9,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness, Front desk and Bellman staff were very courteous and helpful.

Cons: Room doors slammed, so it made for extra noise.
6,7 Good
Pros: Great location.
Cons: They have let this property get old. Also, some of the significant changes (closing their excellent restaurant on the fourth floor) are big losses. Paid WiFi for a $1,200/night room is adding insult to injury.

Pros: Location. Cleanliness Courteousness
10,0 Excellent
Pros: 5-star hotel all the way. Soundproof windows, excellent service, central location, and a bespoke feel.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The Holiday Décor, the 2 Restaurants, lobby door men, concierge knowledge. I do not know how many people book 5 nights, but I would have a rotation of flavors of muffins in the morning, we had same selection all 5 mornings. Hotel Breakfasts in dining room were very good. Taxi services good.
Cons: steps between 7th and 8th floor
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this hotel!!! It was in a great location, the staff was awesome. The rooms were truly unique and comfortable. I will stay here again and again! I had breakfast in the dining room and it was wonderful.
Cons: The rugs in the hallways looked like they needed to be replaced. That was really it for me.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: My room was lovely - quality furnishings, sufficient space, nice view.
Cons: I was very surprised to be charged an extra $35 for "facilities fee", including taxes. This is not a resort so I don't understand why it would charge a high "facilities fee".
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was exceptional
Cons: Nothing
8,0 Excellent
Cons: No bells and whistles. This was much more like your standard, mid-grade Marriott than a 4-star experience. No fluffy robes, slippers, turn-down service, etc.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent
Cons: Everything wonderful
5,0 Okay
Cons: There was nearly $35 in hotel fees that I wasnt aware of when I booked the room. It came as a surprise when I checked out the next morning. Apparently it was for coffee and pastry in the lobby and WiFi. I didnt want either. Waste of money.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Pros: Location Staff is wonderful Rooms are large and comfortable for San Francisco
Cons: Cons: The Bistro is awful, did not try the restaurant Weird position for shower activation, have to actually be in the shower to turn it on........BRRR. The closet is about 12" wide, so this is not the place to stay for a long time
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great!
Cons: Understand being charged for internet and coffee/muffins, but if breakfast runs until 9:30 then there should be coffee and muffins available at 9:15. I let the front desk know and waited 15 minutes to no avail.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to union square and access to the SF tram. Nice and helpful staff. Also like the environmental efforts of the hotel, e.g. offering water fountains instead of bottled water.
Cons: Could need a bit of a touch up.
7,0 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was also clean. It was also close to sights or close to the tram line which can take you to the sights. Cute little cafe next door which is great for breakfast.
Cons: The room has a rustic feel which suits San Fransisco but was not as modern as we thought it would be. The bathroom could also do with a bit of an upgrade as the shower curtains and shower head were a little dated. If all you need is a bed and bath for a short amount of time this hotel is perfect.

7,9 Good
Pros: it was very elegant
Cons: no parking
4,0 Okay
Pros: The location was good.
Cons: We had to ask for tea kettle and coffee makers. And they asked us to be in a waiting line. WTF the hotel charges so much money and they can't just put a coffee maker and tea kettle in every room. Also we had to call several times to get anything serviced. Our car took 1 hour to come out of the valet parking. We had to wait for 45 mins to get to breakfast. I understand it is crowded during New year's season but for a hotel that been around for this long they sure have not figure out efficiency.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Worst bed materiel Worst customer service
10,0 Excellent
Pros: High standard of accommodation and the main courtyard, wonderful Christmas decorations.
Cons: The air temperature in the pool and exercise area was far too low to be comfortable. The beautiful pool was a big reason we chose this hotel and we only used it once during a 7 night stay because it was uncomfortably cold.

