COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken less than 48 hours before departing to France.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated travelers arriving from Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal or United Kingdom must present a negative PCR or antigenic test taken less than 24 hours before boarding to France.

Children who are 12 years old and below are exempt from test requirement.

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering France.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated travelers with compelling reasons arriving from "Orange Countries" will be randomly tested upon arrival in France. They must pledge to self-isolate for 7 days.

Unvaccinated travelers arriving from the "Red Countries" are required to quarantine for ten (10) days.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from France must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions

traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from France are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
