Mauritius entry details and exceptions

Travelers who are vaccinated and unvaccinated must pre-book a safe hotel and a quarantine hotel, respectively.

Traveler's booking, filled out health form and a negative PCR test result must be presented prior to boarding.

Travelers who live in South Africa or Brazil or those who stayed in the said countries within the last 15 days, are not allowed to enter Mauritius.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken between 120 and 168 hours before departing to Mauritius.

Details and exceptions

All travelers, including children, vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to present a negative PCR test result taken between 3 and 7 days prior to boarding.

Fully vaccinated individuals will be tested on the 7th and 14th day while unvaccinated individuals will be tested upon arrival, on the 7th day and on the 14th day.

Fully vaccinated individual is recognized if the final dose of vaccine has been administered 14 days, and single dose-vaccine has been administered 28 days before traveling to Mauritius.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Mauritius.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated individuals are required to stay in a designated quarantine facility for 14 days.

After 7 days of quarantine, vaccinated travelers can get a test. If the PCR test is negative, travelers do not need to quarantine further.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Mauritius must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions

traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Mauritius are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
