Oberwiesenthal hotels

Pros: The B&B and I had to remember that it was a B&B and not hotel was OK. It was a shame the restaurant and bar was not open as its out of town. The breakfast was basic but good. I was interested in visiting the steam railways in the area and this B&B was right by the line of one of them.

Cons: The cost for a B&B was a little high. I stayed for 5 nights and the towels in the bathroom were never changed.

Pros: Great value for money and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Pros: Nice and clean room, clean and big badroom. Enough space for winter clothing in the vestibule. Parking behind the Hotel, with direct entrance.

Cons: everything was fine.

Pros: A very good hotel! Staff is super friendly! Food is delicious and very well priced! It is a very homely place! The staff went out of their way to support us and our group even though they didn't all stay at that hotel. It close to the centre, event though its an uphill walk.

Pros: Location was great. Breakfast with a view

Cons: There is no elevator, room was on first floor and had to carry the baby stroller every time trough the steep stairs.

Pros: The location is very good. The room is spacious and comfortable.

Cons: We paid breakfast as extra although it was included in the original offer. There is no Telephon in the room!

Pros: Breakfast was superb! The staff was always helpful and even gave me suggestions on places to buy souvenirs!

Cons: I didn't like the snow in the middle of May

Pros: Fantastic staff, amazing kitchen with generous portions, breakfast is also amazing with a wide variety to suit every possible taste

Cons: The only negative was the sometimes shaky internet access, however this was due to a fault in the phone system which was resolved.

Pros: Perfect location in ski resort of Fichtelberg. Stuff is exceptional nice and we had a great time up there.

Pros: The hotel is really very close to the center and ski area. Food in first and second restoraunts was very delicious and we are enjoyed. Outdoor 85 degrees sauna with amazing mountains view was perfect. The massage girl from Poland made for us exelent massages. She was there on second day of our holiday and she was very friendly, but another one from first day of our holiday was nervios and unhelpful. And another staff in hotel is very friendly also!

Pros: Breakfast was really nice; the hotel is considerably close to the ski slopes (I think most of the other hotels are located farther).

Cons: There's nothing to complain about too much, however, it's definitely overpriced for a typically "average" type of accommodation (but I guess since Oberwiesenthal is basically the only decent place to ski in East Germany there is always a high demand). Put more benches in the ski storage room, one is truly not enough when there's like ten people in there!

Pros: The breakfast was quite nice for a buffet, the hotel is very close to the ski lifts, the sauna was usable. The staff was very nice to us and helped us with our requests.

Cons: The people staying there are a little stiff, which is probably because of its designation as a children-free hotel. The restaurant in the hotel tried to be original, but could've been better. The parking on the next day is only until 3 pm which was too little for us so we had to move our car.

Pros: Easily the best hotel in Oberweisenthal that I have been to (been to quite a few). Parking is easy, rooms and breakfast are good, staff are helpful.

Cons: It's expensive but for the comfort and close parking it is worth it, especially if it's a short stay

Pros: Owner Mario as well as waiters Daniel and Jacob pulled out all the stops during our stay! They helped us when we had health related problems and helped all the archers at the European Champs to get to their courses every day! Well impressed!

Pros: Good breakfast with good selection of rolls, meat and cheeses as well as boiled eggs and cereals. The hotel is ideally situated for the Flichtelbahn as the railway station is only 3 minutes walk away. The location is very quiet ensuring a good nights rest. Multiple channel TV and free wi-fi were a bonus.

Cons: One very flat feather pillow was not enough; I would suggest that the hotel has at least 2 firmer pillows for each guest.

Pros: The staff was nice and the breakfast was fairly good.

Cons: You need to pay extra fees for everything and it cost a lot! Even to use the sauna it costs extra and the pool is just a norma swimming pool with no massage or bubbles or anything. The dinner was more like a school lunch buffet in meanings of variety, taste and quality. Overall the hotel is super retro, a good amount of renovation and modernization would be needed!

