Pros: We loved everything in this Hotel - the room was spacious and we got upgraded since it was our Honeymoon - the food both at the restaurants and the room service was amazing and very tasty and the spa was great . The location is amazing especially for short stays ! 100% recommended ❤️

Baby sitting service outsourced was fantastic, our sitter was a preschool teacher.
The Concierge service was second to none and nothing was ever a problem, even though we called them 15 times on the first evening.
Located right on the Bund (my room didn't have a Bund view) and was a 50m walk to the waters edge, and on one of the biggest shopping streets in China (East Nanjing Road).

Pros: Unusually beautiful classy hotel built in l920’s. Location on the Bund allows easy access to promenade and it’s spectacular light show every night. Very clean. Inside facing rooms quiet. Staff mostly spoke and understood English and very accommodating. Gold executive lounge first class. Spa facilities fantastic.

Cons: The food in the Chinese restaurant on eight floor is too expensive, and no value for money. The decoration in the main lobby should be updated and upgraded to meet the level of a 5-star hotel. Soft decorations should be considered in the lobby.

Cons: Controls for heat and cooling did not do much to change the temperature of air flow. Very small temperature range allowed. But did not bother us much.

Pros: Hotel location was fantastic, which is why we chose it. Reception and checking in was very good and impressive. The room was basic, with little in the way of 5* amenities e.g. coffee pod machine, turn down service or broad TV/satellite service. It was more in the way of a UK Premier Inn type room - comfortable but easily forgettable. Considering it was New Years Eve the hotel was very quiet and lacked any ‘atmosphere’ in any of the communal areas. There was a reasonably priced NY party, but it finished at 10pm which negated the impetus to attend. All in all, it was fine, but nothing memorable and not on the league of other 5* hotels that I have stayed at.

Cons: The front desk asked me to mark all the amenities ( tooth brush, shower caps, etc) I need at the time of check in. I did, but none of them came during my 3 days stay. What’s the point of complete the request for the amenities, if not follow up? Considering this is a 5 Star property, it is a disappointment.

Cons: My room had a clear space for an iron, but it was missing. The hair dryer was cracked and broken, though it still operated. The shower door did not close well, and after every usage, there would be a significant puddle of water on the floor outside the shower (or a fully soaked towel).

Pros: The place smells wonderful, from the floral smell that hits at the door, the wonderful food smells in the elevator to the clean room smell, this is a beautiful place to stay. The view of the city is lovely, and the room good sized. We have the option of luxurious bath tub or rain type shower. There are two sinks, and the bed is of course most comfortable with light control buttons on the nightstand. The toilet is automatic, and I do believe the seats are heated somehow. The staff is attentive and courteous. Location is close to trendy restaurants and shopping.

Location of hotel was good. It's one block from a major pedestrian shopping mall and you can easily walk to the river or to the square. The hotel room we got was a king and was really nice. It had a huge room and the bathroom was really nice also.
Cons: The A/C in our room didn't work. We notified reception and they sent an engineer to fix it and it worked for 36 or so hours after that and then blew warm air again. The reception staff said all the rooms A/C are bad and there was no point in moving us to another room. She said it's because the A/C units are old and the outside air is too warm to cool.

Cons: I was surprised when this hotel didn't accept my Chinese Unionpay card or even Alipay, because 'it is not a credit card'. Never had any issues with other hotels in China when using Alipay or Unionpay, booking.com has suggested Unionpay and Alipay was an option to pay. Luckily I had my international credit card for payment. Also, staff could have been more helpful with their knowledge with food options, even with my research, sometimes the options provided can be overwhelming and of course locals would know better what's best.

Pros: The hotel is located just adjacent to the Yu Garden, ah historic and picturesque neighborhood the recalls the Shanghai of yesteryear. It is fascinating to walk through the little lanes and see the ancient buildings. The Yu Garden is a real gem as well.
The hotel is located just above the Yu Garden subway station and could not be more convenient for getting around the city.
The hotel is clean and modern. The staff was wonderful. The executive lounge had great food and a terrific view. Our room was large and comfortable.
All in all this is my favorite hotel in Shanghai.

One thing I noticed about mainland Chinese is that that they do not give details but only a generalized answers. The more experienced staff are okay. But the newer staff should be told to be more specific because world travelers are not stupid. The details are what tourists want.
Also, give the young female staff encouragements rather than criticisms. And have the experienced staff, who seems to be mostly males, to give the female staff a chance to help tourists - so don't take over but assist on the side.

Cons: (1) Initially I booked 6 rooms for 4 nights then due to other hotels offered inclusive breakfast, so I cancelled it and try re-book other hotel, suddenly hotel sent me an invitation to re-book the room will offer breakfast with the same price, but when we check in that time, the counter said it was only 1 breakfast offered, the other person need to pay for the breakfast at RMB 195 ++ per person. What a shame for a 5 stars hotel being so mean especially we booked so many rooms for so many nights. (2) Just be careful with their words when they offering you some thing. (3) Swimming pool is a bit small. (4) Lobby at level 4. Not ground floor.

Pros: The hotel is located just adjacent to the Yu Garden, ah historic and picturesque neighborhood the recalls the Shanghai of yesteryear. It is fascinating to walk through the little lanes and see the ancient buildings. The Yu Garden is a real gem as well.
The hotel is located just above the Yu Garden subway station and could not be more convenient for getting around the city.
The hotel is clean and modern. The staff was wonderful. The executive lounge had great food and a terrific view. Our room was large and comfortable.
All in all this is my favorite hotel in Shanghai.
Cons: The mattress in our room needed to be replaced--it was a bit lumpy.

Cons: The 3rd floor restaurant was tired looking, and the food was ok but nothing special. I regretted it almost the minute I sat down and saw the tattered menu. The breakfast was over priced for what was served.

The window could not be open as it faced the dirty ceiling (!) of the third floor due to the awful shape of the hotel building. We were advised not to open the window by the cleaner as mosquitoes would come into the room. (It is in Mid of November!) The breakfast was simple and repeated. I could not image how the hotel was rated 5 star. The standard of the hotel is actually as low as 3 star.

The subway station is 2 blocks away, quite convenient.

Cons: There was nothing that I disliked about my stay. The atmosphere and service were of high quality and the staff was very professional and friendly. I stayed with my girlfriend who is a native Chinese speaker, but non-Chinese speakers will have no problem communicating with the hotel staff.