6,0 Good
Pros: The mattress was big, comfortable and it isolated movement extremely well.
Cons: For a five-star hotel, the room was not as big as I expected and the bathroom was particularly small. The room wasn't as quiet as I expected either, as other rooms' bathrooms made loud clunking sounds that emanated through my room.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I was allergic to the laundry detergent. Didn't sleep at all. Staff compensated me with free breakfast which was nice.

Cons: I appreciate the free coffee/tea for guests from 5:30 am to 10 am but you have to go down to their restaurant. Would have been better to provide coffee and hot water makers in the room.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Great smell in the entrance lobby

9,0 Excellent
Pros: We checked in at 4am, after a very long drive. The valet and front desk staff were friendly, helpful, and got us settled in right away. They got us into a room with 2 beds, to accommodate our family of 4.
Cons: Only 2 of the 4 elevators seemed to be working, which made for slow going at peak times.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location.....close to Ferry building , restaurants, shopping......
Cons: Given an accessible room....door difficult to operate as it opens and closes loudly on its own.....does not have a bath tub..
10,0 Excellent

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was large and view was amazing. Beds were also comfortable. Valet was super friendly.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was fantastic
Cons: Would be nice if it had a bar
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I forgot my laptop on accident as I was checking out and the hotel housekeeping very kindly kept it for me. As soon as I realized, I called the hotel and spoke with Jamal, who was very kind in coordinating a solution for me. My highest compliments and deepest gratitude!
Cons: There were a couple of people who answered the phone who may have been new or uninformed as they were not able to corroborate information I received from other staff members.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Affordable (hint: book on their web site using your phone), the room and hotel overall was comfortable, modern, and clean. It's a half block from the dragons gate and lots of restaurants and stores. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was roomy with a large vanity. The TV has Chromecast and apps. There is a refrigerator in the room. There are chocolates on your pillow and a fantastic filtered water machine in the hallway of the floor. Kureg coffee machine in your room. Rooftop balcony with a view.
Cons: Nothing!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located smack in the middle of the action! It's right next to the Dragon's Gate. We had front row seats to the China Town area. A couple of blocks south and we were in Union Square. Muni bus, cable cars, and the Bart are all convenient.
Cons: I was hoping for a better work out facility. All the good food and late night dinners started taking a toll. Really needed the morning workouts. Please bring in more free weights and bands.
5,0 Okay
Pros: It was clean
Cons: I booked a room with 2 beds and when I got there I had a room with one bed and a pull out sofa bed. When I told the front desk I was told that they upgraded me. I don't think a room with 1 bed and a pull out sofa bed was an upgrade when I paid for 2 bed
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, the rooms were a nice size, and the beds were super comfy. We also loved the rooftop patio.
Cons: On the first night, there was a mixup with the kind of beds we were given (kings instead of doubles), but the staff quickly found a solution and even offered us a free breakfast for the following morning.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All good. We had everything at the reach of a walk. Next door is Dragon’s Gate (literally). Close to a lot of restaurants, transport to airport (BART), convenience stores and fancy, high-end shops...

9,0 Excellent
Pros: It was really fun hotel in a fantastic location. The staff was great
Cons: I didn't like the resort fee charged after I had already prepaid reservation. The staff showed me the small print in the agreement that said that there would be a resort fee and the fee was only $25 per room. Left me feeling ripped off.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, wonderful staff and a great bar and restaurant on site. Super comfy rooms. Always our choice in SanFrancisco.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location, large rooms, good fitness room, fun game area, stylish, nice bar

