Pros: This hotel has character. The room was more a loft than a hotel room. The shower was amazing. There was a billiards room. The location was across the street to the ND cathedral. The staff was very friendly and always smiling.

Pros: This place is AMAZING!! The only reason I didn't give it a ten is because it is very expensive. But, you get what you pay for!! Would definitely spend the extra money and go back again!! Cons: When I checked in I was sent to the farthest end of the building (which is four connected buildings), and up a short flight of stairs (with my heavy luggage) to get an elevator up to my room. I then noticed an elevator next to my room that took me downstairs to the lobby level below the flight of stairs. When I mentioned this to the young man who had directed me initially, he said, “we don’t encourage guests to take that (in my case, more convenient) elevator because it is so slow”. Two things: during my stay only once did I find catching that elevator “slow”, and I am an older lady traveling by herself. I should not have had to manage my luggage up those stairs when an easy alternative was available. He might have even suggested someone bring my luggage to my room.

The room was kept very clean and nice. We took advantage of the special for dinner in the restaurant, and had one of the best dinners we have ever had. I had the salmon, my husband had the beef, and we shared a calamari, all of which were outstanding.

Cons: There was a TV in the bathroom by the soaker tub which is a bit weird but it didn’t work anyway. The pool is small and dark and not on the rooftop like I had imagined. The workout equipment isn’t in the best of shape and is crammed into a tiny space. Breakfast was a disappointment with crusty pancakes that sat out too long and I think the fruit was canned. We only did that once.

Cons: All the actual construction sites on the streets in the central part of Montreal, walk was not appreciable there, some bus had a modified circulation, stops had been modified. This is not imputable to the hotel.

Pros: I did not have breakfast at the hotel but the location was superb, right in the centre of downtown. From arrival to checkout every interaction I had with a staff member was polite and friendly, in some areas they went above and beyond. I had broken my wrist a week before and arrived in Montreal to find my Airbnb had been a scam. After some tears and internet searching I chose the sofitel. I arrived at the hotel a little battered, the Porter/Doorman D'arcy was the kindest most helpful, loveliest person I could of encountered. The help and and consideration shown was very much appreciated. I was helped through checkin by a lovely staff member as well and then escorted to my room. D'arcy helped me arrange my cases and open them and later a lovely note was sent gifting a dessert and ice cream to help me relax after a very stressful arrival in Montreal. The concierges in the otel were brilliant, from helping to arrange excursions to helping me create a walking tour for myself to see all of the main landmarks and lively areas. My room was very spacious and had a very well equipped bathroom, and all areas were kept very clean by the cleaner. To the hotel - Thank you, you all made my stay in Montreal perfect :-)

Cons: The speed of delivery for things you ask. Which wastes slot of time of a tourist. The Renoir is excellent restaurant as mentioned above but first day every one was great but second day the waitress was very bad. It’s took 50 minutes to deliver breakfast, we were late for our next activity. Parking access was very good but bit slow. Reception people also not consistent in helping. Some are good. The people who come for room cleaning and room check can do much better job. Therefore overall I think I this hotel needs to be consistent in delivering services. I accepted the rate when I booked due to brand name, but the from above mentioned feedback I think highly priced.

(A keeper! - and we are very picky people) Running outside and checking by phone with the main office every few minutes, but our taxi driver was late because of the construction everywhere. We really should have foreseen much more time for that problem, but these two gentleman (Weiser and taxi driver) made things so much easier for us. A truly wonderful hotel to stay in - I will recommend to everyone. And also being back in my old Montreal neighbourhood - such a pretty street. Superbe! Merci, merci, beaucoup!

Cons: We had a “superior king room”. Filthy floor in room- literally dust bunnies everywhere and the wood floor was extremely pet- stained and gritty feeling. Safe wouldn’t work- until we called and they said you had to press extremely hard- did get it to work then, but didn’t trust it as it was hit or miss in functionality. They also said (when we checked in)we were getting a room with a view of the waterfront, but instead we had a view of a construction-trash topped building and parking lot- the only possible view of the waterfront would be from a top floor on the opposite side of the hotel- so the person at the desk wasn’t honest. We were greeted by a barking dog from the next door room right when we walked up ours! We called the front desk to request a room change due to these complaints, and they said they were booked so they could do nothing! It was 2:30 in the afternoon and we were staying for 2 nights, so I said, “well it’s first come, first served within the same category of room we requested, and the last to arrive should get the worst room.” They did nothing, offered nothing, not a discount or an apology perk- nothing. The dog next door barked on and off the entire time we were in the room including in the early morning. They did not restock the tissue, used toiletries, or toilet paper on day two, and things were missing from the mini bar that were on the posted menu that we didn’t use- we had left the key to the mini bar in the room because we didn’t want to carry it- hmmm. Still waiting to see if we get charged for the missing liquor ( we brought our own). Would not recommend this hotel despite its location-there were too many dirty/shady things that added up. We booked our entire trip through major cities between Chicago and Quebec City on booking.com and every single other place we stayed was delightful and exceeded our expectations in every way! This hotel was rated 4 stars?

