Pros: The suite was great - nice sitting area, spacious bathroom, good bedroom and everything worked perfectly. The hotel's location is directly on a loop of the riverwalk which is good because it puts you right into the attraction, but is not on the main section so it's much quieter and easier to find a dining place. Parking is available across the street from the hotel and the street itself is not as busy as those nearer the Alamo.

Parking is available across the street from the hotel and the street itself is not as busy as those nearer the Alamo.
Cons: Parking at the hotel is a ridiculous $36/night and they charged for two parking spots for our two motorcycles even though we actually had both bikes consolidated out of the way in the valet area not even in the parking garage. That was irritating.
The hotel staff were polite but very cold and decidedly unfriendly. Don't believe I did anything to be offensive or difficult - I didn't even argue about the parking issue - but all of the desk staff (two in the evening, one in the morning) gave the impression they had much better things to do than speak with me.

Pros: Made a special stop at the river walk on our five day trek from Pittsburgh to puerto Vallarta Mexico. Stopped to enjoy the beautiful view and exeperience the river walk. The resort was absolutely gorgeous. Unique with design, very friendly conceierge, and beautiful room layout.
Cons: Our one and only critique, and rather silly at that, after pulling in with our vehicle and stopping at the front valet, the attendant seemed almost shocked when we said, yes we would like you to park the car, and replied with an almost doubtful "are you sure? Wouldn't you like to hear the prices?" Though I'm sure he was just trying to do his job and avoid later frustration, the tone in which he asked us the question was borderline offensive. Young man if we can afford to stay where we are staying we certainly assure you we can afford to park.

Pros: This hotel is an old office building (> 100 years) that still has the original marble and wood doors, so it is very unique. It stands where a corner of the Alamo used to stand and where the final attack on the Alamo came from, so from a historical perspective that is pretty neat. The rooms are not huge and the bathroom is small by today's hotel standards, but sufficient. The room was quiet and comfortable and the decor modern. Between the historical aspect, the room comfort, and the friendliness of the staff it was well worth the money and then some!

Cons: Breakfast was really poor quality ...canned peaches and canned pineapple with limited options for breakfast. A late night ceiling leak required a visit from staff, the first person did not respect my personal space and got right in my face cornering me in the bathroom. He said it’s ok he’s a security guard and I was so shaken that I pushed past him and called the desk. The gentlemen who came to fix the leak saw how visibly shaken I was and said they’d report him. When I got kicked out of my room bc my key wouldn’t work they sent the same ‘security’ guard to let me in. I did not feel safe.

Cons: I was not aware that there would be remodeling going on. I wanted a drink from the minibar and was told that this service was being discontinued but room service had full bar. I had no ides how much more 2 bar drinks would cost vs just using the minibar! $40 for 2 drinks delivered to our room is excessive! Also, we were put in an older room rather than a remodeled one and the bed was uncomfortable

Pros: Location is amazing, and the hotel staff are very helpful. Everything was clean.
Cons: There were quite a few hidden / not communicated fees. I'm sure it's true of most centrally-located hotels, but for instance we were charged 3 times for overnight valet ($42/night) even though we only stayed two nights. With all the other taxes and fees (plus room service one time) we paid almost double what we had originally booked. Not really worth it considering the room was pleasant but basic. We also told them it was for our wedding night, anticipating some small gesture, but we didn't receive anything special.

Cons: No free wifi in the rooms. Under construction so we had to keep walking outside between the rooms and lobby. Also, couldn't use the exit to the River walk, had to walk around.
6,0 Good
Pros: Location on the Riverwalk. It allows dogs.
Cons: The hotel needs a major renovation. It looks old & dingy. Also there’s no designated area on the hotel property for dogs to relieve themselves. I recommend they get one. We still love Omni hotels.

Pros: Did not take breakfast. Location was OK
Cons: Water closet was not working properly. Tank would not fill up after flushing. Bed was right in front of the door while the sofa was farther away. Should have been the TV and sofa and the bathroom near the door and the bed near the windows.

Pros: the staff are nice and kind.
Cons: the elevator is too old and parking fee is a little expensive.

Cons: It's deplorable that they make you pay for parking there when we're already paying to stay there.

Pros: Location is excellent
Cons: Now have to pay for both Parking and Breakfast. Charging like a 4 star hotel for a 3 star hotel. Shower had cracked tile and toilet seat was loose.

Pros: On the RiverWalk, 15 riverside walk to the RiverCenter downtown area. Clean large room, comfortable bed, great staff. Affordable rate, compared to competition from higher-end hotels.
Cons: $15 a night parking fee (used to be free). $9 breakfast charge (used to be free, and still is at other Hyatt Place Properties). Those additional charges were not mentioned at booking and for me were unacceptable.

Pros: The location was great, front desk staff was pleasant. The room was clean, and had a bath tub.