Pros: To be honest, it is totally worth the price. Of course, the furniture and equipment is a little outdated (as it is an older hotel), but still very well useable. The bed is comfortable, TV is big with a lot of channels and bathroom is very well equipped (including hair dryer). During morning, hosts can enjoy a very good breakfast with a huge selection. Really, I think everyone is able to choose whatever they want. We purchased a half board and that was a really good choice as the dinners there are also excellent - again, everyone can choose from the suprisingly huge variety of meals. A small bonus is that their language skills are German, English, Hungarian, Turkish, Spanish, and Czech. So there is no language barrier for sure. We also enjoyed their delicious alcoholic coctails on the bar (for totally reasonable prices). A huge advantage is the location of the hotel and their large and clean swimming pool.

Cons: Parking should be for free. And the carpets in the halls should be cleaned or replaced.

Pros: Location near the slope. A lot of dishes served both for breakfest and dinner. Pool. Good place for families and children

Cons: Staff don't speak English. Small rooms and bathroom. Cigarette smell in the main hall

Pros: Location of the hotel is great if you are a skier as you can arrive and depart from the hotel, but if you are in the town for dinner or don't have a car, the walk back to the hotel can be a bit tough - it's a 1km walk one way and to the town and can be a bit tough in adverse weather conditions.

Cons: Most of the ski lifts are terrible and really need an update as they are the old style lifts where you are pulled up on your skis - there is only the chair lift on the 1 side and not the main slopes. Also, these lifts are slow and are generally quite jam-packed. The snow isn't kept in the best condition either and I think this needs a bit of work here too.

Pros: Great German food, super close to the bike park in Czech, staff was really friendly and spoke English very well.

Cons: Quite hours, teenagers were in the parking lot at 2 in the morning screaming and shouting.

Cons: No bike pumps. Gym could use some weights and more equipment.

Pros: We came with kids, 6 and 8. They loved the pool, the football court and the game room. The summer bobsleighs track was also a hit. (Kids rise with parents)

Cons: A bit warn down and the restaurant is very busy with a buffet arrangement for both breakfast and dinner. The steakhouse was average.

Pros: The room was comfortable. Breakfasts in the hotel are excellent. Sauna was also very good and relaxing.

Pros: The hotel is in a central location in the market square and not far from the slopes. Its a perfect hotel for families - the kids loved the themed evening buffet. Our room was clean and spacious . There even is a sauna if u fancy it.

Pros: Location is almost perfect. It's a 5 min walk to the ski resort. They have very large ski rooms with lockers. The coffee is great and also the drinks you get with the all inclusive option. The service is also friendly.

Cons: You just have to fight your way through comfort. For a 4 star hotel its dirty. The check in is at 15:00 but at 17:30 the cleaning team was still on my room and when we reclaimed the late check in we were called liars. Got blood stains on my pillow and fungi on the bathroom. Sauna is always closed or cold when needed. The sauna and the floor are sticky so don't forget your flip flops. The food is always warmups from the night before. And since the hotel is partner with another hotel you never know where the breakfast is going to be... Like I said you have to fight your way through comfort.

Pros: The location is spot on. Check in and out was not really any hassle (others have said staff are rude, we didn't have this problem although can speak German). The room itself was nice. Breakfast was good.

Cons: Corridors were a bit old and tired and dark. Pretty overpriced, but so are many of the places here during ski season.

Pros: Willing and kind staff. Great choice of breakfast.

Cons: The family room was pretty small for families with children. The possibility of dinner was greatly restricted (only a buffet with a focus on one type of food, a little expensive for one person).

Pros: Beds were comfortable, food was good, ample dining and breakfast areas, staff was helpful. The billiard room was great.

Cons: We were surprised by the pictures in the lounge. One of them in particular showed a woman with a hangover. No electric kettle or tea in the bedroom,
