7,5 Good
Pros: Easy access/parking for cars. Excellent breakfast with great service
Cons: Tired appearance some double rooms very small. Loverly Big dog roaming around. Certainly not 4star in our opinion. I’m sure eventually this nice couple will get it right but for us not at the moment
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location just a couple minutes to Sandown train station. Breakfast was fantastic and the room wonderful for a solo traveller
Cons: Would like to be a little closer to seafront as it is all up hill from seafront to guest house
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hosts. Very good breakfast!
5,8 Okay
Pros: Bar
Cons: The decoration needs up dating
6,3 Good
Pros: The breakfasts were good
Cons: The room was far too small, nowhere to store two suitcases. Just a double cheap bed and getting out of bed was difficult.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was very warm and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. Lovely coffee and a great range of food. They could not have been nicer hosts.
Cons: The showers are unpredictable and they are also not very powerful. The beds are also rather hard for anything longer than one night.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: excellent and friendly ,stayed for 5 nights on scooter rally weekend booked for next year all ready
Cons: every thing was sound
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It was a charming, pleasant hotel, clean and very friendly people!
Cons: Nothing is was all good!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: If you are a pet person, this place is definitely for you. When we came to check in, we received the friendliest hotel welcome I've ever received from a lovely Labrador called Winston and a cat called Spot. They were always around to greet you when you came in and at breakfast, which I thought was lovely. For breakfast we both had a full English, which was very nice. My fiance and I stayed for the scooter rally, and the owner was very accommodating making sure that we were able to park somewhere safe and he was happy for us to lock the scooters to the sign post. We decided to meet the other scooterists for the events in Ryde on the Saturday night, and The Fernside is only a 5 minute walk from the train station so it was in the perfect location for us. Highly recommend to anyone.
Cons: My only criticism would be that you only had a half an hour window to get breakfast between 8:30am and 9am, so we did feel a little rushed trying to make sure that we were up and ready for then.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the place was good, staff were helpful and polite. Bed was so comfy and towels were fluffy and big.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: There was nothing I would improve.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A good location for us and near to the beach. The owner, Jan, is very friendly and willing to help with tips of what you can do on the Isle of Wight. (Some nice chats about our mutual love for David Bowie !) The outdoor swimming pool was an added bonus; especially as we had some warm, sunny weather while we were there. Room to park at the hotel car park. Definitely have plans to visit in the future!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was the hotel that kept on giving and the most amazing hostess Jan. We had room 8 and it was just as described but then there were the extras like the fridge with even a jug of cold water and a pint of fresh milk to make a cup of tea or fresh coffee. Air con and even a hot water bottle in the event it was cold. The best however was yet to come, an outdoor heated pool and hot tub !!
Cons: There was nothing to dislike. Nothing to find any fault with at all

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location and breakfasts were excellent as was the hospitality of the owners.
Cons: The en-suite was a little cramped.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The lady went out her way to make it special for us as it was our anniversary and nothing was to much trouble to ask. She really went extra mile with the cooked breakfast and was perfectly cooked .
Cons: Toilet brush dirty from previous use . Decor was very old dated and needed overall. And t.v was too small even wearing glasses .
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very friendly and helpful. Large room and quite. You had a good choice of breakfast which was very nice.
Cons: The 2 overhead bed lights didn’t work which would have been good for my 4yr grandson. Strong smell of cigarettes in evening. Saying this I should have told owner on the way out but forgot.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: The lady owner only ,she is lovely.
Cons: The man owner is so rude to us .We didn’t like his attitude . Need to change his behaviour.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: A very comfortable hotel, our dog was made welcome and we were told we could take her in the bar area and make use of the garden with her. Bar food was fantastic, breakfast was as good, 5 minutes walk from the train station and close to town and beach.

Cons: Rooms were very dated, shower was very small, car parking was limited we had to park on the road outside
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The overall experience was very good
Cons: The 'DIY' style lighting and TV installation and the lack of available (unused) power points - all those in the room were occupied leaving no space for our 'accessories' (phone chargers, camera charger, toothbrush charger etc, etc) Sorry about this folks, but if we don't tell you, you won't know.

