Czech Republic entry details and exceptions

Fully vaccinated individuals administered with vaccines authorized by European Medicines Agency (EMA) from the countries listed here can travel to Czech Republic without any restrictions. They just need to present their vaccination certificate.

Citizens of Czech Republic; foreign nationals with residence permit issued by Czech Republic, EU+ citizens and foreign nationals with long term or permanent residence permit issued by EU+ countries can enter the country regardless of their reason. They need to check the country where they are coming from for their entry requirements.

Third-country nationals who do not have any residence permit issued by the Czech Republic or a long-term or permanent residence permit issued by other EU+ countries can only enter the country if their reason is listed in the Ministry of Health protective measure.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 for RT-PCR (NAAT) and 48 for Antigen (quick-test) hours before departing to the Czech Republic.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Children who are five (5) years old and below are exempt from test requirement.

Children between 6 to 12 years old travelling from a high or a very high risk country of COVID-19 transmission may undergo RT-PCR immediately after their arrival in the country. Self-isolation will be stopped once they have obtained a negative test result. The said age group are not required to present a negative PCR test upon arrival in Czech Republic.

Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering the Czech Republic.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Unvaccinated travelers from high, very high and extreme risk countries are required to quarantine.

On the fifth (5th) day (after arrival) of quarantine, travelers from high or very high risk countries can get a PCR or antigen tests. If the test is negative, travelers do not need to quarantine further.

Permitted travelers from extreme risk countries are required to finish their isolation period. They will need to be tested with two (2) PCR test. First test is within 24 hours after arrival and the second one will be on the tenth (10th) at the earliest.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from the Czech Republic must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions

traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from the Czech Republic are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