Pros: Excellent location on a quieter section of The Riverwalk allowed quick, easy access to the fun without all the noise keeping me up all night.
Cons: My bed had obviously been slept on by multiple people! One side had an uncomfortable indentation about 2-inches deep which made sleeping in the middle of the bed impossible because I kept rolling to the low side where the mattress was lumpy and broken down. I woke with back pain each morning. However, my traveling companion did not have an uneven mattress and slept like a baby!

Pros: The location was great and a short walk to the market square, free parking was a bonus! The beds had outlets on the side of the headboards and the lamps were bright, most hotel lighting isn't that great but theres was ok.
Cons: Going to our room the first day was a pain the hallway was full of dirty towels, plates, bed sheets, and cleaning carts. The layout is confusing at first but once you find your room it gets easier. Our first night an alarm blared out at 1:45 am and again at 5 am, I mentioned it to the front desk the next day and the lady was sick coughing all over the front desk and sneezing and said it was a false alarm but just in our room..? We asked for a pool side room and we got to view the top of the main entrance roof, disappointing. Also, the sliding door in the room doesn't open the bathroom was nice but then you walk in and you notice the stains on the walls and the toilet seat had...hair like lots of hair and was dusty, I had to use a hand towel to clean the seat and the door you had to slam it shut, like hard. The carpet had some dark red stains and brown ones in the corners. I honestly am disappointed the last time we stayed here the rooms were so nice and clean but they have gone down. We stayed in room 396 in case y'all want that amazing view.

Cons: Someone was always trying to get you to "check out their other properties" for the Wyndam resort rewards thing. Annoying. Food and drinks were expensive. no microwave no fridge no frills. It states it is on the riverwalk ..however... you are on the side of the river walk where there is nothing, you have to walk blocks to get to the shops and restaurants and the Homeless were everywhere. Not safe going out after dark. Nowhere close to eat at without walking several blocks on the street. Suggest you take a taxi or uber if you go out for diner at night. We gave up and ate at restaurant in hotel. the food was good, but expensive.

Pros: Everything about the property from the music that played softly in the background to the decor and the layout took me back to the wonderful hotels of the 50s and 60s with all the amenities of the modern day hotel. I had a great view of the Riverwalk from my room. I came here as a child with my grandparents when my grandfather was beginning the building of UTSA as their first president and I thought it was a wonderful place then. Coming back for a conference as a middle-aged adult, it was like a weekend trip down memory lane. As a historian, I know how much nostalgia and a unique vision are the hallmarks of a great hotel experience. Thank you, El Tropicano for staying true to your original vision and not becoming just another cookie cutter hotel like so many are today, where you can't tell one from the next.

Cons: First off, when we entered our room there was a really bad musty smell coming from the heater vent, the room got really hot, and even tho it was cold outside, it was really hot even without the heater, it didn’t give us an option to turn on the AC so we had to sleep with the balcony door open. they advertise a tikki bar with a nice fire place but it was closed the whole day! and a roof top bar that was also closed. It’s on the river walk but it’s at the end so we had to walk about 25mins to get to where everything is at. so yea we won’t be staying here anymore. and I don’t recommend it to anyone

Pros: Staff and great location
Cons: Bed was super uncomfortable ...
4,6 Okay
Pros:
Cons: The fact parking was 30$ and in a shitty part of down town literally had a dude walking by bleeding from his head sayin to be careful because he was just pistol whipped.... It said it was 128 for the stay total after everything was nearly 200... Not worth the money

Cons: The beef street tacos in the restaurant were horrible. I am not a picky eater but I could not eat this meat l. It had the most atrocious taste. I didn't think anyone could ruin a street taco until I ate those. I ordered them to take back to my room and ended up picking the meat off and throwing it away and just eating the slaw and corn shell by itself. The rest of the food during my stay was great, especially the breakfast buffet. I did not eat at the coffee bar but was told that it was also very good.

Pros: The decorations were great staff was awesome
Cons: Kind of a funny smell in the halls and room. the breakfast in the lobby was overpriced for what you get. Not impressed at all with the little bit of food.

Pros: Nothing at all
Cons: Terrible location, room smelled musty, mold in the shower! I felt dirty being in our room. We Checked out a day early and cut our trip short due to our stay.

Pros: It was beautiful on the outside. The lobby was clean and inviting, and they had a really modern valet retrieval system.
Cons: Hot room, HVAC system controlled from front desk - majority rules. In room phone did not dial 0, had to call from cell phone. Elevators broken.
1,0 Poor
Pros:
Cons: This hotel was not as described or pictured on their website. The rooms were run down and dirty. The outside pool area was in need of repair as well. The staff was friendly however the condition of the rooms and hotel was horrible.
10,0 Excellent
Pros:
Cons: The parking was extra 30 dollars a night on top of the room... you would think it would be included? also i booked through booking.com and it said it would charge me in candian dollar and it ended up being US dollar on my visa.