Cons: Nothing it did want it said in the tin!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly receptionist on arrival . Showed us to our room and where our table for breakfast was . Room was ok but I think if it had been bigger it would of been better . Very quiet room . Comfortable double bed . Pool area looked nice . Hotel was overall very nice . Breakfast was amazing and the waiting staff were very good .
Cons: Found hair on one pillow and in the sink . Staff were quick to sort the matter out and very apologetic . Was offered a free drink at the bar .
7,9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, as were the staff doing the breakfast serving. Room was always kept very clean. Swimming pool, Steam Room & Jacuzzi were very good as were other hotel facilities. Location was ideal.
Cons: Bit disappointed with the Bar. No local Real Ales. Would have sunk a few each evening had there been a better choice. Sound proofing in room was poor. Noise from room above was quite significant, every footstep and voices could be heard.
6,3 Good
Pros: The staff was lovely, but that’s about it.
Cons: We stayed 2 nights with my family and The shower was awful, felt like a punishment because the pressure on the shower was awful, like someone tipping a teaspoon of water on you. Also the flush on toilet was a nightmare, was a work out getting it to flush. The swimming pool has a sudden decline towards the deep end, which is also slippery. The swimming pool shower gets boiling hot after the 2nd push of the button. The rooms overall however were very clean and tidy, and relatively comfortable beds too.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: The facilities I.e swimming pool & suana.breakfast menu was perfect nice selection.staff was very friendly nothing a problem.

Located in Sandown, Lyndhurst House is within a 5-minute drive of Sandown Pier and Sandown Beach. Free self parking is available onsite.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: breakfasts excellent. a lot of choice. Room was spotless and bed very comfortable.
Cons: Low water pressure in shower.
6,3 Good
Pros: Good location and it’s near to beach
Cons: Wardrobe was broken when we arrive and bathroom door not lock properly also shower hub not working properly.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Rosemary rang me immediately after I had left a message, prior to my stay with clear directions from the train station to the property. John cooked a fabulous breakfast and was extremely friendly. Lovely quiet location, yet only 5 minutes walk to the beach. I would highly recommend Lyndhurst House!
Cons: Perhaps there should have been some ‘in case of fire’ instructions in the room - should you remain in the room or jump out of the window, where should you congregate to, etc. These could be written on a sheet of A4 and placed in the room folder? Otherwise, my stay was perfect, thank you
4,6 Okay
Pros: Not a lot.
Cons: Arrived at the hotel thinking we had been there before...but we hadn't. Were shown the room (No9). First appearance was OK but that was it. The bed was uncomfortable and small and every time either of us moved, the headboard clattered against the wall. Tea and coffee was provided. The one biscuit that was there when we moved in was still there when we left. The shower was sub standard with the usual drawer across shower curtain, mixer tap wasn't easy to operate. The supplied shower /shampoo sachets had to contain the cheapest liquid you could buy, they shouldn't bother. The breakfast was adequate with a varied menu but everything was delivered and served in bowls. No regular sideboard with large bowls of grapefruit/cereal/yogurts/etc. Made you feel that you shouldn't ask for more. The cooked full English was fair and well presented. Tea/coffee was available and more was available if requested. There were two things that 'annoyed' us and other guests that we had spoken to. 1. There was nobody on site for long periods of the day, no reception, no staff available. When questioned we were told that there is a telephone number in the 'Red Book'. This excuse didn't appease us or any other of the guests. The main gripe was that there was a SRICT ORDER to vacate the premises by 10 O'clock sharp otherwise we would be booked another day. This definitely did not go down well with anybody. Breakfast was served between 8.30 and 9.30. Woe betide you if you are still in your room at 9.10 on your last day....you WILL get a knock on your door.
6,7 Good
Pros: All spoiled by rude behaviour.
Cons: I don't like having to pre-order breakfast and having to order for a set time. I didn't appreciate the rude manner in which my door was knocked at dead on 9 am to call us to breakfast because we had booked it for 9 and were running a minute or 2 late. Nor did I appreciate the rude manner in which my door was knocked at 10am precisely and my keys taken off us on the day we were leaving. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. We felt unwelcome and awkward. These comments are not just me being pedantic, I notice that other reviews mention the same. I was so annoyed by this that I would never stay here again. The breakfast was basic, only orange juice which I can not drink and the sausage cheap. The cooked breakfast portions were very small.
7,1 Good
Cons: Very limited parking at the hotel.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast
Cons: Shower could have been more powerful
7,5 Good
Pros: The comfort

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Clean and comfy room. Nice bar with entertainment and even if it wasn’t exactly your taste it was good for an evening drink.

