Pros: Appartment, Shopping Mall

Pros: It is an apartment hotel with all facilities, like small kitchen and washing machine. The breakfast is good with both Chinese food and European food. The food quality is good. The location is perfect near several big shopping malls. It is easy to search for good Chinese restaurants.

Cons: The Smell in the room is not good, it smells like formaldehyde.

Pros: I stayed in the studio apartment and the room was simply amazing! It has so many facilities (even a washing mashine) and the bed is super comfortable! The bathroom is huge and everything is very clean! It also has a great balcony for those, who like me, enjoy it. Breakfast in general is ok. Not amazing but it has a decent mix of eastern and western food. About the location, it is pretty decent with lots of restaurants close by. Subway around 1km walking from the hotel and also bus stops even nearer. The staff some is friendly some isn't. But I guess the language barrier has a lot to do with that. If I get back to Suzhou, I'm definitely gonna consider the Somerset for my accommodation.

Cons: The staff's English was not so good and they seemed a little lost with my reservation. They didn't know I had breakfast included. I also had to leave a 600RMB deposit which I really disliked, even though I got it back and in the breakfast I really had a hard time with the baguette. I was crazy to eat some but it was hard like a rock, impossible to even cut it.

Pros: Bed quite comfortable (just a little too soft for my preference). Having a washer/dryer is a nice plus. Shower water is quite hot (but pressure is very low!). The Emerald City mall it's in (and the adjacent IF Mall, which takes up the other half of the block) has lots of good food outlets, including some international chains like the Bifengtang Hong Kong restaurant and the Japanese Ajisen Ramen, as well as Western standbys like Papa John's Pizza, Subway, Starbucks and KFC (and Burger King and McDonald's next to the subway station). Each mall also has a decent supermarket in the basement (the one in the IF Mall near the subway is much better).

Cons: VERY hard to find!! (It's in the middle of a huge mall complex that takes up half of a city block.) 'Apartment' very small - actually somewhat misrepresented in the listing: significantly smaller, I think, than the advertised 52 sq m, even if you included the unusable 'balcony' space outside. The bedroom actually feels pretty claustrophobic, with hardly any room to move around the bed. No outside furniture for the balcony (and no inside furniture suitable to move out there); staff simply refused to try to obtain any (even though there were, for example, plenty of suitable chairs & tables in front of the building, not much used); balcony itself very shabby, hadn't been cleaned for ages (possibly ever), and covered with very worn green felt. TV very small, and bizarrely hidden inside a wardrobe in the bedroom; impractical to move it into the more suitable 'living room' area next door; only a handful of channels in English. Poor furniture: no proper desk chair for the desk (only an upholstered upright chair, far too low and too soft to be used for working); no armchair (only a very small and very low sofa); no dining furniture; the two small tables are too HEAVY to be moved anywhere. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE (in English, at any rate): they do not reply to e-mail enquiries (request for directions to the property, request for slightly early check-in, etc.). AWFUL desk staff: inept, rude, unhelpful, and with fairly limited English (the one in charge appeared to speak no English at all) - this is amongst the worst hotel service I have ever encountered in China, even going back 10 or 15 years; I expected much better from the Ascott chain. Noise from A/C fans and nearby main road slightly bothersome at night. Gaps at the top of the blackout curtains allow in a lot of light early in the morning, making it difficult to sleep in very late.

Pros: Everything was perfect! Our room was really nice and quiet. The staff speaks very good English. The buffet breakfast is really good. The nearest metro station is only 10 min. from the hotel. A lot of places to eat around.

Cons: The first day it was a little bit difficult to find the hotel because is in the middle of a mall called “Emerald city” but once we found it then it was really pleasent to walk around.

Pros: Breakfast is pretty good and hotel is very comfortable, we really like this hotel and will keep choose. Thank you so much.

Pros: The Somerset Emerald City hotel is part of the Emerald City shopping mall. An old 10-15 years buiding There are lots of shop selling Chinese food (fast food type restaurants). Go behind the Hotel, turn left to leave the Emerald City shops toward the IFC Mall. There is one very good restaurant at affordable prices at the corner facing the main 6 lane highway. Fresh live fish is good there, at a reasonable price

Cons: The high floor hotel window overlooked a flat roof top below that was littered with building and discarded rubbish. The "studio room" is only for those poverty-stricken. It is enclosed almost by the building walls like a air-well condition. The on going renovations works in the hotel upper floors are irritating. The experience was so bad that this would be the first and last time we will go to a "Somerset " group hotels. The breakfast was poor . The place is tired. The price was exorbitant. So be warned

Pros: Self contained apartment met every need. Ideally situated to the Mall and public transport.

Pros: The room was so comfortable, modern and the beds were very convenient. The hotel looks like much more luxurious for its category. It is very near to the subway station. I strongly recommend this place to stay.

Cons: The breakfast area is crowded and very close for so many people.

Pros: The bed was very comfy and the room was cosy and well-furnished. The view from the window was nice.

Cons: It was a bit too hot in the room and the air-conditioning was set to a fixed temperature. The only way to deal with the problem was to completely turn-off the AC with the help of staff or/and open the windows. The staff was very helpful though.

Pros: This was the only accommodation that has bidet amongst all during our holiday in China. A stone's throw to Golden Eagle shopping centre. We had a night stroll to the Regalia Service Residence after dinner at Golden Eagle.

Cons: There should be 2 toilets for a 2 bedroom residence. Limited choice for breakfast.

Pros: Large apartment with 2 bedrooms (inc. comfy beds). Public Transport: Bus Stop (right outside), Subway (5 mins walk, though need another 5 mins to walk underground to the station). Shopping malls 5/10 mins walk in both directions.

Cons: Property is starting to look old and could do with a refurbishment in the next few years.

Pros: I liked the size and comfort of the apartment and the little details that provide for practical daily life in an apartment hotel. There was a little bag of laundry detergent on the washing machine. The kitchen had everything needed to cook and dine for a maximum of four. It was clean, quite and comfortable. Not luxurious, but practical

Cons: The building was a little run down from the outside. Staff was not confident speaking English. Although on the phone they sounded great.

Pros: Very clean and comfortable apartment to stay in for a few days. worthy the money. very close to the subway station but not so close to any of the sightseeing spot.
