Danish nationals and residents may still return to Denmark from anywhere. Travelers who are not nationals or residents can still enter Denmark with a worthy purpose.

Proof will be required to demonstrate a ‘worthy purpose’ to enter. Examples of 'worthy purposes' include work or study in Denmark, transporting goods, and various family-related reasons, for example visiting a family member or partner who is a Danish resident. COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 48 hours before departing to Denmark.

Details and exceptions

For a continuous journey, the following rules apply: If the passenger travels to Denmark on a continuous journey via stopovers at one or more airports, the test can be taken up to 24 hours before boarding at the first airport. The test must be presented in connection with the last flight that has a destination in Denmark.It does not apply to passengers aged 12 years or less.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering Denmark.

The isolation period can be shortened

Isolation may be broken after a negative test no earlier than on the 4th day after the entry.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Denmark must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions

traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Denmark are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
