Pros: My room was very nice and had everything I needed for the week. I had a fully size fridge, microwave two desks and a separate room. It was nice to walk outside the hotel and be directly on the Riverwalk with great restaurants like Macy's, Ritas on the River and Iron Cactus just a few steps away. In the evening the hotel offers three free adult beverages with "snacks" but it could easily be a meal. We had chicken strips, salad, pasta and a baked potato available most evenings. The Air Force sends me here for training once a year and I look forward to staying at the Drury Plaza.,
Cons: My dresser was difficult to close, but it didn't bother me enough to report it until I checked out. No other complaints at all.

Pros: I was very surprised that not only did I get free breakfast with my stay but also free dinner (buffet) and 3 free happy-hour drinks each day! The staff was friendly (sometimes almost over-friendly), and the location was perfect. Highly recommend.
Cons: Room smelled like chlorine when I came in, and the water tasted heavily chlorinated. The room was a bit poorly lit, and the windowsill outside the room was consistently overrun with pigeons. Glasses as opposed to plastic cups would be preferred (for the environment), and a safe to lock up valuables would have been nice. (I prefer not to have to take my passport with me everywhere.)

Pros: We are moving from coast to coast during the COVID 19 crisis. The Gibbs Hotel (across from the Alamo) was not just open, they were extremely welcoming and caring within the necessary restrictions. We had the most beautiful room ever overlooking the Alamo. Although beautiful San Antonio was closed during the pandemic, we will not forget our stay at the Gibbs. It makes things so much better when everyone is worried and stressed to have a place where they not only remember their history, they preserve their beautiful hotel with all the modern amenities. This is a 5* property with 5* staff.
Cons: As a downtown hotel, they have parking in a city lot which is certainly going to be very busy and crowded in normal tourist times in downtown San Antonio.

Pros: Staff is excellent. Justin was extremely helpful to me and family. We arrived after midnight tired and hungry. He assigned our room ASAP and took excellent care of us. We were no longer thirsty nor hungry. The hotel manager is very friendly and easy to communicate with. The kitchen staff is extremely accommodating. My daughter enjoy the breakfast. Cons: Do I have enough space. Let's see. First off the room looked nothing like any of the photos. The room was void of any color, decorations, furnishings or character. It was no where near a $200 a night room. From to moment you arrive you are on your own to unload your bags, drag them in the hotel and then hopefully find the lobby to check in. Which is on the second floor. Everything is expencive like you would expect but their is little to no staff to help you. I would never stay at this hotel again.

Pros: Staff was unprofessional. Check in was at 3, we got there at 7 and the room still wasnt ready. While we waited for 45 minutes we had to get dressed in the public restroom and my girlfriend had to straighten her hair in the hallway because there was no outlets in the restroom. After we finally got our room we had to rush to the spurs gsme that we had planned and ended up missing the first quarter all because of the staff at the hotel. We decided to switch hotels the next day. Other than that the hotel was really nice looking.

Cons: Bed corners are very dangerous, I end up with bruises because bed woods expand from mattress and you can hit your legs easily unless you are very careful. I had the opportunity to talk to other guests and they complain about the same dangerous corners. Bathroom have to many gabs on counter and your personal products can fall while cleaning is happening and you will never find them. If your leave something you have to go to a website to file lost and found. That is very far from what is the main reason of hotels, customer service...... Very poor in that part. Most rooms the city view is the windows of the next building.

Cons: Table lamp on the floor. Already opened $6 water bottle in the mini bar, expired food in the mini bar, windows only opened a few inches due to poor bench placement. No table for sitting, only a bed. I think this room was a poor representation of the hotel, but it needs to be addressed regardless!

Pros: We really appreciated the location of the hotel, it was really convenient in that sense, it was within walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. The staff was also really friendly.

Not knowing that valet was not included they kept trying to swipe different amounts to charge and blocked my card for suspicious faudulent charges. Terrible communication cuz they could've asked me what card I wanted to use, nothing. Also valet customer service was horrible while my sister was arriving in her vehicle with my nephews she asked for help carrying her luggage off and was ignored by valet. He could've called someone for help, but definitely not worth the money, never again

The door handle was at 5 o clock instead of 3. The room did not feel like a Grand Hyatt room. It felt like i was at a cheap hotel. I suggested to the manager that that room should not be occupied untill it get fixed.

