Foreign nationals who wish to travel to Myanmar by relief or special flights due to urgent official missions or compelling reasons, are asked to contact Myanmar mission for possible exception to certain visa restrictions.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Myanmar.

Details and exceptions
Aside from presenting a negative PCR Test, all travelers who are granted permission to enter Myanmar will undergo a temperature check upon arrival.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 7 days upon entering Myanmar.

Complete 7 days home quarantine prior to the date of travel. Complete 7 days quarantine in a government facility or government approved hotel on arrival in Myanmar (allocated on arrival). Undertake a COVID-19 test after 7 days (at own expense). If the test is negative, complete another 7 days of home quarantine.
Travelers are tested for COVID-19 on days 3 and 7 of the quarantine period. They must cover the costs of the PCR tests themselves. Anyone with a positive result will be isolated and taken to a health facility.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Myanmar must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Myanmar are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