Cons: The hotel manager was really bad. Such a scam. Im a genius member, i booked the place with the same credit card for years, they canceled my booking 1 day before arrival, i rebooked it, the price went up 200$. I called the hotel asking for the same price, they said i need to call booking, once i called booking, booking staff asked the hotel to rematch the price back to the previous price, the hotel manager refused. (In the end, its their decision but they convert their responsibility to booking.com), I was really disappointed with their decision, i emailed them, they never replied to any of my messages. The service was bad comparing to the price, the room was normal, nothing special, i really think you can find an equal or better hotel. Seriously, based on this price.

Cons: We booked a family room for 4 people, but when we arrived tried after long drive the Receptionist told us that we order just for 2 adults and 1 kid Apparently the order was not entered properly so we had to prove that the room that we booked was for a family of 4 not 3. in addition the lady that clean the room provided only 2 large towels every day each day even though we are a family. we received a kitchenette without adequate and minimal means such as glasses, plates, Forks, spoons, knives. Aldo These were provided upon request they were taken by the cleaning lady the next day. The lack of a safe in the room claiming that it was a new room, something that forced us to put things in the safe in the lobby and delayed us daily, the lack of bags on the bins something we encountered several times in the Hilton hotels. If it was a desire to preserve the environment, recycled bags could be used. The day before departure we asked to make a payment by credit card other than the original order, the receptionist told that the payment could be closed before departure and although the hotel knows about a credit card exchange request they charged the original credit card without checking with us.

Cons: Rooms are outdated. The rooms need renovation- new carpet, bathroom smelled moldy.

Pros: I did like the location to all the restaurants and clubs. The hotel was nice and the price was fair.
Cons: I assume there is some kind of meth clinic or drug rehab in the area....not exactly a good first impression of the area. I referred to the area as Meth Mile....very sketchy people.

Pros: The size of the towels. The beds were comfy. The location is great.
Cons: For the price, I felt the hotel room was really run-down to be charging that much. The bathroom and sink area needed some work. I felt like I was in a student dorm room. I realize the hotel is very old but some investments are required in order to charge that much per night or lower the price. I felt pretty jipped.

Cons: The hotel rooms were so old compared to what we have to pay for. Everything is so dated. You don't even have the mini-fridge in the room. The carpeted floor was so smelly. The bathtub was clogged and they couldn't fix it.

Pros: The hotel was centrally located by all the restaurants and buy all the activities that was happening going on during gay pride had a blast enjoyed my room
Cons: The hotel manager gave my room away and then proceeded to argue with me and I saw the man in front of me who didn’t have my room at the beginning but being that his room was not up to par or messed up he decide to give me the messed up room . I reserved my room my room in advance I went into the room it was dirty the heater was hanging from the wall actually was pulled out and on the floor. Was disappointed with that manager very rude.The managers that was on duty on Saturday she was wonderful very accommodating and helped me out she made my stay most pleasant. The guy on duty at about 11 o’clock on the night that I checked in on Friday needs to be fired!

Pros: It was fine but underwhelming. Thought that the presentation could have been more appealing. It just seemed a little dull.
Cons: The first room I was given was quite awful. Torn wallpaper a shower and toilet crammed together with a slight step which I wasn't expecting and tripped over. There was mold growing around the sink. The bathtub didn't drain and the room itself looked so dowdy. It was a bad start to what I had hoped to be a good get away. However the next morning after I explained to the concierge she was really helpful and gave me a room on the 26th floor which had a wonderful view of my favourite city. I loved the music from Gamelan park and seeing lots of people enjoying themselves which I did too as I stopped to listen to the concert. I love Montreal in the summer and will likely be back with my two grandsons when hockey season starts so we can be there with our favourite team.
