There was no "gift shop" or "emergency supplies" offered at the hotel (you do tend to forget a toothbrush). For the price, I would have rather paid $10 more and stayed at a nicer hotel & I will do so the next time around.

Island Time Tours, booking right there in the Grand Pacific, took us to Butchart Gardens and picked us up again at our requested time. What a very nice arrangement.
When it was time to leave Victoria, we chose the Victoria Airport YYJ Shuttle as more economical than a taxi. The Shuttle arrived at the front door and delivered us to the airport comfortably and in good time.
We were happy in every way with our four nights at the Grand Pacific and would gladly stay there again.

I loved that the hotel upgraded me to a view room (for only a small cost) and didn't make me feel like a complainer because I was disappointed initially to not have a window to the ocean. The pool was wonderful and I would love to bring my daughters and their babies to enjoy the luxury and friendliness of this hotel.

Pros: The ocean view, the friendly and helpful staff at the reception desk, the proximity to the Fisherman's Wharf (we discovered it during this stay and found it fascinating and fun...), the proximity to the harbor pathway behind the hotel, the secure underground parking for a reasonable fee, the many brochures and travel information availbale at our fingertip and a map of the city and nearby tourist attractions avaliable for us in our room's guest information book. The aromatherapy soaps and lotions as well as the provided housecoat were a nice touch and added to our feeling of being pampered.

Cons: The front desk staff was not rude, but just felt a little dismissive. The concierge is absolutely the wrong guy for the job. Again, not rude, but never smiled in our two interactions with him. He had trouble finding a city map for us. When we asked if the free shuttle could take us to a location, he just said no, but failed to help us try to find out how to get there. Just not the right guy for a job like that.

Cons: Worst: nearly all the pillows smelled of old sweat. We finally requested and received new, unused pillows. Avoiding dry cleaning pillows is not a good cost-cutting measure! Also, waited one hour for breakfast, after two complaints, received it with the explanation that here were "problems in the kitchen." To their credit, the restaurant wait staff seemed embarrassed and comped the breakfast. Another morning we decided to skip the menu and do the $17 buffet, which was MUCH worse that the free buffets you get at budget hotels.

Pros:
Cons: Reserved a room with a king bed. We were traveling from Seattle via the clipper that couldn't sail due to the marine forecast. Once we realized our trip was going to take 7 hours via buss to reach the hotel, I called to notify that we would be arriving late and was assured my room would be ready and that we would have a king bed, not 2 doubles.
We arrived at the hotel and no king beds were available. But then the representative said I could upgrade for $40 more per night and beaten down by the 7 hour trip I agreed to pay the fee.
Then we get the bill and it was $60 + $4.85 PST + $1.21 MRDT + $3.03 GST. I understand that the taxes are what the are but should have been quoted them and the hotel should have honored the quote made on arrival.
I was offered $10 per night discount by the manager but still feel mislead. As a Marriott rewards customer for years and one who has stayed at Marriott properties all over the world, I will not be returning to this property.
The maid service was also poor. The room was not vacuumed nor were the sheets ever changed on our 3 night stay. Additionally when we arrived there was left over spoiled food in the fridge.
Lastly they did not replace plates and silverware in the kitchenette and when we came back to the room with takeout, we had to eat out of plastic containers.
I do not recommend this property. If you are accustom to Marriott service and hospitality, you will not find it here.

Cons: View blocked by windows that were damaged and cloudy. So much for 'Harbor view' and bathroom tile was filthy. Floor under sink was really dirty. There was too much extra furniture in our tiny room making it hard to move around or even get to window.

Cons: I thought there might be enough of a breeze to cool down in the evening, but the noise from the pub below was too loud to leave the window open. It was a day below 25 degrees Celsius and still MUCH too warm in the hotel room (even with the fan provided in the room, which was definitely a very welcomed item!!)
The elevator is also an issue ... only 1 elevator and it is extremely small.
Unfortunately, I won't be staying again, I will pay a little more and stay elsewhere.

Cons: I'm going to organize this into a list for the sake of readability:
- The walls were paper thin. I heard children screaming, neighbors talking, and footsteps.
- The bed and pillows just weren't very comfortable. I recommend bringing your own pillow if you like to sleep on your back.
- There was no air conditioning, which is not mentioned anywhere in the description.
- The doors barely worked. We had to try our keys multiple times and when we expressed our frustration we were told to just try it again with different keys (which also didn't work, because the door sensors weren't good).
- We had to attend a particular function and asked if we could change in advance of our check out; and instead of being offered a room (which we had booked!) they told us to change in the rest rooms which were tremendously cramped and filthy (it's shared with two restaurants).
Simply put; it's a budget hotel and if they were charging budget prices; I'd understand. But 300 dollars for one night (after tax) seemed a ludicrous price just for the waterfront location (something which other locations seem to have agreed to charge despite substandard offerings). I'm not opposed to being charged 300 dollars for a waterfront room in the core, but I expected better for it.

Cons: The room was noisy, I was kept up by a dog barking next door, paper thin walls. Breakfast was free and in the restaurant below but I heard one of the waiters say to another waiter about my order, 'don't make this a priority, we have paying customers'.

Bed was comfortable. Location is great, centrally located but not a crazy busy/noisy street. Great walking around James Bay and Fisherman's Wharf.
I really, REALLY like that they take dogs too. The suite was super clean, no sign of dogs from other people which I liked (even though I have a dog)!

Our family of four were very comfortable in the 1BR premium suite. The bistro is great for a cocktail with locals or a morning coffee. The concierge will hold your bags while you walk and shop if you’ve got a late clipper departure. We’ll be back!

Cons: The room was a bit worn. It seemed a bit expensive for the quality of the room. I stayed here because my preferred option was fully booked. If I didn't have a car I would have used Hotwire and spent a just a little more to get a much nicer place without free parking.
