COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) and 48 Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to French Polynesia.

Details and exceptions
Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken a maximum of 72 hours before departure or an antigen test taken a maximum of 48 hours before departure. Travelers under the age of 12 are exempted from this requirement.
Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 RT-PCR test at the airport on arrival, at their own expense. This requirement does not apply to travelers under the age of 6.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering French Polynesia.

Details and exceptions
Travelers required to quarantine for 10 days in Tahiti. Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 RT-PCR test on days 4 and 8 after arrival, at their own expense.

Travel Registration Form

Travelers including citizens and residents arriving by air are required to register on the Polynesian Electronic Travel Information System (ETIS) no later than 6 days prior to travel and confirmation must be presented at check-in. Minors traveling with their parents can be included in their ETIS form. Travelers aged 11 years and over accompanying a vaccinated adult are exempt from declaring an overriding reason.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from French Polynesia must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from French Polynesia are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
