Cuba entry details and exceptions

Travelers are allowed to enter Cuba by air.

Travelers are required to have valid health insurance with COVID-19 coverage. If this is not possible, then they have to buy Cuban medical insurance coverage at the airport upon arrival. This may be included with some airline tickets, so travelers should check with their airlines.

Temperature screening is required for all travelers on arrival in Cuba.

Travelers are required to present proof of complete vaccination to make reservations for tourist services.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Cuba.

Details and exceptions
Travelers must have proof of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken at an accredited testing center. Travelers will be required to take a SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR on arrival at the point of entry.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 7 days upon entering Cuba.

Details and exceptions
Travelers are required to quarantine for 7 days at a designated hotel and take a SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test on day 6. The hotel and transportation costs will be the traveler's responsibility.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Cuba must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Cuba are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
