Asked us for a $30k deposit for a used Grand Caravan....LOL. ClownsCons:Ya, you read that right, $30k deposit. Not in midst of arguing about something else but as part of a welcome, here is your car and this is the deposit requirement. They also require about $100 per day in local insurance. These guys are clowns. Cars looked old and beat up. Location is 4 to 6 miles away from airport, down some industrial road. Good luck trying to get a taxi to take you elsewhere. No taxis and no phone number to call for a taxi. Also, no one answers at EZ cust service. Getting trapped is an understatement. Stay away from EZ. Go with a reputable company like Enterprise, Avis, National, etc.Reviewed Dec 9 2018

NOT in terminal... Beater carPros:The drop off went surprisingly smooth.Cons:We chose this rental company because of price and because they advertised as "in terminal." Not true. After a long flight we had no idea where to find the rental place and spent an hour looking for a shuttle, not a rental window in the airport. Then we spent another hour waiting to get our actual car. Part of the bumper was missing and it had scratches and dents all over. Pulling out we were told not to leave on the radio or air conditioning or to leave the lights on because the car would not start back up. The check engine light also came on. Don't Rent From Them in MexicoPros:Car was fine enough - see below for other problems though -I will never rent from them again.Cons:E-Z Rent-a-Car farms out contracts to subcontractors who care NOTHING about service. I arrived at the airport in Cancun and they have NO window like the other companies - Hertz, National, Avis, etc.. Evidently, E-Z's staff is just some guy wandering around outside in the hordes of people with a small sign which we didn't see until after an hour of calling a phone number that was no help. Additionally, we were told there were NO cars even though we had a reservation and they suggested I should come back the next day. Exactly how would I do that since we had no transportation and our destination would have been 3 hours away round trip plus hundreds of $$$ in taxi fare. (We were driving down to Tulum) Ridiculous. They didn't care and just shrugged. Someone on site told us the reason is because they can get a higher fare from desperate passengers arriving who did not make an earlier reservation and so they will pretend they have no cars. We finally pitched a fit and were able to get a car thankfully but only after 3 hours of negotiating. At the end of our trip, we needed to extend two days. We again called this random number provided and they said it would cost more than the entire week combined to keep it for the extra day or two!! They said they did not have to honor the E-Z contract through whom we had booked because they were a subcontractor and we agreed to pay in pesos. How is that possible and what does that mean??? We said forget it and took back the car. This company is a scam and I will never rent from them again!Reviewed Jan 7 2016

Cons:Upon our arrival to Cancun that there was no representative to meet us at the rental stand. A representative from another company told us that EZ ran out of cars. I asked if they had any cars left and how much it would cost with insurance and they said $300 USD per day! We had no choice but to get on the ADO bus to get to Playa Del Carmen and take collectivo to Tulum from there. Luckily I've done that ride before and knew how easy it would be (cost under $20 per person for both bus and collectivo). I wish EZ had the courtesy of at least emailing us to tell us they didn't have any cars. at the end we spent on taxis way less than it would cost us to rent a car at $300 per day for a week.Reviewed Jan 12 2016

Cons:Had to do a $10,000 deposit for the car because I had my own insurance. That's just too much and maxed out my credit card. This is not 5 minutes from airport like advertised. Consider 15 minutes transportation from airport to pick up location. Car provided was old. Mosquitoes were eating us alive at pick up location. IMPORTANT, DEFINITELY NOT LOCATED AT TERMINAL!Pros:Only positive was that they spoke English and returning the car wasn't as difficult as picking it up! Oh just remembered they have wifi at the Rental location.Cons:First things first, as the title mentions, they are NOT located at the terminal. Asked around and no one could help locate them. Then apparently was trapped by one of the many Vendors at the airport "trying" to help and instead started talking about buying or visiting their resort and what not. They wasted 20min of ours cause they are OVERLY persistent and would not let us go. Then finally he kinda guided us to where "EZ Car Rental" would be. Went outside no one and no location of them could be found. Finally found someone who actually worked at the Airport and they sent us the opposite way. So after a total of 45min wasted outside the airport, someone finally guided us to where apparently a Rep for EZ Car Rental / America Car Rental was standing. Such a hassle and a horrible inconvenient time. So after finding the guy, he called a Shuttle for us, there was another family waiting with 2 kids, who knows for how long. Anyways, finally get to the Car Rental location 15min away from the Airport. Of course there was a wait there, and 5 people ahead of us when we got there. So when it's our turn the guy directs us to America Car Rental and apparently they're one company or something with EZ. To my surprise I had to buy insurance from them which was another $100 for the 5 days total. I'm not sure if they charged us the right price or not but anyways we had no other choice. So then we waited for the car and after another 30min they bring out a car that's pretty much banged up and dented all over. I'm not sure if they're trying to claim insurance on it twice or what, but it was in horrible condition nonetheless. My mom was quite upset at this point and and told them we need a different car. So after another 30min, yes you do the math on how long we have had to wait now, but yes we finally get a brand new car, only negative was that there were no plates on it. So the Rep told us the police might stop us but just show them the paperwork and it should be okay. Want to point out, luckily we weren't stopped. So it was quite a horrible way to start the vacation, not to mention when you come out of customs there is no food place inside, and since we didn't expect all this was going to happen, we were starving!Reviewed Jan 4 2016

Don't UseCons:Terrible. Car died, nearly missed my flight. Want to charge me money for that not returning it on time despite the fact that the car was a lemon.
