Taipei City hotels in Xinyi District

Cons: Some rooms were advertised as not having a window. I chose a room opposite of this, checked with the staff and they also confirmed my room would have a window. In the end, I was still stuck with a room that did not have a window. And management saying that because I booked the room online, was unable to change rooms without a heavy penalty.

Cons: Nothing - it was perfect

Cons: We were given a room and the power blew 5 minutes later (only to that room), they moved us to another room. Two of the four days they said we would get boxed breakfast (which we paid for) and then they didn’t have it and we missed the window to actually get a sit down breakfast. They refunded us the money, but it was a hassle. The last night the air conditioning went out in the hotel...when we woke up it was 87 degrees in our room.

Cons: Thin walls, so thin you can hear the conversations of neighbors. And whenever any doorbell around you rings, it sounds like your own. The breakfast was also horrible, and although they have their own bar, it closes very early most nights.

Cons: I booked a room with my credit card (to secure my space) and the confirmation letter said the fee will be paid at the hotel upon my arrival, so when I checked in, I told them I'll pay cash for my stay; thus, I thought they wouldn't charge the fee on my credit card when I checked out and told them again that I'd pay cash for my stay; after I got home from my trip in Taipei, I checked my credit card account and saw a pending fee for the hotel stay; I called Sparkle hotel immediately and then I was told I'll have to wait for up to one month (since I'm using a foreign credit card) to wait for the bank to process the refund.... if I had known or was told that they have already charged the fee on the card when I was going to check out, then I wouldn't have had decided to pay with cash then and thus can avoid going through the time-consuming process of getting my money back later. I wish they'd inform the customers in advance if SPARKLE hotel has already charged the fee on the card upon check-in. The hotel is great in all ways, and I really enjoy my stay there with my kid. I guess I'll just have to ask the front desk about the payment upon my check-in in the future more carefully. I'll definitely choose to stay in this hotel again in the future!

Cons: Not terribly clean, dated

Cons: Basically a love hotel. The room I had was like a motel with a Jacuzzi. Normally used for secret love affairs and more. Bad surprise, esp since the guy at the counter didn't say anything
