Cayman Islands Travel Restrictions

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa will not be allowed to enter the Cayman Islands.
Vaccinated visitors from South Africa need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result and quarantine to enter the Cayman Islands.

For restrictions that apply to vaccinated visitors, please check the official guidelines from the Cayman Islands for the types of accepted and permitted COVID-19 vaccinations, requirements on proof of vaccination certificates, vaccination validity period, and persons and/or groups that may be exempt from vaccination restrictions.

Work permit holders and their families

Persons who own residential property within the Cayman Island

Students with a valid visa to study in the Cayman Islands

Persons with close family ties to residents or work permit holders - spouses, fiancés, parents, grandparents and siblings

Persons approved on the Global Citizen Concierge Program

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to the Cayman Islands.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering the Cayman Islands.

Details and exceptions
Fully vaccinated travelers who have secure verification are required to quarantine for 7 days. Travelers must take a COVID-19 PCR test on day 8 and can leave quarantine with a negative result.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from the Cayman Islands must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from the Cayman Islands are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
