The 10 best hotels in Orange Beach

Discover the top hotels in Orange Beach handpicked by local expert Kathleen Donnelly.
Kate Donnelly
6 December 2023

Greetings from Orange Beach, where 32-miles of pristine white-sand Gulf coastline dovetails with legendary Southern hospitality. Here you’ll find grand nature preserves and state parks, including the vast hiking trails of Gulf State Park and Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. You’ll also find excellent public beaches, championship golf, water adventure parks, fresh seafood eateries and of course, waterfront hotels known for showcasing golden-hued Alabama sunsets. In fact, the Gulf waters are the main draw at Orange Beach, and from adventure to simple relaxation, there’s surely something for everyone. So, grab your SPF and beach towel and gear up for fun in the sun. Although I don't have a permanent residence in Orange Beach, I visit often enough to have a clear view of the hotel scene, so I prepared a list of the best hotels in Orange Beach.

1.

Perdido Beach Resort

Address:

27200 Perdido Beach Boulevard

Price:

R161-603/night

Set on a lovely stretch of white sand, the tall towers of this friendly beachfront hotel feature 344-rooms, including spacious suites and club-level accommodations, each outfitted with calming oceanic blue-and-white colors.
Additionally, club-level stays include a complimentary breakfast and come evening, elevated cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres. Perhaps you’ll rest in your living room, or enjoy a meal in your airy-chic dining area. Thanks to private balconies affording spectacular views of the clear Gulf waters below, it’s hard to peel away from your room.
Should you need a stretch, the resort offers Saturday morning yoga with water views on Paradise Point. Or maybe you’d prefer lounging by the pool with grilled burgers and cocktails at the Splash Bar & Grille. Later, the elegant eatery Voyagers serves up fresh seafood, hand-cut steaks, and some of the best pizza on the island.

2.

Comfort Inn & Suites Gulf Shores East Beach near Gulf State Park

Address:

536 East Beach Boulevard

Price:

R108-297/night

Situated on Beach Boulevard near East Beach, drop your bags at this affordable but top-rated hotel in Orange Beach. Inside its 100 rooms, you’ll find all the modern-day fixings: mini-refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and large flat screen TVs – an entertaining companion after a day in the Alabama sun.
A handful of rooms offer balconies for shore-gazing. In the mornings, fuel up with a healthy complimentary breakfast before you set out. Later, gather in the shared lounge or the cheery lobby, fitted out with turquoise furniture. Up your heart rate in the fitness center or opt for a swim at the pool (a lovely sun terrace promises ample vitamin D).
You can visit nearby local attractions like the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, get soaked in an adventure at Waterville USA, or tee off at Pirate Island Adventure Golf.

3.

Best Western Premier The Tides

Address:

26032 Perdido Beach Boulevard

Price:

R107-596/night

Smack in the heart of the city, this easygoing boutique hotel in Orange Beach features a spread of 86 bright-and-cheery rooms equipped with private balconies overlooking the sandy Gulf shoreline. Alternatively, a spacious fourth-floor lobby lets you soak in the water views with your friends.
Of course, there are amenities galore: a grab-and-go deli for munchies and two bars for sipping a refreshing cocktail. In the afternoons, a beachfront pool deck is a fun place to hang out, while in the evenings, sociable guests are known to gather around the fire pit.
Sure, you’re staying at a hotel, but here it feels like you’re staying at a friend’s beach house (just make certain you’re traveling with folks you like).
Later, nab one of the hotel’s beach cruisers and pedal around on a sunset ride, or eat dinner at one of the nearby seafood-forward eateries like the popular Gibley’s.

4.
