Israel entry details and exceptions

Qualified vaccinated foreign nationals can enter Israel through Ben Gurion Airport under the following conditions:

    - If they had not been to a red-listed country for the 14 days before entering Israel; and
    - If they have been vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) or if their recovery is in accordance with the procedure required in Israel.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Israel.

Details and exceptions
All travelers, including vaccinated individuals, are required to present a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to departure to Israel.
Travelers who stayed outside of Israel less than 72 hours and those who recovered from COVID-19 in three months beforehand and no less than 11 days are exempt from presenting a pre-departure test.
All travelers will be required to take a PCR test once they have arrived at the airport.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Israel.

Unvaccinated travelers (regardless of where they come from) and travelers (including vaccinated or individuals who recovered from COVID-19 ) arriving from red countries are required to complete the full isolation period which is 14 days. The isolation period can be reduced if two (2) negative PCR tests are provided: The testing on arrival is considered as the first test and the second can be done on the seventh (7th) day of isolation.
Vaccinated individuals or individuals who recovered from COVID-19 who carry a Ministry of Health-issued COVID certificate and who did not stay in a red destination in the past two weeks before entry to Israel can have the reduced isolation of Israel wherein isolation will only last for 24 hours or upon receiving a negative PCR test result on arrival (whichever is earlier).

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Israel must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Israel are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