Cons: It is a bit dated . If you google the hotel it shows 2 pictures of pools but doesn’t have one?
7,1 Good
Pros: Room was ok, staff friendly
Cons: Room attended to once in 3 days Needs urgent decoration, 70's paper flaking from walls. Steep stairs to room without being asked if this suited. Bed had sunk in the middle so we both rolled to the centre every night. Could not open windows more than an inch. TV situated in wrong place to watch comfortably

Cons: Rooms were small but OK for just a few nights
7,1 Good
Pros: - Very good location - Was clean & tidy - Coffee & tea provided - Good TV channels
Cons: - Every time you turn on the bathroom light (due to no window) makes a loud noise. Annoying when sleeping if somebody needs to get up to use the toilet. - Bathroom was old and could do with a refurbish/renovation. - Very basic room for the money
7,9 Good
Pros: Great location. Right next to the beach which is what we were after. A little expensive but I guess it's peak season. Other than that had a fab time and would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend
Cons: Price was abit on the high side
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was poor. Full English was very small, served on a small plate. Portion control applied, not what we expected. Had to eat away from hotel to avoid being hungry before lunch.
Cons: Staff were rude and ignorant, Not interested in their customers. Had to argue to the point on arrival that we had paid for breakfast, and also the next day that again we had paid for breakfast. The room was hot, granted it was was south facing. The quality and condition of the room was poor. Not what was advertised. It needs updating from the 70's. With a Premier Inn being built next door, we know where we will stay in future.
7,1 Good
Pros: Expected highly recommend
Cons: Breakfast and coffee which was not value of money

10,0 Excellent

Cons: NA
7,1 Good
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, good location.
Cons: The room was small and cramped - not the "King Room" that we booked The electricity (in the whole house I think) cut out several times every day. Inconvenient and potentially dangerous, given the lack of natural light in bathroom. A lot of water came through the ceiling of the bathroom on one morning - from the bathroom above?
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The big room, very clean and fresh confortable beds, smell great, good and delicious breakfast, very kind persons. Very closer to the sea the centre and nice view from the room
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room is bigger than I thought, and it is very clean.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our rooms had lots of storage, a decent size ensuite with good water pressure showers and even a small fridge. Beds were comfy and slept well with no traffic noise. Hosts were very welcoming and happy to chat. Close to town and seafront.
Cons: The double room needed a mirror and the TV in the single needed to be on a swivel bracket as unless you sat dead in front of it picture was unwatchable - 2 easy to fix issues which wouldn't deter us from visiting again. Parking a little tight.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room had everything from iron, ironing stand to hairdryer. Very clean and lovely staff

6,7 Good
Pros: The beds were comfortable and the room spacious.
Cons: Room not as clean as it could have been (dust on the door tops and drawer tops and splash marks up the walls) bedside light did not work and the tv remote was a joke all the writing had been worn off so could not make out how to turn it up or change the channel.
7,9 Good
Pros: Fabulous location, great breakfast!! Nearly every member of staff were friendly and efficient.
Cons: We stayed in newly refurbished room at the front of the hotel. The room was neutral decor and bright although a little on the small size. There were not any drawers to put clothes in apart from the bedside cabinets. There was a luggage rack but the only place to put it would block access to the wardrobe. The main areas were so so dated and Victorian lift was seriously smelling musty.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff
Cons: No fridge in room
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Clean hotel fantastic view from the hotel and clean comfortable rooms. Very good staff in the hotel and close to the town centre and beach.
Cons: The hotel is geared for coach parties not individual travellers and the resturant sittings are too. As the hotel caters for older travellers there is no wifi in the rooms only the lobby the hotel looks very dated. Not really a suitable hotel for booking.com.
5,8 Okay
Cons: My room was comfortable and the breakfast adequate BUT... I arrived at 10.15 p.m., when Reception was, as I had been informed, closed. I tried the front door which was, as I had been informed, closed. There was a member of staff inside who saw me but took no notice of me. I then tried the Night Bell; there was no response, not surprisingly, since, as I learner later, it was not working; the staff knew this. To open the door I had to know the code for the entryphone; the receptionist, though friendly and ioformative about her home town, had omitted to give this to me, as she should have done whether I requested it or not. My mobile phone, without roaming, was unable to connect me with the two emergency numbers posted on the front door. I now faced the possibility of having to sleep the night on the beach. Fortunately a couple of other visitors arrived after a while, and found themselves in just the same position as myself. They did however succeed in ringing the emergency numbers, and were given the code. The entryphone was so old and worn that it was hard to make out the numbers by the buttons, but after several tries the door opened. The barmaid, to whom we complained, could not have been more helpful and apologetic, but the faults in thr system were made quite clear, Intending visitors should be on their guard,

Pros: Cleanliness, food was good, breakfasts were filling and would suffice until dinner. Like the location as can find my bearings and the bus routes
Cons: No internet in the room, only in restaurant/bar/entrance, had a ground floor room this time as last year it seemed fine when upstairs. Booked an evening meal as was doing the theatre trip that night, paid for 3 course meal, but only ended up only having 2 courses, this being down to maybe not enough staff with the volume of guests and ran out of time.dud to the coach leaving, also it might be a suggestion, that the people going on the trip from the hotel, have priority so they get their full meal and don't feel rushed or forgotten.

