We had a takeaway in our room - which considering the prices we were paying to stay was not acceptable! - Also be aware there is NO parking at this hotel we had a 30 minute walk with a suitcase from the car park we found. We were driving around for nearly an hour trying to find parking. The hotels suggested public parking lot was full!

Cons: Very poor service in restaurant with part of drink order never arriving, waitress forgot to bring desert menu and 20 minutes wait for ice cream. There were only 3 tables being served so a busy night would have been a challenge. Reception staff not very helpful. Room very hot despite turning off radiator and a number of ladybirds.

Cons: There was just a few little gripes firstly room was very cold on arrival as everything lights,heat etc only come on when card is inserted in a slit in the room,it wasn't central heated just a heater it took a while to heat the room on full I had it on all night as no blankets duvet wasn't thick,TV had Netflix but wouldn't let me watch said too many were watching it? I watched Amazon instead as have my own account,breakfast was included but I didn't have any asked about a takeaway one but decided it wasn't worth bothering as had a hospital appointment, they could do with larger bath towels, kettle had limescale and was noisy also being a river view noisy from nightlife and boats .

Curtains that actually shut and keep the light out leading to a great nights sleep. Breakfast was pretty good, good quality bacon, beans and lovely scrambled eggs.

Cons: There were a few minor issues Room was extremely hot but a fan was provided. It was noise in the morning with then Kitchen staff were making breakfast which was below our room. One strange thing was where we were allowed to keep our bags before we checked in our room...this room was unmanned unlocked. I would of liked to keep out luggage somewhere secure, although on request the staff did keep my laptop at reception instead Wireless access was poor had problems connecting.

Cons: The Ibis York Centre - Room 205. This is the location of the absolute worst night in a hotel, of any standard that I have ever experienced anywhere in the world! As we went to the races, we couldn’t check in until we got back in the evening. Our room (205) was not in any condition to allow paying customers to stay in. Here’s why: The whole room smelt of vomit. The smell engulfed you on entry to the room. We traced the smell to the corner of the room to the left hand side of the bed where the evidence of a recent ‘accident’ that hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly was obvious. In addition to the horrific smell, the room was an utter disgrace. The bed sheets were filthy and covered in stains, the curtains were also stained, the skirts were covered in dirt, the carpet was stained and even had a chewing gum mark near the bathroom entrance. I won’t even go in to the bathroom.... Upon entering the room, obviously I immediately complained and asked for a new room but the receptionist (who was very helpful in fairness) stated they were fully booked because of the races and literally didn’t have any spare rooms. So we had to endure this room for what I can only describe as a night from hell! In my opinion, this hotel needs investigating as the room that we paid £136 for would not pass a health & safety inspection.

Cons: Possibly due to a change in the past or so, the air conditioner that was above the door had some panels missing so the gathered dust could be seen. The single beds were small in comparison to other establishments, but still comfortable.
