Great Shanghai location, affordable luxury
Convieient access to #10 metro line. A few hundred meters from Yu Garden. Great fitness center and pool on top floor. Great service, especially in executive lounge. Extensive international selections for breakfast, high tea evening and late desserts seven days a week. Long breakfast hours.
Bathrooms showed a bit of discoloration in grout and caulking.
Polite staff but more training required to help sightseeing tourists

It appears that more female staff are recently hired, which is great. More materials need to be provided to them to help them know what tourists generally ask about. One thing I noticed about mainland Chinese is that that they do not give details but only a generalized answers. The more experienced staff are okay. But the newer staff should be told to be more specific because world travelers are not stupid. The details are what tourists want. Also, give the young female staff encouragements rather than criticisms. And have the experienced staff, who seems to be mostly males, to give the female staff a chance to help tourists - so don't take over but assist on the side.
Great Place to Stay in Shanghai
The hotel is located just adjacent to the Yu Garden, ah historic and picturesque neighborhood the recalls the Shanghai of yesteryear. It is fascinating to walk through the little lanes and see the ancient buildings. The Yu Garden is a real gem as well. The hotel is located just above the Yu Garden subway station and could not be more convenient for getting around the city. The hotel is clean and modern. The staff was wonderful. The executive lounge had great food and a terrific view. Our room was large and comfortable. All in all this is my favorite hotel in Shanghai.
The mattress in our room needed to be replaced--it was a bit lumpy.
Very spacious room, huge comfy bed & free standing bath. Great view of the city. The rooftop bar was excellent and the location was good for sightseeing. Room was surprisingly quiet for location- and I am a light sleeper. Would definately stay here again.
The 3rd floor restaurant was tired looking, and the food was ok but nothing special. I regretted it almost the minute I sat down and saw the tattered menu. The breakfast was over priced for what was served.