Pros: Nice hotel to support our short break with added bonus of some spa & gym facilities
Cons: Outside jacuzzi in state of disrepair
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our breakfast and liked all the decor on arrival. The ground floor rooms were lovely.
Cons: The bedside lamps in our room were dusty and not bright enough to read without the main light being on. The main stopper was missing in the sink and the water was very slow to drain away. The replacement stopper did not fit well.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, just far enough away from the high street but a nice walk back from the beach. Good selection for breakfast and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Good location and comfy beds. Nice friendly staff. I liked the indoor pool.
Cons: The hotel should employ more spa staff as I wasn't able to get a fairly basic treatment for two days.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: pleasantly surprised, considering the price, very clean room, good shower and a few minutes to beach from a quiet street
2,9 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: I didn't actually stay at this hotel, but the Channel View. The owner offer me, over the phone, to swap the room I had booked at the Caprepra, for a "similar room" down the road for the same price, because the bike facilities were better (I asked to keep my bikes over night somewhere safe). I said yes thinking that it was very similar, but boy was I wrong. No one was in reception, and after various texts I got the key off the counter of the totally unattended reception and got to my room. There was no big towels in the room, and I had to wait 2h for someone to actually bring one over, and after a day o cycling all I wanted was to take a shower. There was no shower gel or soap either.... The room decor was tired, the floor tilted towasrds the middle of the room, and the bathroom floor was on a slope too. The whole place could have done with a proper scrub over. ANd just as I was ready to go to bed, a party started downstairs in the bar, and the terrible music just got louder...a heads up, and an offer to sleep in a room further away would have been nice. The laud music stopped around 23:00, so up to that point it was not a very restful sleep. Check out was just as "exciting"! No one in reception, so I just left the key and walked out, promising never to return again. Overall very poor service, and no attention to details...I recommend that you never stay there!

Pros: We had room only so cannot comment on the breakfast. Room was very good size, nicely decorated with king size bed. Very quiet and comfortable. Owner pretty much gives you the key and leaves you to it, which is very nice and trusting. Parking is off road as long as not full. Easy 5 minute walk to Sandown pier and beach.. great location.
Cons: Our only issue was the Wi-fi signal was pretty non existent as so weak, so we could not get online at all. We recommended signal boosters be installed. Aside from that, you cannot take food or alcohol into the rooms, not much of an issue for us but some might not like.
7,9 Good
Pros: The location and cleanliness. Staff were friendly and told us all we needed to know when we got there.
Cons: Waiting outside a long time to be let in. Parked four roads away as no actual car park in the hotel just a two car space outside. Not too much of a problem as we are fit and healthy so just walked!

Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: No staff no food no parking
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Full English breakfast was well cooked, and pleasantly served..
Cons: The bedroom curtains were hanging off their rail. Management said they had been damaged at the previous weekend. More priority should have been given to repair. (We had to use safety pins.)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly lady hostess greeted us to give us the room key. The room (no. 5) had a double bed and a single bed on the side, so would be ideal for a couple with a small child. Shower and toilet were clean, plenty of towels provided too. Location was great, just a short walk from Sandown town centre and the beach. Free wifi was available, which worked very well.
Cons: Breakfast isn't on-site, it's offered by the hotel next door. At £8.50 per person it wasn't great value, we were happy we didn't opt for this, and had a cheaper but probably much nicer breakfast at Lulu's Tea Room in town. Soap and shampoo dispensers in the loo were empty. Kettle in room 5 was old, unfortunately it looked like someone in the past tried to boil something other than water in it :( Parking is also minimal, I chose to park on the street in the end; but given the good location and it being in a residential neighborhood, the lack of parking is understandable.
7,9 Good
Cons: Shower in my room did not give hot water.
6,0 Good
Pros: The room was newly Decorated and clean. The bed was comfortable, there was tea and coffee available.
Cons: I requested breakfast each day, this was not on site we had to go to the hotel next door, we were not told this when we booked, and it was between 8.30 and 9.00 only, so not much of a layin ! The food was ok.

Pros: Location
Cons: Was not impressed with the check in . I had e- mailed to advise what time we would arrive - had no response .No one was available to check us in when we arrived (We arrived within the check in criteria that was advised )- contacted the Telephone numbers that were available on front door and confirmation received fro booking, initially unable to contact any one calls not being answered. Then a lady called us back and advised she would be 5 minutes we had to wait 30 mins ! and then she asked us if we had checked our e- mail !! We had not received any e- mail on that day !! Not a very good start. The room was clean and adequate however the shower soap dish and toilet roll holder was on the floor. In addition they had taken the payment for the stay prior to us arriving not sure this was acceptable but did not have a choice !!
