COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from South Africa must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Ecuador.

Details and exceptions
Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before boarding their flight to Ecuador. This requirement does not apply to travelers under the age of 2.
Travelers who present symptoms of COVID-19 may be required to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen testing. If the rapid antigen test is positive, the traveler must isolate for 10 days. The isolation may take place at a private residency or hotel of the traveler’s choosing. If the rapid antigen test is negative, no isolation is required.
Travelers going to the Galapagos Islands must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before boarding their flight to the Galapagos Islands. This requirement does not apply to travelers under the age of 2.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from South Africa are not required to quarantine after entering Ecuador.

Details and exceptions
Asymptomatic travelers who do not have a travel history in India before arriving in Ecuador, are not required to quarantine on arrival.

Travelers are required to complete a health declaration form before departure to Ecuador. The form will also be provided by the airline.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travellers returning from Ecuador must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to South Africa.

Details and exceptions
traveler with no proof of a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to do an antigen test on arrival at his or her own cost and if positive for COVID-19, he or she will be required to isolate at their own cost, for a period of 10 days.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Ecuador are not required to quarantine upon entering South Africa.

Details and exceptions
Travelers who display any COVID-19–related symptoms must be tested on arrival. In the event that the result of the COVID-19 test is positive, they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. The cost of testing and quarantine will be on the travelers' expense.