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great size room for SF and the central location is really good and you can get on the BART quickly to anywhere you'd want to go.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Our experience was unusual, because of our timing, at Christmas. But the location seemed excellent, just steps away from a BART station and shopping, and a short walk to many lovely sights. The room was stylish and comfortable with corner windows, a nice seating area, refrigerator, large bathroom, and a counter-height built-in desk which I found very useful. Staff was friendly and we really enjoyed spending time in the abundant game and recreation area, adjacent to the lobby and elevators.
Cons: Very minor ... but I would have appreciated a magnifying mirror. Their valet parking was expensive, but we found several city parking lots nearby for half the price.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: attentive fast and friendly service
Cons: the area in which it is located is not great
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed a number of times and it is always fantastic. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave the staff are friendly and efficient and care for the guests welfare. The beds and rooms are really comfy and you awake rested in a morning. The location cannot be improved upon with easy access to all the main areas of San Francisco and handy for airport access. Brilliant.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Its location and cleanliness.
Cons: No.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet room, really nice shower. I liked the ability to decline room cleaning and get a credit on the minibar. The location was perfect (attending big meeting at Moscone Center).
Cons: The Illy coffee maker in the room was very difficult to figure out how to use. Only made espresso and the pods are very wasteful. I love Illy coffee, but I would have preferred a more normal coffee maker.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has a sleek design, a great lobby, great bar. The rooms are big and comfy and equipped with a coffee machine, Alexa and a large TV. It is a great place and I have returned to it many times.

Cons: The bed needs to be better for mature guest.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Room including bathroom was quite spacious for being in an older building. Very pet friendly!

10,0 Excellent
Cons: Loved it
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service - staff were brilliant.
Cons: More choice on bar menu.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is very convenient. Newly remodeled hotel in a historic building so everything is new and clean. Has a sort of hip/rock n Roll vibe focusing on the literary world. Mostly decor/artwork of authors that espouse the virtue of drugs and communism but this is SF.
Cons: Better and more breakfast options in cafe. Hotel is not family friendly. I repeat NOT family friendly. It’s dark and heavy. Weird pillow on our bed that read Pot is Fun. Again, this is SF but these symbolisms throughout the decor are very specific and not for me.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was central to everything, staff were friendly and very helpful. Rooms were quiet and clean. The bar was perfect for evening cocktails.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the bar
Cons: ?
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is central enough and is just walking distance to all the shops. The beds are super comfortable.
Cons: I’m sure it would be even more pretty and brighter after the renovation works at the lobby is done.

Cons: They do not have slippers in the room
1,0 Poor
Cons: unprofessional and rude attitude
9,7 Excellent
Pros: The room was huge, clean, beautiful.
Cons: I would have liked some instruction on how to use the hotel Wifi
7,5 Good
Pros: Clean, location, friendly staff
Cons: Cover charges during convention are a rip off. No slippers in room Internet cost is far too high (23usd)
7,0 Good
Cons: The location is amazing of course. But the room was not great. The bathroom had very little counter space or storage (despite being large) and the water pressure was totally unacceptable. I've lived in California my whole life and completely understand a drought, but it was honestly, *barely* spitting on you. The temperature knob was so slow to react that it took 5 minutes to adjust from scalding hot to freezing cold and by that time I just gave up. This is coming from someone who never write reviews... For $600 / night, you expect not to suffer through a shower.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Service

Pros: grand old hotel, with wonderfully decorated lobby. nice large rooms.
Cons: rooms are a a bit Spartan. room was not ready or fully cleaned on arrival. long waits for valet parking. prices are very high

Pros: This is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Ever since I was a kid, my parents would always drive by the Fairmont and tell us what a fancy hotel it was. On this visit, my wife and I stayed over for my 48th birthday. What a beautiful place.
Cons: Yes, I did not like the fact that it is at the top of the hill at California and Mason. If you're anywhere near Union Square and on foot, you have to walk up a severely steep hill.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The hotel restaurant could not clear tables from previous guests and you could only be served the buffet. The other restaurant was closed.