As soon as in pulled I to valet, the valets were very kind to not only greet and open the door, they immediately unloaded the car and took me inside to check in. Pros: This bad experience had ever happened to me and my family before. I will never use again KAYAK again to book my reservations. Result, they have this "Getaroom" subsidiary with a poor description of their booking application, and it scammed you before you know the transaction has a nonrefundable policy until it is too late via your email confirmation. I called them, my credit card, agent, and the hotel. None of them were in the good customer satisfaction attitude to refund my money, cancel, or reschedule the booking transaction. Be aware of using them to book your reservation before it is too late. Anyone can make a mistake some time, but this Draculonian thirsty-blooded camming business does not care for you. Pray to Lord, this kind of business entities does not prosper any more in the traveler's economy.

Pros: Being an Onmi hotel I had much higher expectations. It was very dark, although they wanted a certain style (not sure exactlybwhat it was, old, Mexican, historic) they didn't pull it off very well. The carpets were dirty and dull, the room was musty and very dark. The staff was very friendly, the location was prrfect, right in the heart of the fun, the bed was very comfortable and the towels were nice.

Pros: Central Location: Beautiful 150 year old historic hotel, literally across the street from Alamo, Numerous attractions, Riverwalk Mall, Ripley's, Wax Museum, Guinness Records, etc.... Short trolley ride to Historic Market. We used it as base of operations. Bought all-day passes to attractions and walked back to hotel to cool off/swim when needed. Lots of food nearby too. Hotel staff gave great service too. Kids loved all the museum like stuff in the hotel. The bar has a mirror with a bullet hole next to it they say Teddy Roosevelt shot in it on a bet when he was there recruiting his rough riders. Been here several times. It is our 'go to' spot for San Antonio.
Cons: The parking is very expensive. Thirty dollars per day - but it is expensive in the entire city and you do have unlimited in and out privileges. The hotel is really old so it has a few rough edges. The pool tiling needs a bit of repair, some of the doors stick a bit, the elevators are small, floors are a little uneven and a bit sloped here and there, etc. It has a lot of "character", but I guess refurbishing an old hotel is like restoring an old car, you never quite manage to get all of the rattles out of it.

I contacted the hotel to inform them I’d be getting into the city earlier than expected, and when I arrived, before noon, my room was ready;, I was able to check in and enjoy San Antonio right away! Pros: I had reserved the rooms for adult children, spouses, their adult children who came for a family celebration. The all liked the Menger. They found staff to be helpful. For one of them, the room next to them had a noisy guest. The hotel moved my family members to another room where they had the quiet nights they needed. I was impressed by the ease with which that switch was accomplished. Parking staff was helpful in tending to my car when I came to meet & pick up family who stayed there.

It literally took over a minute just to walk to the elevator from our room. It was hot on the 5th floor. The breakfast was good and when we where ready to leave for the day I called to let the staff know so they could come up and clean our room. We where gone the entire day and come back to the same mess we left that morning... At 250 a night plus 30 a night valet parking This should have never happened. That night I went to drink a water bottle the staff provides for you in the room and there was no seal on the lid on either bottle. The cleaning person didn't even bother to change our water bottles. just filled them up with tap water and called it a day. If you are looking for a clean room with basic hotel services I would look past this place!!

The hotel's location is directly on a loop of the riverwalk which is good because it puts you right into the attraction, but is not on the main section so it's much quieter and easier to find a dining place. Parking is available across the street from the hotel and the street itself is not as busy as those nearer the Alamo.
Cons: Parking at the hotel is a ridiculous $36/night and they charged for two parking spots for our two motorcycles even though we actually had both bikes consolidated out of the way in the valet area not even in the parking garage. That was irritating. The hotel staff were polite but very cold and decidedly unfriendly. Don't believe I did anything to be offensive or difficult - I didn't even argue about the parking issue - but all of the desk staff (two in the evening, one in the morning) gave the impression they had much better things to do than speak with me.

Pros: Right on the RiverWalk, Hotel Contessa is luxury meets romance. My sister stay here on spring break and had a wonderful time. The staff was helpful and the city is definitely tourist friendly. Filled with history, charm, and luxury, downtown San Antonio along with the Hotel Contessa were great for our girl's getaway.
Cons: Although the city is tourist friendly, we did got lost. Also, the Hotel Contessa needs to hire more people on their housekeeping staff. During our stay, housekeeping forgot to clean our room one day. Other than that, things were great.

