Exceptions may apply to:

    Finnish nationals and their family members
    nationals of EU and Schengen countries residing in Finland and their family members
    third-country nationals residing in Finland with a residence permit
    UK citizens and their family members residing in Finland who the Withdrawal Agreement applies to

Travelers arriving from within the EU or a Schengen Member State may enter Finland if they are traveling for work or study in Finland. Healthcare professionals, transport personnel, diplomats, humanitarian aid workers, military personnel, travelers entering for imperative family reasons, and workers who commute to another country daily may also enter the country. COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Finland.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions

Fully vaccinated travelers and those who recovered from Covid-19 are exempted by presenting their approved vaccination and recovery certificates.

Travelers arriving from countries highly affected by the virus at the time of travel, are subject to take a COVID-19 test upon their arrival.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa are not required to quarantine after entering Finland.

A 14-day period of self-isolation is recommended for travelers arriving in Finland from high-incidence countries.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Finland must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions

traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Finland are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Fully vaccinated visitors with approved vaccination certificates do not need to quarantine.

Details and exceptions

Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