Pros: Fantastic location with exceptional service. The inclusions in the lounge increased the value as I didn’t have to pay extra for meals unless I chose to eat out.
Cons: The only improvement I’d recommend is a pillow menu that includes high firm pillows as I struggled a tiny bit with the overly soft flat pillows. But otherwise, fantastic property

Overview Reviews
Timeless yet modern, The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square has been offering guests a warm welcome and an enriching, restorative stay since opening on March 21, 1904. With its turn-of-the-20th-century European style, our hotel in downtown San Francisco blends the elegance of oak-paneled restaurants and the stately grandeur of the lobby with a $45 million reinvention of the Landmark Building guest rooms, ushering in a new chapter for this storied destination. At this standout among San Francisco hotels on Union Square, you can host events in venues and ballrooms where the finest big bands once played. Recharge in elegant rooms, many featuring chandeliers and marble bathrooms, with modern touches like Heavenly® Beds and Enseo Smart TV systems. As the only hotel on Union Square, SF, it is close to the Financial District and Moscone Convention Center, and with cable cars just outside our front doors, we are at the intersection of the glorious past and vibrant present of San Francisco.

Pros: Centrally located and excellent service
Cons: I was also charged by the Hotel for the night. I called and they said I'd get reimbursed in 5-7 business days. Its frustrating but I hope it is resolved quickly without any issues

Pros: The Westin St Francis is centrally located on Union Square. It is a high end hotel and is priced accordingly. The reception team and concierge service were very helpful.
Cons: Couldn’t fault the hotel, we will happily return.

Pros: The location was perfect near the Curron Theatre! Also, across all the shopping stores
Cons: The beds could've been more comfortable and maybe two queens instead of full size, the rooms are big enough.

Pros: Great Value and Service !
7,4 Good
Pros: directly across the street from Union Square, so it’s perfectly walkable
Cons: Parking was atrocious. It took two hours to actually approach the parking garage bc of a traffic logjam, and we never got to actually park our car safely at the hotel. We had to find a random garage a few blocks away. Best bet is to drop your car off very early, or well after check-in time.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It's history and location made it our runaway first choice. It lived up to its 5 star reputation starting with check in.
Cons: It's an old building; you come up steps to get to the front door. A modern building would have a ramp. But, a ramp would ruin the looks. So you put up with a cumber some handling of your luggage.

Overview Reviews
With a name like the Argonaut, it's impossible not to speak of this hotel in grand, almost legendary terms. Inspired by the Greek legend and Gold Rush-era adventurers, it's one of those rare places in San Francisco that truly merits a term like iconic. Located in the historic Haslett Warehouse, the Argonaut's home is a grand building built in 1907 of exposed brick, Douglas Fir beams and so much seaside character; you feel as though you can almost reach out and touch the colorful Barbary Coast past here. Our boutique hotel is also celebrated for an unsurpassed level of 4-Diamond service and amenities that provide an unforgettable destination experience. Couple that with a positively perfect location at San Francisco's most famous address: perched on the edge of the Bay at Fisherman's Wharf, and it’s easy to see why the hotel is so coveted. A recipient of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award for five years running.

Pros: This hotel is a beautiful hotel and a great location for exploring San Francisco. The family room was a great size, plenty of space for luggage.
Cons: Asked to pay $50 extra to book into the room early even though our room was ready and it was only 20 mins till checkin time. A bit of a joke and the receptionist was very rude when I said no thank you. Also the sofa bed in the family room which is the only bed for the kids was extremely uncomfortable also a joke given the price we paid. Two interconnected rooms would have been better.

Pros: The free bike rental made the visit worth it, got to ride to the golden gate bridge
Cons: Didn't like how an employee open my room to check invintory on the mini fridge with out knocking as soon i got there, should have done that before i checked in, unprofessional, and felt like invasion of privacy

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff great location
Cons: Charging $30 for internet in the room is ridiculous! It should be free and this is a big negative for me. It indicates a gotcha mentality since everyone needs or at least wants internet and most places provide it at no charge.

