When I arrived to pick up the car I was forced to wait over an hour for a car to be available. The entire waiting area at Thrifty/Hertz was packed with people sitting around waiting for their cars, as though it was a surprise that people showed up for their reservations. All of the other rental car counters were generally empty. Those companies moved their customers in and out. So it wasn’t just a busy day — those other companies were there in the same conditions.

The car wasn't clean, with sand in the doors, but the worst part is paying $140 for the car, and then receiving a receipt later saying it went up to 311.78?! How is that even possible? We returned the car with the tank almost full and within 10 hours, although we rented it for 24. Never using it again, it is a total scam pretending to offer a better price.

we booked the car (80 CAD) on kayak with an extra insurance for 11 CAD, the price was supposed to be with fees and taxes. when we arrived at AVIS rental we were told (by a very rude personn) the fees and taxes were not included i and that the 11 CAD insurance we took on Kayak was not eligible . We had to pay an extra 50 CAD just for the insurance. TOTAL : 190 CAD instead of 90 CAD (but she made a discount of 20 CAD, so nice !) i don't recommend KAYAK nor AVIS to rent a car. drop off instructions were not clear. car was nice and clean.

No Car was available to honour my reservation. Unprofessional service from Avis rep, rude and unacceptable. And as a result I was charged with $70!!! What kind of bs dealing is this???? Never will deal with Avis again

Cat was nice. Pick up was not good. Car we booked was not available. We needed the large car we booked based on passengers and luggage and we had to wait for 90 min for them to locate a car for us. Book as specific car, expect that car to be available when you arrive. This didn’t happen.

When I made the reservation, the confirmation email did not make any mention of a $500 deposit and for certain provinces it’s $1500. I’ve rented cars in the past and it’s only been $150/$200 so I was really taken back by that upon arrival. On the way to my destination the windshield wiper fluid was completely empty, that was within an hour of driving the car. It’s obviously the dead of winter in Quebec, windshield wiper fluid is mandatory and they also did not leave a brush in the vehicle so after snowing for 3 days and freezing temperatures, I couldn’t even see out my blind spot while driving back. These things are basic. I had to call 5 times, I finally reached someone and they put me on hold and then hung up. When I called back and got a hold of someone they had no answers for me, said I had to email and wait 2 days for a response from the owner.. disappointing

Routes car rental does not allow its cars to travel beyond provincial borders. This was not specified explicitly in the rental agreement and they did not honour the rental on the spot causing me to have to pay 4x the price at another rental agency on the day of to get a car. I still have not received a refund. Stay far away.