Pros: The location was great, not right in the busiest part of the Riverwalk, but for the price it was a pretty short walk! The pool was small but nice. The rooms seemed fresh and new-ish. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Pros: The room was very comfortable, including the bed and pillows. We asked housekeeping in the hall on our way out for more pillows and not only was the gal we spoke to obliging, but she asked if we wanted soft or firm. The pillows were waiting when we arrived back to the room. We loved that the flooring was not carpet...that gave the feeling of it being even cleaner plus it would make it more hypoallergenic or those with allergy problems. The icing on the cake was the complimentary bottle of champagne they delivered to our room for our anniversary.

We were put in a room directly across from a room that was under construction. Terrible!!! We complained to the front desk who was rude and would NOT give us another room. Now granted their were people checking in hours after us that had nicer rooms. There was was debris and trash all on the carpet in front of our room. We will be in San Antonio next weekend again but WILL NOT be staying there.

I asked her if we could smoke outside the hotel or on our balcony, and she again repeated "not on the premises" well as we went onto the balcony there was an ash tray on the outside table and also noticed guests down below smoking. As we headed outside by the pool I again noticed ash trays throughout the exterior of the hotel. I asked another employee by the name of Richard if we could smoke outside the hotel and he said absolutely and brought us an ashtray.

I appreciated the computers and printer for guest use and the early cafe breakfast options as well as, how accommodating they were for families. I was a little disappointed when we first arrived because our room didn't look anything like the photos and I was admittedly excited about the charm of the pictures advertised.We got over it though once we saw how roomy it was and all the nice amenities like the keurig, etc. Despite how roomy and comfortable the bed was, we inquired about a cot for our daughter to sleep on since the room was def. large enough to accommodate one. They immediately rolled down a large plush bed for her already made up, she thought it was the greatest thing ever! We also found ourselves needing bandaids or batteries for our personal things and they provided everything we asked for on the spot at the front counter. That was huge!! We were blown away by their hospitality. I was also surprised that most of the days my husband told me to go ahead and take the car because they wouldnt even need it. They could go swimming, eat lunch at the bistro, and hop on the river taxi right out back if they wanted to go somewhere. Needless to say this will be our go-to spot anytime we're in SA.

Pros: The hotel was very nice in my opinion I stayed on a friday night and the trip was for me and my girlfriend for a weekend getaway... We booked a King Size bed for the both of us and the room was very nice. We spent te majority of our time outside of the hotel exploring the city but what time we did spend there was enjoyed by my G/F as well as myself... The staff was nice and friendly, the hotel was nice never saw trash landscaping was up to date everything was nice I dont have any complaints. Although in pictures it may look as if it is on the river walk, it isnt unfortunately but to me that wasnt a problem, the river is only about 5 blocks down the road and it took about 4 minutes to get there via car. All in all id say this is a really nice hotel that I would more than love to come back too. Or stay at other Hotel Indigo's in other coties.

Pros: Bed was ok. Did not eat breakfast there. My room had a floor that kept making creaking noise walking over an area towards the closet. I think the floor panels were warped and causing the noise. I also struggled with every day my door card to open the door was not working. I had to come back to the front desk Friday and Saturday to get my cards fixed and I had a lot of bags that I was carrying so I was frustrated.

I feel that I always picked this hotel specifically because I use to see the value and care but I haven't felt that the last two recent stays so I will probably not return to this hotel anymore. I like how the valet guy suggested we park for free on the street instead of spending money on valet since we would be there for one night. That was really helpful and he seemed to genuinely care for us to save $$$! We are a young couple and brought our 5 year old so every bit counts. The walk from the boardwalk was only about 10-15 minutes but still fairly close to the hotel.

We mainly came out to swim and when we went swimming the bottom of the pool felt as if it were coming up? Like as if there was a film covering the pool which was kind of interesting. While in the hot tub there was a couple smoking pot which was not okay, seeing that there were children and families everywhere. When the staff came out to check it out he did not do anything or tell them anything. The couple had thrown whatever they were smoking off the roof so they weren't caught with it but it was fairly obvious that they were smoking. I thought that they would've handled it differently but the staff member seemed okay with the situations and even told the other staff me ever that everything was okay....when that was definitely not.

White bath towel had brown stains, Coffee stains on cups, made me feel that hotels weren't as clean as they could have been. I ordered room service from the "Late Night Dining" menu and asked if I could make a change. I was told "no" because all items were pre-made. Even so, it took 50 minutes to arrive.

Pros: The entire staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful! Hotel also had excellent access to the Riverwalk!
Cons: The hotel was dated looking and in need of being refreshed. However as I understand it they are in the process of pplanning to remodel it! Parking is very expensive $38 for valet and $32 for self park. Also limited availabillity of valet parking! Wifi is $10/day!