Pros: The hotel was alright but the last day qhen we were checking out they issued a wrong check, asking js to pay over 200 dollars extra when the right one ended up being 70 dollars. We complaint to the guy and after asking about every single thing that they were charging us he ended up issuing a new check. Everyone can have a mistake when issuing a check but the guy did not even know ehat they were charging us for but still trying to make us pay that huge ammount of money. I also contacted them before going to the hotel letring them knowthat we would be leaving the hotel one day early to see if they could do anything about it but they did not even reply and when I told them personally when I get there they did not even bother giving me an answer for what I was saying
6,8 Good
Pros: Nice hotel in general
Cons: The check in was one our delayed and the people in the front desk were not very servicial. Since it’s in the top part of the city, walking with kids or senior people is complicated. Breakfast options are not really option, it forces you to buy the full buffet.

Pros: Sheets were clean. WiFi signal strong.
Cons: Heat in room was broken so I was freezing until 11 pm+ which is 2 AM in my time zone so I was so tired. And there was a rattling sound in the vent which made sleep impossible. I called front desk and technician finally arrive 20 min+ later. He fixed it thank goodness but really? They should have comped a breakfast or something. Front desk service is not up to par w other Hyatt hotels; staff are not really concerned with your comfort and satisfaction but have that “clock in, clock out” attitude

Pros: Location is the best one.
Cons: The staff wasn't pleasant. There is traffic for elevators, you should wait 5-10 min. The room was old, bathroom is small. Homeless guy was sleeping just on the 3rd floor in front of the elevators. Homeless people screamed every morning on Market Str.

Pros: This is a great place to stay I love it. Thank you.
7,0 Good
Pros: The view from the hotel! We upgraded to the union square view and were on the 26th floor. It was a great sight on the new year's eve! There are decent in-room dining options and you can self collect the food to avoid delivery charge. The location of the property is great and you can either use hop-on, hop-off shuttle to all touristy sites or can simply uber to everywhere.
Cons: Parking was very confusing. When we were at the hotel, the concierge guided us to where we could park at a garage closeby. The hotel could have sent this information in advance. Also we were with a little kid so dragging the luggage to the hotel from the parking lot was quite difficult. No assistance was offered by the concierge to help with the luggage and they simply couldn't be bothered. This hotel is effectively a factory due to the location and therefore help is not a commodity that comes cheap! The elevators are another story. Believe it or not but there are queues for access to the elevators and it does take a while sometimes to get your turn. Please plan (sounds funny I know) your departure factoring the elevator time.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and we had a wonderful view overlooking the San Francisco skyline. I also like the fitness center and the location is awesome close to great restaurants and shops
Cons: The bed was not very comfortable and difficulty sleeping. The mattress needed to be firmer. Waiting for the elevators can take a long time, perhaps because we were there during Christmas and there were a big number of families staying at the hotel plus it was hosting a group of collegiate football players for an upcoming big game.
7,0 Good
Pros: Newly refurbished rooms.
Cons: The doors between rooms are acoustically transparent. The walls are also thin between rooms. I had to call security twice because of noisy neighbors. This seems to be such a recurring problem that the hotel provides earplugs next to the bed.
7,1 Good
Pros: The location is good.
Cons: We left the room at 3 for sight viewing and they didn’t even clean up the room. The cleaning service is very bad and we felt very itchy on our skin after the stay in this hotel...

Cons: Unfriendly staff, room not worth the price

Cons: The room facing the bay get noisy at night. The bed frame on my side made a noise like it was lose or broken. Even though the check out time is a 12, the cleaning staff make you feel rushed even with the do not disturb sign. We got a knock at 8am.

Pros: Great location near Fisherman's Wharf, Giradelli Square and a number of other attractions. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was quite good for a Holiday Inn.
Cons: Not a fault of the hotel, but there is now a $20 Wharf District Amenity Fee on top of the normally high city and tourism tax.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were spacious and clean. In a great spot to explore Fisherman’s wharf. Staff were friendly and accommodating at check in when the room we booked was not available.
Cons: We had booked a family suite which was not available when we arrived, we did end up with two separate rooms which were side by side but it does affect the holiday at the end of the night when the family is split.
