COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Nigeria.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are required to upload COVID-19 PCR negative results to the national payment portal. Travelers under the age of 10 are exmpted from this requirement.

Travelers from Brazil, South Africa or Turkey must undergo a COVID-19 test a maximum of 24 hours after arrival.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 7 days upon entering Nigeria.

Details and exceptions

Travelers from Brazil, South Africa, or Turkey are required to quarantine at a government-approved facility for 7 days on arrival. Travelers must take a COVID-19 PCR test on day 7 of quarantine.

Travelers are required to register on the travel portal and fill in the online Health Declaration form.Travelers are required to upload their negative COVID-19 PCR test to the national payment portal and bring along an electronic or hard copy of the result. An Access Report containing a QR Code will be sent to the email address provided by the Passenger. Print out or download an electronic copy of this Access Report for presentation before boarding.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Nigeria must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions

traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Nigeria are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
