COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Qatar.

Details and exceptions
All travelers must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result. The test must be taken from an accredited COVID-19 testing center a maximum of 72 hours before arrival in Qatar. This requirement does not apply to fully vaccinated citizens of Qatar, GCC citizens, and residents of Qatar, with a vaccine approved by the Ministry of Public Health.
Quarantine requirements

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 7 days upon entering Qatar.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

The isolation period can be shortened
Travelers must take a COVID-19 test on day 6 of quarantine and end quarantine with a negative result.
Details and exceptions
Travelers who are not fully vaccinated must quarantine at a hotel for 7 days on arrival and at their own cost. Travelers must take a COVID-19 test on day 6 of quarantine and end quarantine with a negative result. Those who test positive must continue quarantine at government isolation facilities.
This requirement is different for travelers with proof of being fully vaccinated by a vaccine approved by the Ministry of Public Health of Qatar and 14 days have passed since they received the 2nd dose, Citizens of Qatar, GCC citizens, and residents of Qatar, Holders of Category B visas and first-degree relatives.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Qatar must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Qatar are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