Cons: After our very long day (wedding) we stood at the check in for about a good 25 minutes while they tried to get us checked in something was wrong with the printer....... it was 3am and was ready to go up to our room. When I asked about parking the day before they made it seemed like there was only valet parking available ($33) but sure enough there was self park Which we found out about at check out.

Cons: Hot tub was way too hot to use and pool was too cold to use. Everything else was ok. The hotel is clean but much like the rest of Texas, nothing has been updated since the 80's.

Pros: Location - location - location - right on the Riverwalk. Conference facility was well laid out and easy to navigate and handled our 300 attendees well. Concierge was very nice and helpful, as was transportation staff. Food was above average, especially a lunch that was part of our conference.
Cons: Had a billing problem that hotel desk staff (including manager) seemed unwilling/unable to resolve. Problem rested with the hotel, but I had to go to our conference coordinator to finally take care of it. Unnecessary run around that should have been quickly resolved. Room WiFi normally requires extra fee ($9.95/day). Only free in the lobby. Luckily, my conference arranged free WiFi for attendees. Seems a poor method of getting a little more money out of a guest.

Pros: I didn't know that when we made our reservation that we had been sent to a third party site. My fiancé had an emergency at work and we needed to reschedule. The hotel was fine with it, but it had to be done through the booking site . Unfortunately the booking site wouldn't allow it. We lost our money I will never book a hotel with kayak again.

Pros: Liked the view, beds were comfy, staff was friendly, I liked that a portable crib was available for use.
Cons: Did not like that the rooms didn't come with refrigerator and microwave. For couples with babies this is a big inconvenience. A 4 or 5 star hotel should have these in the the room or at least have them available free of charge. I had to pay $15 extra for a microwave. Just ridiculous.

Pros: The room was nice and clean and we had a view of the riverwalk from the room. Wifi was free, not all hotels in the area offer free WiFi.
Cons: The wait for the elevators at checkout time were intense. We were on the 20th floor and ended up taking the stairs all the way down bc the elevator was full every single time it came to our floor.

Pros: The only positive is the staff. We wanted to try a hotel that wasn't a chain... Marriott, Holiday Inn, ect. Check in was great - super friendly and gave us drink coupons for the bar because it was our anniversary. Check out was even great - we left in the middle of the night and didn't end of staying - but the staff was understanding and fantastic.
Cons: This place feel like your in the movie Scarface... It's old. Think Miami in the 60s vibe. But that's not a problem. The problem is it's not maintained. NO ICE on ANY of the floors - which the knew about and said there was ice bags a huge cooler for us to take, but the cooler was empty and never refilled. Now to the real problem... And this is why we didn't stay... I woke up at 2am with a roach crawling up my arm!!!!! And then more roaches in the hallway! They offered to switch rooms but I wanted to go. So we left at 2am because I was now wide awake and couldn't go back to sleep and made sure to hot water wash everything when I got home. DO NOT STAY HERE NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE PRICE - NOT WORTH IT

Cons: When I first walked in the room was very out dated. The room still has wall paper. Which to me is very old school. Second was the pillow had seimen on them. Yes that's rite I said Seimen. I have pictures to prove it. I felt discussed and question about staying the night. Third is when I open the curtains to look at the view. All I can see was bird poop all over the Windows. Not a very pleasant view. I have pictures also to prove that. The pictures that was online didn't quite match the rooms in person. For the price I paid I felt like i was staying in a motel 6 yes that's bad. I told the employee Art at the service desk about my stay. He took notes and said the manager will give me a call. Can't wait for that call. He gave me two coupons for complementary drinks at the coffee shop. By the way the drinks didn't taste good so went to the trash. I wouldn't stay in the hotel the next time I'm in town which is next month.

Pros: The uniqueness of this retro-style hotel with large open spaces and unique architectural touches (on-site bar, breakfast buffet available, poolside tiki bar) made this a special getaway. Large pool and deck area were a respite from the Texas heat. Easy access to Riverwalk and Rio Taxi stop on the river but away from the noise and bustle. Museum Reach section of the Riverwalk just north made for awesome morning exercise and refreshing green space. Room was basic but certainly adequate. Super-fast elevator from 7th floor a plus.

Cons: Housekeeping was a little rude. Knocked on our door at 8am then again at 10:30am and asked if we were checking out late even though check out was at noon. Not faulting the hotel for an individual's actions just disappointing.
