Réunion Travel Restrictions

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa will not be allowed to enter Réunion.
Vaccinated visitors from South Africa can enter Réunion with a negative COVID-19 test result.

Fully vaccinated individuals can enter Reunion. Otherwise, travelers need to have a compelling reason so they can travel to the country.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken less than 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) and less than 48 for Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to Réunion.

Details and exceptions
All travelers are required to present a negative COVID-19 test. Travelers are required to present the following:
    -A negative RT-PCR test taken 24 hours before boarding for unvaccinated travelers and;
    -A negative RT-PCR test taken 72 hours before boarding or an antigen test taken 48 hours before boarding for vaccinated travelers.
Minors who are not yet 12 years old are exempt from test requirement.
Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 7 days upon entering Réunion.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Unvaccinated travelers are required to isolate for 7 days from the date of entry to Reunion.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Réunion must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Réunion are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
