COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 96 hours before departing to Tanzania.

Details and exceptions
Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR or NAAT test result. This requirement does not apply to travelers in transit and travelers aged 5 years and under.
Travelers arriving from or have traveled through United States, Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, France, India, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, or United Kingdom in the last 14 days must take a COVID-19 rapid test on arrival at their own expense. This requirement does not apply to travelers in transit and travelers aged 5 years and under.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa are not required to quarantine after entering Tanzania.

Details and exceptions
Travelers will be required to take a COVID-19 rapid test on arrival. If they test positive, they will be required to quarantine for 14 days or more until they test negative using a RT-PCR test.

Health Surveillance Form

Travelers are required to complete an online Health Surveillance Form a maximum of 24 hours before arrival in Tanzania. Travelers will then receive a Unique Health Code (UHC), which they will present to health officials upon arrival.

To visit Tanzania for Business or Tourism, you require a visa. An eVisa is the fastest and easiest way of obtaining a visa as you can submit an application and supporting documents online. If approved, you'll receive your eVisa confirmation electronically. When you arrive at immigration, you will be asked for your passport and eVisa to ensure you have proper documentation.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Tanzania must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Tanzania are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
